They call each other every other day, but a few days ago Jimmy went to Juarez and cut off the calls. When he returned to Albuquerque, he called again. Since he initially said he'd be back in these days, they didn't say much over the phone.
Nia: "Nothing much, everything is good. How about you? Was Juarez fun?"
Jimmy wasn't hurt at all, and Nia certainly knew he hadn't encountered any serious problems, so she was just asking if it was fun. However, Jimmy didn't expect her to ask that and thought for a mont and said: "It's not very safe over there, and I wasn't there for fun, so I don't know if it's fun. But the people there are very polite, cars stop well before intersections, and there's never any congestion.
Do you know why? Because murders of drivers and passengers at intersections happen frequently, and they do it this way to easily escape quickly in case a gunfight happens."
Nia asked in astonishnt: "That dangerous? And you guys?"
Jimmy: "We were set up by the Juarez police during our capture attempt, and an explosion happened at the scene. Other than and an SRT team mber, everyone else ended up in the hospital. We stayed in the hospital for a few days before coming back, mission failed."
Nia: "Explosion? Are you alright?"
Jimmy: "I'm fine, don't worry."
Nia: "Did you rescue the kidnapped girl?"
Jimmy: "No, our leads went cold. By the way, did you get a call from Roland after you notified last ti?"
Nia: "Last ti? Oh, I rember, I saw him call your phone twice. After that, I took your phone out and never received a call, so I put it back in the study."
Jimmy: "Alright, it seems Roland's side doesn't have a signal; it'll take ti to make a call."
Nia: "Is it important?"
Jimmy: "Not particularly, just haven't seen him in a long ti. If we connect, I could go et and chat with him."
Nia: "You haven't told who he is yet, an important person? Your relative? Friend?"
Jimmy thought for a mont and said: "Strictly speaking, probably a teacher; he taught my shooting skills."
Nia: "Your revolver skills are so good, he taught you that? I want to learn too."
Jimmy was speechless: "You rember that video on my computer? That revolver shooting video is him. Now, still want to learn?"
Nia recalled the video she watched with Jimmy, her face fell, those moves were too inhuman, she probably wouldn't have any hope in this lifeti.
Actually, Jimmy might learn it now, as his physical abilities have improved a lot, but certainly not up to Roland's level. Roland said he could see Jimmy's shooting trajectory and even shoot down his bullets, sothing Jimmy definitely couldn't do, as he couldn't even see his bullet heads right now.
Jimmy: "Alright, you go to work first, tonight let's go out for a nice al."
Nia hugged Jimmy and kissed him, then got up, making a little space for Jimmy to rise. Jimmy left her office, greeted others, and left the precinct.
Jimmy left the precinct, first called to book a restaurant spot, then headed to the coffee shop next to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau.
He received a text ssage from an unregistered number, inviting him to return to New York for a chat. Jimmy identified the sender by just a look at the location, so he directly replied with his return schedule. Sitting in the café, he ssaged the number and ordered coffee, borrowing a newspaper to pass the ti waiting.
Soon, Caitlin walked in, looked around, and went directly to Jimmy, who had his back to the entrance, "Long ti no see, Jimmy."
Jimmy put down the newspaper, stood up, and hugged Caitlin: "Long ti no see, Caitlin. Please have a seat."
The waiter ca over, Caitlin ordered coffee, and only spoke when he walked away, "Did you go to Juarez?"
Jimmy wasn't surprised she knew his whereabouts, as it's not hard for the Anti-Terrorism Bureau to track him. However, Caitlin hadn't actively t him since he left the CIA, so he was a bit surprised, thus eting her right away, "Yes, just got back. What's up?"
Caitlin: "I heard so news about Juarez, soone unleashed a killing spree there, taking out dozens, and you just happened to be there, so..."
Jimmy: "Oh, that matter. I won't admit anything, from any angle, I was just in the hospital these days waiting for others to recover before coming back."
Caitlin just smiled without saying anything; she wouldn't talk about certain things with the waiter present.
Tearing open a small sugar packet and pouring it in, Caitlin stirred her coffee, "Maybe. Just the scene reminded of a past event, and that incident had many people seeing the scene reports."
Jimmy sipped his coffee, "No evidence."
Caitlin: "Often evidence isn't necessary, plus it wasn't long ago, many should rember clearly."
Jimmy: "But they don't know it's ."
Caitlin: "Now, so suspect the Atz incident and Juarez event were by the sa person; few could pull off that level, even in the company, only so super agents could."
Jimmy exhaled deeply, "Could anyone take the fall? I really don't want to beco a notable figure."
Caitlin: "Unfortunately, no way around it. The butcher title is spreading widely in Juarez, and quite a few shifted their focus to you. But it's not spoken openly, so it'll only be intelligence records, won't trouble you."
Jimmy: "That's good, as long as the authorities don't get involved, private gossip isn't a big deal. I really don't want to deal with OPR folks. So, anything else? Just informing ?"
Caitlin: "Well, not really much. Just this event is big, avoiding incidents, I must remind you, those drug dealers won't let it drop easily, be careful."
Jimmy raised his coffee cup, gently clinking with Caitlin's: "Thanks for the reminder, I'll be cautious, but hopefully, they won't stir anything in New York. If they provoke , I'll go out and take them down."
Caitlin: "I believe you'll manage, but your family... yes, you aren't single anymore."
Jimmy was startled; the personal abilities boost did indeed make him more confident, but Nia and Kevin didn't have the sa skills, "Are you sure they'll act?"
Caitlin: "No news yet, just possible."
Jimmy: "Alejandro, that jerk, if he hadn't leaked info, how could they recognize !"
Caitlin: "That's inevitable, acquiring intel requires sharing pieces. At the ti, that info was far more impactful than cash, he probably traded for quite valuable intel."
Jimmy nodded; finding Carlos indeed owed to Alejandro's intel. Though, Alejandro likely only shared the 'butcher' nickna, and how his profile got found was so intelligence vendor's doing. "Alright, looks like I need to be cautious for a while. Thanks, Caitlin, I owe you one."
Caitlin smiled: "No need, just happened to co across so info. Okay, nothing urgent, take a good rest, seems you've been overexerting lately."
Caitlin already received her desired favor, the matter concluded, she finished her coffee and got up to leave, while Jimmy sat back, picked up the newspaper, needing to catch up on New York's happenings.
