Jimmy had already inspected the house, and clearly, Father Koch must have instructed those two children. They only cleaned the part of the house they lived in, leaving the rest untouched. Of course, it could also be that the two kids were too lazy and couldn't be bothered with any place other than where they slept.
Jimmy was quite concerned, after all, traveling to another world is not a trivial matter. If those two kids were reckless, there's no telling what could happen. Unfortunately, Roland valued this door highly and did not provide any activation thod, only saying that without the corresponding code, it was impossible to go there. But even an incorrect code carries so risks, doesn't it?
The key issue was the house. To get those two kids out, Father Koch had to be dealt with first. He had previously ntioned that the children's family were acquaintances of his and followers of the church. Out of goodwill, he arranged for the kids to have a place to stay. Simply kicking them out wouldn't work; a proper arrangent was necessary.
Moreover, it's important to understand why the church, despite this house's excellent location, left it undeveloped and unrepaired. It's right next to a park, and they could at least build an office area or parking lot, or even a villa to house so church upper echelons. It certainly wasn't because the church had so much property that they forgot about this house, especially since it's right beside the church. They must be aware of it.
This is quite troubleso. The people Jimmy knows in the church are all exorcist priests like Father Rodney. Although they hold high positions within the church, it's certainly the higher-ups who would have complete information regarding asset managent.
Jimmy had indeed t Bishop Anderson of the New York Archdiocese, but it was Dave who took him there, and there had been no contact since. They had no particular relationship, and it would be unthinkable to ask Dave to introduce him to Bishop Anderson again just for this matter. That would be too dismissive of a prominent figure.
With no other choice, Jimmy went to the church again the next day to see Father Rodney, but this ti he wasn't alone. He picked up his godson Elliot along the way. It had been a while since he last t Elliot, and with a long holiday now, it was an opportunity to fulfill his duties as a godfather, especially since he had been teaching Elliot shooting previously.
After praying with Elliot in the church for a while, Jimmy asked him to wait on the bench and went directly to the reception room at the back to see Father Rodney. This ti, he didn't beat around the bush and clearly expressed his hope that Father Rodney would help investigate the house.
Father Rodney was sowhat surprised. Jimmy usually seed like a person without desires or ambitions—why was he suddenly interested in that house? Was there a secret there?
In fact, Father Rodney and Father White had conducted many investigations and discussions about Jimmy before. Jimmy seed clever and capable, with an extraordinary wit and various strengths. But in reality, he was just a regular person, without specific goals or special hobbies—soone who was happy as long as he could go to work and live peacefully, preferring a life without turmoil.
Now that he suddenly showed interest in sothing, it was indeed intriguing.
Father Rodney: "Can I ask why?"
Jimmy thought for a mont; so reasons couldn't be too far-fetched: "I just want to confirm why the church isn't dealing with that house, nothing else."
Father Rodney shook his head, and Jimmy had to add: "Alright, if it's not due to a special reason that it can't be dealt with, I want to contact the relevant departnt of the diocese to see if it's possible to transfer that house to ."
Father Rodney was stunned. What kind of reason was this? "Why?"
Jimmy shrugged. "The environnt there is nice, with the church and park nearby. If Nia and I have kids, I'd want the little one to have a better environnt to grow up in. You know, my apartnt isn't big, and the environnt in Manhattan isn't great either."
Father Rodney felt a bit overwheld, but now wasn't the ti to dwell on it. He nodded: "I'll ask for you, and you can wait for my news."
Jimmy: "Thank you, Father Rodney."
Picking up Elliot from the church, Jimmy took him back to the shooting range. The kid was much more normal now, his performance at school back to usual. The psychological shadow from the kidnapping should have been resolved.
The kid was still very happy, after all, to him, Jimmy was the best godfather. From taking him to the church to later firing guns, he remained very excited. While there were many chances to play with guns, nothing compared to having his godfather with him.
Elliot was, of course, using the .22 series gun his father, Alex Green, had bought for him. It didn't have much recoil. Jimmy used his own handgun, but apart from teaching Elliot to play with guns, they also played so interesting gas like shooting at moving targets with tossed beer bottles.
This ga would ideally be played with a clay pigeon launcher. Whether single or double direction, the distance and speed of launching clay pigeons are much faster, and generally, a double-barreled shotgun is used for accuracy. But the 12-gauge of a double-barreled shotgun was too much recoil for Elliot, so they had to make do for now, tossing empty beer bottles into the air for Elliot to shoot. If he missed, Jimmy would fire a shot of his own...
