Did she intentionally bring up this matter at the eting last night to interfere with others' judgnt?

Lester now isn't sure whether Pete had divulged the contents of their communication, and if he did, would Mrs. Harriton's target shift to him?

After considering for a while, he directly told his driver to leave the company. Perhaps he needed to stay sowhere safe for a few days, it was ti to harness his personal connections.

-----------------

Jimmy has temporarily given up on provoking these people; panic isn't sothing that can be quelled by drinking water — it needs ti to fernt. If he wants these people to panic enough to make wrong decisions, they need at least a few days to understand the situation and communicate with others; otherwise, the effect won't be good.

His priority now is to organize the report based on the inquiry notes in his notebook. Although solving the case is unlikely, as long as the investigation is detailed enough, there will be credit for the effort, and it would show how hard he's worked.

Docuntation work is always the most ti-consuming and troubleso. Jimmy couldn't write much in a single night, and staying in the hotel all day just to finish it, still not the final version, waiting for subsequent investigations to make adjustnts at any ti.

After checking the ti, Jimmy tidied up, planning to take advantage of the lull in affairs to make a trip back to New York. But evidently, he thought too much, for the next morning, before he even set out for the airport, he received a call from Dave, asking him to pick him up at noon when he lands in Los Angeles.

Jimmy hung up the phone helplessly, looking at his packed suitcase with a bitter smile — his plan to skip work was completely ruined, Dave's arrival surely ant no good.

He called to cancel his flight, opened the suitcase again, and took out his notebook to idly flip through his records to kill ti. Now, this amount of ti wasn't enough to schedule etings with those people again, better to simply wait for Dave to arrive at noon and see what he wants to say.

Having Dave co over instead of explaining over the phone isn't simple — sothing big is happening.

Sure enough, seeing Dave co alone with just a briefcase, clearly, he's not here for leisure, and likely won't stay long, not even bringing along any staff.

The two refrained from discussing much outside; it was only after getting in the car and leaving the airport that Dave asked, "Any new updates in the past couple of days?"

Jimmy stared at the road ahead and said, "No, I've been organizing the report these days. Continuing the investigation further doesn't make much sense; I plan to return after turning in a phase report."

Dave: "Any bad news from others?"

Jimmy: "Haven't asked yet, but I reckon they aren't having an easy ti."

Dave: "Alright, pause for now. My visit here is primarily to liaise with the office, and if all goes smoothly, I want you to join the investigation into those two death cases and find out their true cause."

Jimmy furrowed his brow, glanced at Dave, and said, "Is it necessary? They should've completed the autopsy, and could've been buried by now."

Dave: "Maybe others could be endangered too, it might not be over yet."

Jimmy remained silent for a while before voicing the question weighing in his heart, "Dave, can you... tell what exactly you're planning?"

Dave sighed, "Just so people hoping to suppress their rivals. They don't intend to cause such a big ss; they just want to use previous cases to hold them back."

Jimmy: "Is it comrcial?"

Dave: "No, political. Haven't you noticed the timing? It's right around the internal candidate primary ti."

Jimmy exclaid, "I never considered that, always assud it was comrcial rivals or internal personnel causing trouble."

Dave inwardly lanted, only soone like Jimmy would completely overlook political affairs, his father-in-law's family has clear party affiliations, especially Kevin, as the NYPD chief, he has a good rapport with the mayor, clearly a supporter of the donkey party. "Maybe Harriton's death initially was linked to other matters, but subsequent issues likely aren't greatly related."

Jimmy thought it over, then asked with a furrowed brow, "Could political matters lead to people being assassinated? They're neither candidates nor key figures."

Dave: "Key or not depends on their position and relations. Actually, one of them is indeed crucial, Claude, that old fellow, was the soul figure in soone's campaign team, but due to age, his son handled matters openly. Able to precisely eliminate such a pivotal person, they certainly have significant ambitions."

Jimmy squinted slightly; he just casually disposed of a scoundrel previously, only gathered basic information during the investigation, never thought the person had such connections. Seems the situation led Dave and his team to misguided assumptions, never expected such an outco.

Dave: "Alright, let take a break, just drop off at the office."

Jimmy: "Alright, might take a bit."

Jimmy stopped talking, successfully dropping Dave at the Los Angeles office building, while he stayed in the car waiting, not following inside.

Sitting in the car, Jimmy kept mulling over Dave's words, evidently most of his previous conjectures were correct, the only error was the stance. Originally thought it was rely comrcial disputes; didn't anticipate political entanglent. As the New York FBI chief, Dave clearly should be in the donkey camp, but Los Angeles also serves as a donkey stronghold; are these businessn elephant party mbers? Seems improbable.

If they're all in the donkey camp, that ans internal party competition, truly pulling out all the stops, even exploiting a murder case to stall others' actions. Indeed, election year is political year, political novice like himself better refrain from excessive involvent, without guidance from soone beside, can't possibly manage these dirty dealings behind the scenes.

If Kevin were here now, how great it would be, he's been in New York for years, surely familiar with these people's style of conduct.

Silently deciding, once affairs are arranged after Dave's visit, must promptly return to New York, liaise with Kevin for he's genuinely one of his own people, others pose too great a possibility of manipulation, getting tangled might lead to bad consequences.

Dave didn't even eat lunch, directly headed to the office here — seems fairly significant, possibly particularly troubleso. No wonder Jimmy's spiraling into speculation; Dave is typically strategic, rarely seen in such a rush besides the ti when he got shot. Jimmy suspects the issue is highly problematic and related to him, can't quite fathom what else would make Dave so frantic.

Just as Jimmy was lost in thought, Dave ca downstairs, opened the car door, and sat in the passenger seat. He turned to Jimmy and asked, "When was the last ti you contacted Mrs. Harriton?"

Jimmy: "Two or three days ago, she was still in the hospital due to a heart condition surgery."

Dave: "Did you see her in person?"

Jimmy: "No, but through video call accompanied by her lawyer. What's up?"

Dave: "According to informants, Mrs. Harriton has been missing for several days, possibly..."

Jimmy frowned, "Can't be, she seed quite well in the video, quite spirited."

Dave pondered and said, "Regardless, keep in touch with her to check the situation. Also, those individuals I previously asked you to get in touch with, stop now, it doesn't hold any significance."
