"Did Luke not co over?" Sophie glanced around, trying to spot Luke Land. It seed unlikely that Luke Land would let Eva Miller out alone.
"He’s waiting in the car for . How could we let him hear the things we talk about as girlfriends?"
"How are things between you recently?" Sophie asked tentatively.
Sophie had always been unsure about the relationship between Eva Miller and Luke Land. After all, she knew that Eva Miller married Luke Land not because of love.
"Good? What good? That bastard." Eva Miller cursed Luke Land unexpectedly.
"Is he treating you poorly? What’s he done to you?" Sophie was a bit anxious. "Is he abusing you?"
Ha, abuse? Impossible. If there’s any abuse, it would be her abusing him.
"Eva, please tell what’s really happening between you and Luke." Hearing Eva Miller’s tone, it seed like she was at a loss, and Sophie grew more worried.
Could Eva Miller say that she found Luke Land all too good simply because he treated her too well?
It sounded as if it defied any logic...
She just felt guilty in her heart. She thought that since her marriage with Luke Land was just for two years and she didn’t love him, yet she had to accept his kindness. That wasn’t what she wanted, so each ti this issue would leave her restless, disturbed...
"Alright, let’s stop talking about Luke Land. I have a few questions to ask you, and you have to answer completely and honestly." Eva Miller’s expression was serious and earnest, looking like she was about to interrogate her.
"Do I have the right to refuse to answer?"
"No, you must speak without reservation."
"..."
Eva Miller cleared her throat, "First question, why did Irene Morton leave?"
"She didn’t want to ruin my relationship with Asher Land."
"Ha!" Eva Miller scoffed twice, "How is that possible? Is she that kind-hearted? That generous? Did President Land drive her away, or was it her decision?"
"Her decision."
Eva Miller felt as though she’d been struck by lightning. Irene Morton actually chose to leave?
"Is she playing mind gas, pretending to leave on the surface, while secretly planning so shady deeds?"
"Eva." Sophie shook her head helplessly, "Stop speculating. Irene... she has really let go."
"Whatever, I can’t trust that woman." Eva Miller pouted, "And what about President Land? Did he go after her?"
"No." At least, he hadn’t done so in front of her. In Asher Land’s mind, Irene Morton leaving was the best outco for them. Although she believed Asher Land wouldn’t seek her out, it didn’t an he wouldn’t have soone secretly protecting her...
But those were just trivial matters now. Irene Morton lived safely, and she and Asher Land had a peaceful life. There was nothing wrong with that.
Seeing Sophie’s calm deanor, Eva Miller couldn’t remain anxious on her own. She decided to trust Irene Morton for once. She also hoped that Irene Morton truly repented.
The two chatted happily for a long ti. Sophie felt fortunate that she had such a caring and considerate friend by her side, no matter when. Eva Miller wanted her to be happy, and wasn’t that what she hoped for too?
"Eva, can you live well with Luke and forget about Mr. Johnson?"
Sophie stubbornly believed in her heart that Luke Land and Eva Miller were perfectly suited for each other.
