She looked at Jas Bennett lying motionless, her lips trembling as she said, "I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, I shouldn’t have acted impulsively, I shouldn’t have pushed you, I was wrong."

As Maya Spencer apologized, tears ’pitter-pattered’ down onto her and Jas Bennett’s hands; however, Jas Bennett still showed no signs of waking up.

Seeing no reaction even after her apology, Maya cried more sorrowfully.

She grabbed Jas Bennett’s large hand, tightly pressing it against her face, sobbing uncontrollably, "Please wake up, okay? I don’t bla you, I don’t hate you, as long as you wake up, I’ll agree to anything, okay?"

"Dad! I’m really sorry, please don’t punish , okay? I beg you." After her wailing, Maya inadvertently called out "dad," her subconscious wishing for this father, hoping he would be well.

Therefore, she beca less sharp; she just hoped Jas Bennett would be okay.

Yet, Maya’s tears and apologies did not awaken Jas Bennett imdiately; he was still in a coma.

Maya held his hand, crying harder. Eventually, she held onto Jas Bennett’s arm tightly, not letting go, wanting him to feel her presence, hoping he would wake up soon.

After that day, Maya often stayed in the ward without leaving. When Sophia Bennett saw her again, she no longer resented her and instead accompanied her in the ward, keeping watch over Jas.

Three days later, the doctor perford a routine check-up on Jas Bennett but did not find any signs of improvent.

The two listened to the doctor’s report with furrowed brows, not relaxing.

After the doctor left, Sophia sat by the bedside, her legs on the chair, hands on her knees, resting her chin, staring at Maya, and asked, "Maya, what on earth is happening? Even with you here, my uncle hasn’t woken up. Why don’t you call him ’dad’ a few more tis? Maybe that’ll wake him up."

Hearing Sophia’s suggestion, Maya felt troubled. Though she had started calling Jas Bennett ’dad,’ she wasn’t accustod to doing it casually, and Jas Bennett was still unconscious, unable to respond to her, making her solo act difficult.

Moreover, she knew in her heart that even without incessantly calling "dad," Jas Bennett could still feel her presence, and he would surely wake up.

Sophia saw Maya standing still and quickly jumped off the chair, walked over to Maya, pulling her arm, saying, "Maya, call him! Call ’dad’ a few more tis, and my uncle will wake up."

"Sophia, stop fooling around. I’m here, dad can feel it, and he will wake up." Being urged to call "dad," Maya felt a bit embarrassed.

So, when she said "dad" this ti, it was particularly quiet, like a thief sneaking around.

Sophia, seeing Maya disobey her, lifted her right hand and pinched Maya’s arm hard, "Ah..." Maya yelped in pain, imdiately releasing Sophia’s hand, stepping back a few steps, glaring at her, asking, "Sophia, why did you pinch ?"

"You’ve started calling him ’dad,’ and my uncle still isn’t awake, so he probably hasn’t heard it. If I make you cry, my uncle would surely feel distressed and get up right away to confront . Maya, just co over willingly and let give you a beat-up."

"..." Maya listened to Sophia’s analysis, wanting to cry but having no tears. If such a trick could indeed wake Jas Bennett, she would willingly let Sophia beat her to tears.

Helplessly, the day she arrived at the hospital, she had cried enough, yet Jas Bennett showed no reaction.

As Maya stood speechless and wooden, Sophia unknowingly approached her again, lifting her right hand, pinching Maya’s arm hard once more.

"Ah..." Maya yelped from the pain but didn’t cry, only shouted loudly, "Sophia, let go, let go now!"

"Maya, cry! Once you cry, my uncle will wake up to confront ."

"I can’t cry."

In such a situation, Maya simply couldn’t cry, besides she wasn’t accustod to crying in front of Sophia.

"Miss Sophia, what are you doing?" At this mont, Alexander Thompson arrived.

He looked at Sophia and Maya in the ward, furrowing his brow, unable to decipher what tricks they were up to.

"Nothing." Maya imdiately pushed Sophia away, rubbing her arm to explain.

"Miss Maya, there’s sothing I must report to you; we need you to step in and take charge." Alexander Thompson’s expression was very serious, as if sothing major had indeed happened.

Seeing this, Maya promptly said, "Assistant Thompson, just tell what’s going on, I’ll definitely help if I can."

At this mont, any matter beneficial to Jas Bennett, Maya was willing to do.

Alexander Thompson glanced at Maya, reluctantly saying, "It’s been a week since the Chairman fell into a coma, and word leaked from the hospital earlier. Now, panic has spread within the company with many shareholders proposing to withdraw their investnts. If they all cash out at this ti, it’ll undoubtedly harm the Bennetts significantly. The proxy CEO hired by the Chairman can’t withstand it anymore, so we need Miss Maya to step in and take charge. Having a Bennett family mber step up should be effective."

"..." Hearing that it was a company issue, Maya was dumbfounded as she was completely clueless about managing a company. How could she possibly persuade shareholders to stay and not cash out? This put her in a difficult position.

She paused for a mont, cautiously saying, "I don’t understand anything about managing the company, and isn’t this just kicking soone when they’re down? How could they make such demands while my dad is ill?"

Seeing the anger and helplessness between Maya’s brows, Alexander Thompson helplessly explained, "Those shareholders followed the Chairman to make more money, but over the past few years, he hasn’t been involved in the company’s affairs. Although they were disappointed, they didn’t dare to criticize much. However, now that the Chairman is ill, they see it as a good ti to jump ship."

"Although I have explained to everyone that you are the Chairman’s daughter, we have good relationships with the Hanson Clan and the Owen Clan, and our group is also a major conglorate, so there’s no need to worry."

"But sohow, rumors spread through the dia that you’ve fallen out with the third young master, who has been on a business trip, and when he returns, he plans to make significant moves against the Bennetts. This caused an uproar, with nearly all the shareholders other than the Chairman clamoring to cash out."

"After the Chairman learned you were his daughter, he drafted a will, leaving all his assets to you. If Miss Maya can step up and clarify so things, it would certainly be beneficial for the company."

What Alexander Thompson ant was nothing more than asking Maya to clear up that she and Liam Spencer hadn’t broken up, and he wouldn’t oppose the Bennetts, in order to stabilize the situation.
