Jimmy didn't rush to the front, but instead turned to look at Hope's position: "Just one person? Where's the other?"
Hope: "They ran off in two directions, I could only follow one."
Jimmy cursed, raised his gun to aim at the person behind the tree, moved sideways a bit, "Bang bang," two consecutive shots, one hit the tree, the second hit the person's side, "Drop your weapon, raise your hands, surrender."
Having been hit twice in a row, the person in front also gave up, stretched out their gun-holding right hand from behind the tree, then dropped the gun on the ground, "Don't shoot, I surrender."
Jimmy: "Lie on the ground, hands on your head! Hope, catch him."
Jimmy aid his gun, Hope ran over from the side, twisted the guy's arm to cuff him, Jimmy: "Where's the other person? I'll go after him."
Hope: "Ran to the other side of the cabin."
Jimmy: "Be careful, I'll go after him."
Hope first pat down the captured person to make sure they had no weapons on them, then pulled him up to sit against the tree trunk. He put everything found on the ground together in one place, these things will be packed up and taken back.
Because of the gunfire earlier, Jimmy had been focused on Hope's side, scarcely paying attention to the other side. Now returning toward the cabin and about to chase the other direction, he suddenly heard the sound of a car engine, glanced around, and saw the car across the way was starting to turn around on the road.
Jimmy imdiately ran towards the highway, firing at the opposing car, but the distance was still a bit far, plus the car was moving, the bullet trajectory also slightly dipped, the bullet hit the car but didn't hit the driver.
Jimmy jumped into his car, started it up, and chased from behind, activating the hidden police lights and siren. The equipnt on the borrowed car was quite complete, Jimmy drove while explaining his situation to Hope over the phone, also asking him to call the police for backup and to send ambulances to rescue the victims.
After calling Hope, Jimmy himself also dialed 911, first reporting his identity, then explaining he was in pursuit of a suspect and needed city police to deploy forces ahead to intercept.
It wasn't that Jimmy was driving too slow, he purely started too late. The car speeding ahead had already made a turn at the intersection, out of his sight, and catching up would take so ti. The opponent was a desperado, driving recklessly.
The Kalin City Police Departnt certainly wouldn't have an easy day today, Jimmy had chased several blocks without seeing a single police car coming over, he didn't dare hang up his 911 call because he needed to continuously update his location, but many roads didn't have signs, and even though his mory was good, he couldn't rember the nas of all the streets while chasing soone and report them accurately. He could only ntion it when passing a street sign, letting the 911 dispatch center determine the location and plan police interception routes.
He also took the ti to have the 911 dispatch center inform the local police radio frequency, connecting the car radio frequency for easier subsequent communication.
Furthermore, the police departnt needed to allocate so officers to support Hope, there was still an injured person and a hostage over there, the scene protection and rescue operations needed to be carried out simultaneously, probably requiring quite a few officers to cross jurisdictions to handle it.
Jimmy almost lost the suspect several tis at the intersections due to their turns, the city was nothing like the highway; there were too many intersections, pedestrians, and vehicles, severely affecting Jimmy's speed. Although he had police lights and siren, he still had to slow down and observe crossings, which created quite a gap. Only when in a straight line could he get slightly closer.
Finally, Jimmy saw a police car ahead begin flashing its lights, chasing after the car ahead. He was closer and shouldn't be shaken off by the opponent.
What followed was a boring city chase; with Jimmy's pursuit, the streets and roads they passed beca chaotic, especially the car in front, running red lights and narrowly causing multiple intersection accidents, but it luckily made it through. The police car and Jimmy's car were blocked at the intersection. Both police and detectives had rules to follow, so regulations couldn't be ignored.
Over ten minutes later, Jimmy's phone rang again, Hope had police support on his end, now more officers were blocking off the cabin scene, he would accompany the gunshot suspect and the rescued girl to the hospital.
The chase continued for nearly half an hour, the car in front finally ran a red light at high speed at an intersection, swerving to avoid a vehicle already in the middle of the road, went into a drift and slipped, crashed into a car behind, and then spun half a circle, slid to the side, and hit a utility pole, halting completely, the police car slowed down and approached, Jimmy opened the car door, drew his gun, and ran over, entirely ignoring the usual protocol of confirming safety from a distance.
"Don't move, raise your hands, don't touch your weapon." Jimmy aid his gun at the driver in the cockpit, the airbag had already deployed, but there was obviously an issue, it hadn't inflated enough to press against the driver, now it was sowhat deflated.
The front of the car was already deford, the driver leaned over the steering wheel, blood was escaping from his mouth, looking very bad, his legs were likely trapped by the deford car body, yet his right hand remained to the side, although Jimmy could see he hadn't reached for a gun, he still needed to shout that warning.
After a quick check through the window, Jimmy holstered his Glock and told the officers behind him: "Call for a fire truck, he's stuck."
Two officers walked over and took a look, pressed their walkie-talkies to inform the dispatch center, requesting a fire truck with ergency dical capabilities, the situation required firefighters to cut and adjust the car body to extract the driver, and his condition was critical, necessitating on-site dical intervention, otherwise he'd arrive at the hospital as a corpse.
Jimmy helplessly watched the scene, this situation was the worst, the case they were handling was complicated, the more living suspects the better, the more people there are, the more clues, aiding their follow-up investigation.
Jimmy dialed Hope's number, described the situation on-site, then watched as the police busily worked.
That unlucky driver's luck wasn't great, when the firefighters rescued him, he was already beyond help, after ergency treatnt at the scene, he was imdiately rushed to the hospital, yet was nonetheless pronounced dead by the doctors.
Yet Jimmy and his team still had gains; a live suspect was receiving gunshot treatnt at the hospital and temporarily detained in a ward, with two officers guarding him, as for the rescued girl, now freed, she had been given drugs earlier, remaining unconscious, she would need to awaken naturally.
Hope called Saint Louis's office, having made tangible progress, the other side agreed to cooperate, two agents and a forensic team would co the next day to take over the cabin and the car Jimmy chased as evidence for a comprehensive investigation.
Later that night, the girl finally awoke, Jimmy and Hope were notified and promptly arrived, they had been in that suspect's hospital room conducting preliminary interrogation, which wasn't very effective given the circumstances, there were limited things they could do, police were standing guard outside, certain thods couldn't be used.
Once the girl regained consciousness, she imdiately began struggling, fortunately with the nurse's assistance, she quickly realized she was now in a hospital, not where she had been previously held, and then clung to the nurse, sobbing.
When Jimmy and his team arrived, this was the scene they saw, they could only stand aside as the nurse cald the girl, until she ceased crying.
