Late at night, around eleven o’clock, Sophie Smith returned to her single apartnt. She was just about to take a bath when she suddenly rembered that she hadn’t picked up Alexander from school today, nor had she inford Julia to do it for her...
How could she be so muddle-headed?
She quickly took out her phone and dialed the kindergarten principal’s number.
"Hello, I am Alexander’s mom, sorry to bother you late at night..." Sophie’s voice was a mix of urgency and remorse, "I forgot to pick up Alexander today. Is he at your place now?"
"Oh, Miss Smith, you don’t need to worry, Alexander was picked up today by soone."
Picked up?
"Who was it?"
"Oh, it was Mr. Nolan Davis. Alexander waited a long ti at school today, but you didn’t show up to pick him up. I was about to call you, but then Alexander took out a notebook from his backpack and asked to dial the number written inside... that number was Mr. Davis’s. Around five o’clock in the afternoon, he ca and picked up Alexander." The principal explained thoroughly to Sophie.
Sophie couldn’t help but feel relieved, "Thank you, Principal."
After saying that, she hung up the phone.
She stood in front of the window, feeling a mix of emotions.
Alexander indeed relied heavily on Nolan Davis. Like today, when she didn’t pick him up, he directly called Nolan Davis...
Sophie vaguely felt that this wasn’t a good thing.
After all, Nolan Davis isn’t Alexander’s biological father.

"Sir, a towel." Amanda handed Nolan Davis a clean towel, which he casually accepted.
Alexander had fallen asleep, so his actions were very gentle. Amanda couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Nolan Davis now seed like a doting father, treating Sophie’s child as if he were his own.
After drying Alexander off, he helped him change into pajamas and carried him to the bedroom.
"Uncle Davis..." As soon as Nolan Davis laid Alexander on the bed and hadn’t even straightened up, Alexander awoke.
"Hmm? What’s up?" he spoke softly, rubbing his little head with his big hand.
"Nothing, it’s just that tomorrow is the weekend, so I don’t have to go to school. I want to stay at your place tomorrow."
"Sure, it’s just right since I don’t have to go to the office tomorrow either. I can teach you to assemble your toy racing car."
"Great." Alexander bead with joy, "Then I’ll ask mommy to co over too."
Nolan Davis nodded, tucking him in, "Rest early, goodnight."
After that, Nolan Davis was about to turn off the light.
"Uncle Davis, do you like mommy?" Although he had asked this many tis before, Alexander seed to want to confirm it every day.
"Yes."
"Do you want mommy to marry you?" Alexander looked at Nolan Davis with innocent eyes, full of expectation.
Nolan Davis’s lips curved slightly, his gaze indulgent.
Did he want Sophie to marry him?
"Of course, I do."
"That’s good..." Alexander pulled the blanket over his head, and a muffled voice ca from inside, "Actually, I really want Uncle Davis to be my dad too."
