Regarding rcenaries, although Jimmy has never dealt with them, he knows a bit about them. Most are like war hyenas, and they can be motivated by money, but coming all the way to the United States for comrades who might die at any mont, and retaliating against law enforcent officers, seems a bit over the top.

The possibility is very low; you only need to notify others to pay attention, no need to specifically target them.

However, Jimmy was still too optimistic. He had just returned for half a day when in the afternoon, Mahong and Neil ca to the Homicide Team's office, "Jimmy, sothing's happened."

Jimmy looked at the two, puzzled: "What happened? Sit down and talk."

Mahong looked at Neil, and Neil continued: "Do you rember that broker? He was approached at his temporary residence this morning. If he hadn't had a backup escape route, we might have lost contact with him."

Jimmy: "This morning? What ti?"

Neil: "Around 7 o'clock."

Jimmy: "Tell in detail, what exactly happened to him."

Neil: "He had just returned from outside in the morning and was getting ready to rest when soone knocked on the door. He saw through the peephole it was one of the people from the last art transaction and imdiately jumped out the window to escape. The person behind didn't catch up to him."

Jimmy: "Did they break in to chase him?"

Neil: "He didn't say."

Jimmy looked at Mahong with furrowed brows: "Did you go to the scene to check?"

Mahong: "Not yet, Neil got the call and we ca over here."

Jimmy: "Let's go, we'll take a look together. Mark, you stay in the office."

Mark acknowledged, and Jimmy and the others left the office. Neil contacted the broker again to confirm his residence, and the three of them drove to Brooklyn.

In a secluded corner, Mahong stopped the car to pick up soone from the roadside, and they continued to drive forward to stop in front of a row house.

Mahong, Neil, and the person they picked up got out of the car, followed by Jimmy. Neil introduced Jimmy: "The broker, you've t him."

The broker: "Falcknei."

Jimmy nodded at Falcknei: "Is it here?"

Falcknei: "Yes, I haven't co back since I left."

Jimmy took a glance at the house. It was a three-story building with no one else inside, but he noticed nurous secret compartnts and what seed to be firearms. From his vantage point, the room didn't appear to be in disarray.

Jimmy: "Do you have surveillance here?"

Falcknei: "Only one in the living room, covering the entrance."

Jimmy: "The door hasn't been broken, Mahong, will you handle it?"

Mahong nodded, and he drew his Glock and said to Falcknei: "Falcknei, open the door, let's check the surveillance."

Falcknei stepped forward to look at the lock: "It's not broken, they might not have co in to chase ."

Mahong: "Didn't you say they were chasing you?"

Falcknei: "I was just thinking about running at that ti…"

Everyone was speechless. Falcknei was probably terrified by the transaction day and beca extrely skittish, running at the slightest noise.

Mahong: "Let's go in and check the surveillance first."

As they expected, since Falcknei saw through the peephole that it was one of the people involved in the art transaction, he scared himself and ran fast, without considering if the person really wanted to bother him. The person didn't even enter, so the living room surveillance naturally caught nothing, though it did capture a bit of Falcknei's escape in action.

Mahong: "You're sure the person who ca is one of them, right?"

Falcknei: "I'm sure. I swear it really was."

Mahong turned his head to glance at Jimmy, then turned back: "Okay, I got it. We'll investigate around here first."

Mahong signaled Jimmy to leave, while Neil stayed in the room with Falcknei.

Mahong and Jimmy stepped outside: "What do you think?"

Jimmy: "Now it seems that the person might not have co to kill Falcknei, but to investigate information. At the very least, they must have observed Falcknei for so ti, otherwise, they wouldn't have happened to co looking for him just as he returned to rest.

But Falcknei fleeing like that will definitely intensify their suspicions, worrying that Falcknei might be plotting with soone against them, making their next actions unpredictable.

Additionally, although it may sound far-fetched, I believe there might be a surveillance point they prepared nearby, though I'm not sure what type. Maybe it's in a house sowhere, or perhaps an inconspicuous video surveillance point on the roadside."

Mahong nodded: "I think the sa, it seems the people who didn't get caught last ti don't plan to give up and want to co back to cause trouble."

Jimmy: "I rember there were at least two people on the run last ti, right? Do you have any new information in the past few days?"

Mahong: "No, it's as if they've disappeared. Also, we haven't received any information about the stolen art pieces being sold through any channels. It seems our previous estimate that they might sell them soon was a bit too optimistic."

Jimmy: "Maybe it's not that they don't want to sell but because so many of their people died, they simply don't have the capacity to sell them in a short ti. It might still be possible that they ca to Falcknei hoping he'd act as a middleman for another transaction, though it's unlikely, it's still a possibility."

Mahong: "Hmm, I'll arrange for the follow-up investigation. Could you lend Mark for a few days?"

Jimmy: "Sure, he'll go with you. I'll head back to the office to be on duty. Call if you need anything."
