Jimmy and the others successfully captured the motorcyclist who was surveilling them, and returned smoothly. The inspection at Mark and Julia's side also ended quickly; it was just an ordinary house, very clean inside, and nothing illicit or unusual was found.
Jimmy and the others stood outside the interrogation room while Riley and another agent interrogated the motorcyclist inside, mainly asking about identity confirmation and why he was monitoring the FBI investigation.
One round of interrogation couldn't solve the case, everyone knew this. Jimmy and the others simply watched for a while before leaving the interrogation room to rest in a eting room.
Jimmy's phone rang. He glanced at it and picked up, "Neil, any news?"
Neil's voice on the other end wasn't good, "Yang, sothing's happened. Where are you?"
Jimmy: "I'm in Newark, New Jersey. What's wrong?"
Neil paused, "The investigation you asked to conduct has preliminary results, but the person is dead, three days ago."
Jimmy was stunned. What's going on? All the clues they managed to find were breaking off, all because people were dying. Who exactly are these people?
Jimmy: "Where? I'll send soone for a check."
Neil: "Bronx. But if you're not in Manhattan, I can notify Mahong..."
Jimmy: "Okay, let him handle it. We previously suspected this might be part of a case."
Neil and Jimmy discussed the location, then hung up.
Jimmy took a sip of coffee provided by the Newark office, rethinking Neil's words.
The address Neil ntioned was very close to where Oliver died, and Jimmy had asked him to find the maker of the false passport. The location where the maker died was close to where Oliver died. Is there a possibility that the sa group did it?
This group of robbers is sowhat reckless. These people helped them with so many things, yet they chose to eliminate all the interdiaries to hide their traces and information. They definitely went overboard.
Jimmy thought for a mont and said, "Mark, take charge here, keep an eye on Riley's interrogation results. I need to go back to New York, there's a new lead there. Julia, co with ."
Mark: "How to handle the follow-up here?"
Jimmy: "Depends on the interrogation results. If there's news, inform . Also, cooperate well with Riley; after all, this is their territory."
Mark nodded, "Got it."
Jimmy took them to the interrogation room, where Riley was still interrogating the guy monitoring them, with not much progress. Jimmy knocked on the door and gestured for Riley to co.
Riley ca out, "What's up?"
Jimmy: "Our team found sothing new in New York, I need to go back and investigate. Riley, I'll leave this to you, Mark will stay here."
Riley: "Does your new lead relate to us?"
Jimmy: "No, it's not certain yet. I'll contact you if needed."
Riley: "Okay, let's proceed separately then. Don't worry, I'll handle things here."
Jimmy said goodbye to Riley and left the Newark office.
Riley's efforts actually serve their own interests too; for the FBI, handling murder cases is routine—doing well is expected, doing poorly just ans shelving the case—there isn't much sense of achievent. But investigating espionage is entirely different.
Jimmy had shared initial information with Riley, stating this case wasn't an ordinary murder. A false passport was found near the deceased; for soone able to use a false passport who seed otherwise ordinary, it appeared they had a special mission, perhaps as a spy, especially since this potential spy lived in New Jersey, within their office's jurisdiction. If handled well, this would count as quite an accomplishnt for him, that's why he's so keen.
Jimmy originally arranged only for Mark and Julia to investigate, considering it a regular murder case. After discovering the false passport, he fully involved himself, because this might be an espionage case beyond their team's purview, not a common case for them.
But now it seems, this case might differ from what Jimmy and the team initially thought. Oliver Morgan is unlikely to be the spy, probably just soone who handled tasks in exchange for money, and was eliminated after completing his part.
However, Jimmy didn't disclose all the information he had to Riley. Riley's facts were speculation, not conclusions, needing further verification. Plus, Mahong's robbery case, that one is the main focus.
Jimmy and Julia returned to the Manhattan office, just as Mahong and his team were about to leave, "Jimmy, you're just in ti. We found an interdiary; soone's contacting him to sell so artworks, including a few stolen from the auction house."
Jimmy stared at Mahong in surprise, "Is the information confird?"
Mahong: "The news ca from Neil, who just parted from the interdiary. Let's go, together."
Jimmy and the team barely had ti to rest, imdiately heading downstairs, joining Mahong's car as they left the office.
Jimmy and Mahong's team quickly found Neil, who didn't wait for Mahong to ask, saying directly, "I think we've caught their tail. The interdiary just told the other party gave a very short ti, demanding to find a client today, and transact tomorrow—this is the final deadline. The robbers seem very eager to sell the artworks."
