Nia looked at Jimmy and asked: "Jimmy, apart from this trip to Little Rock, have you seen these kinds of monsters anywhere else?"

Jimmy shook his head: "No, it's just that the monsters discovered this ti are completely different from those found before, I'm just a bit curious. They seem like monsters from Roland's world; I just don't know when they ca over, and how many unlucky people have encountered them."

Roland: "There are many kinds of monsters, no one can fully understand them all. If I hadn't seen so many over the years myself, I wouldn't be able to na many types either."

Jimmy: "Oh, there's one more thing. Previously, like everyone else, I was looking for monsters over there, but it seed their abilities had no effect on . At least I didn't experience any soul absorption."

Roland: "It's just that you're special, don't forget about Black Rainbow."

Jimmy nodded slightly, thinking back now, it seems true. In all those supernatural events, in situations that seed to threaten the soul, nothing happened to . But this can't be discussed deeply, at least only when it's just Roland and myself. Black Rainbow was used only by the two of us, and talking too much might cause trouble.

Roland had used a Rainbow Ball, so back then when the n in black used their magic abilities to kill other gunn, that kind of Word-to-Magic ability wasn't effective against him. Maybe it was because of the transformation from the Rainbow Ball; I used Black Rainbow, which should also have strengthened my soul protection while enhancing myself.

After chatting for a while longer, Roland left Jimmy's ho carrying his bag. Jimmy hadn't sold his apartnt in the Upper West Side yet; Roland used to live there before. With him staying there, it could prevent anyone from occupying it, even though reverse occupation in New York still takes quite so ti. Better safe than sorry, even if Jimmy and Nia's identities are unusual, they wouldn't want to deal with a ss.

Nia held the baby looking thoughtful, while Jimmy saw Roland off, ca back and took Liam, entertaining him while asking: "What's up? What are you thinking about?"

Nia stood up: "Nothing much. What's for lunch? I'm cooking today."

Jimmy: "Wow, rare occasion! How about tomato at sauce spaghetti, and grill a steak too."

Nia rolled her eyes at Jimmy and turned towards the kitchen; the steak was out of the question, cooking so pasta was fine, but if he wanted steak he'd have to do it himself.

Jimmy obviously knew Nia's culinary skills, so he just said that, waiting for her to finish cooking the pasta and then go into the kitchen himself, no big deal. If it was left entirely to Nia, who knows if he'd get charcoal-grilled steak.

Sotis he really wondered if Nia had ever set foot in the kitchen before they got married. These past few years, his cooking skills had definitely improved.

In the evening, Jimmy finally waited until Liam fell asleep before tiptoeing out of the nursery.

The nursery has sound monitoring and motion detection, caras monitoring 24/7 connected to the server in the study, with monitors in the living room and bedroom for real-ti checking. If the baby cries, it triggers the sound monitor to issue a low alarm, enough to wake Jimmy and Nia up to check.

Setting this up for the little one wasn't easy, and it took the help of the bureau's technical departnt to get it done. Although there are many baby monitoring products on the market, in terms of sensitivity and reliability, the FBI's tech departnt is definitely more professional, given that they often deal with listening and surveillance devices.

Wonder how Liam would feel grown up, knowing he was under his parents' 24-hour surveillance since childhood.

Besides the nursery, every door and window in the house is equipped with burglar alarm systems linked directly to the NYPD's alarm center; once triggered, operators call back instantly. The number of patrol officers nearby increased a bit, so safety is guaranteed.

The basent has its own standalone physical defense system, mainly manual defense. There's a rack fixed on one side of the wall with a set of long and short guns, several spare magazines, and boxes of bullets, all bought by Jimmy and Nia from the gun shop using their identities, so it doesn't pose any issue even if discovered.

The portal controller also has a separate cover over it, and unless one specifically looks for it, it's fairly hidden.

All of this was prepared by Jimmy to ensure family safety; he thought up quite a few tricks. But since this is the city center, so external defense plans can't be implented yet. If it were a large estate, he'd definitely set up automated weapons outside for defense, and the basent would have so, in case there's a problem with the portal.

Returning to the bedroom after leaving the nursery, Nia glanced up at Jimmy: "Is he asleep?"

Jimmy replied while taking off his clothes: "Yeah, he's sleeping soundly. I let him play a bit longer during the day, or else he'd still be fussing for two more hours. What are you reading?"

Nia: "Journey to the Center of the Earth, it's a good novel."

Jimmy squeezed in beside Nia, craning his neck for a look. Nia turned to Jimmy: "Do you think our Earth is really hollow? Could there be a hollow world inside Earth, filled with various monsters and bizarre creatures and plants?"
