If he’s not here because of ’fate,’ not because he wants to pursue her, and not even because of Third Brother’s involvent,
then why exactly is this man involved? Maya Spencer pondered deeply.
Sitting at the desk, Maya picked up the brush again, writing and contemplating about Jas Bennett.
Her contemplation lasted until four-thirty in the afternoon, when Liam Spencer ca ho and interrupted it.
In the bedroom, Liam picked out a light blue down jacket from the wardrobe and placed it on Maya, pinching her small face, asking, "What’s wrong? Still upset over Christopher Scott?"
"No, I’m not thinking about Christopher Scott, just pondering my own issues." Maya gently grasped Liam’s coat with her small hands, looking up and replying sweetly.
Her intuition told her that Third Brother had been acting strange lately, especially when it ca to Jas Bennett, treating him differently than others.
She thought about it today; maybe it’s because he admires Jas Bennett, so he treats him with extra respect.
However, despite this, in the matter of Jas Bennett’s friendliness towards her, Liam seed overly generous, more so than with Christopher Scott.
At that mont, a small fla ignited in Maya’s heart, making her feel that sothing important was about to happen.
Liam’s mind was quick, and seeing the heaviness in Maya’s expression, he could guess what she was thinking.
He knew she was suspecting Jas Bennett, suspecting that there might be deeper intentions in his attitude towards her.
Liam lowered his head, looking into Maya’s eyes, nonchalantly pinching her small face and asking, "What are you thinking about? Can you talk to Third Brother?"
"It’s nothing much, just so wild thoughts. I’ll tell you when I have a bit more certainty." Maya said this while her eyes steadfastly stared at Liam, as if trying to glean so useful information from his gaze.
But Liam’s nonchalant deanor revealed nothing to her.
"Let’s go then! Let’s not keep Chairman Bennett waiting." Liam rubbed the girl’s head gently and said.
He thought, once Maya and Jas Bennett’s relationship improves, he’d have Jas find so ti to confess and reveal the whole truth to Maya. After all, at the current rate, Maya would have started forming so suspicions and be sowhat prepared.
Once she’s calm and able to accept Jas Bennett, then telling her about it shouldn’t be an issue.
As he thought about this, he took Maya’s hand and led her into the car, heading towards Jas Bennett’s villa.
An hour later, Liam arrived with Maya at Jas Bennett’s villa.
This ti, upon entering the house, Maya directly asked the maid, "Where’s Sophia Bennett?"
"Miss was at ho at noon and went out again in the afternoon."
"She’s definitely gone to pester Christopher Scott." Maya comnted indifferently.
Liam could only shake his head helplessly, thinking how bizarre Sophia Bennett was, scaring Christopher Scott to the point he didn’t dare return to his company.
After the eting earlier, Christopher Scott didn’t even return to Scott Clan Group but stayed at Owen Clan Group instead.
"Maya, Liam, you’re here!" Jas Bennett ca out from the kitchen full of smiles, a pair of glasses perched on his nose, making him look gentle, like a professor, yet still very much fitting the category of a male idol.
Maya turned quickly at the sound of Jas Bennett’s voice, staring intently at him.
She thought, that man was cooking for her again. Even if a man was courting a woman, he wouldn’t usually have such patience, right? Not to ntion he was also kind to her boyfriend.
The more Maya thought about it, the more suspicious it seed. She was curious about Jas Bennett, even more curious about why he was still single and not married.
So, she casually asked, "Chairman Bennett, you’re cooking again?"
"Yes! Whatever you like, Uncle can make it for you."
"Uncle Bennett, can I learn to cook from you? My cooking skills are really poor, I’m afraid Third Brother might complain in the future." Maya moved closer to Jas Bennett, not really intending to learn cooking but to know more about him and draw him into a conversation.
Jas Bennett, thrilled that Maya wanted to learn culinary skills from him, imdiately said, "Sure! Then Uncle will teach you starting with the basics."
"Okay!" Maya said as she quickly headed towards Jas Bennett, following him into the kitchen.
In the living room, Liam watched Maya’s retreating figure, smiling helplessly. He thought, he hoped once the truth was revealed, Maya would still accept Jas Bennett as she did now, without any fuss.
After Maya went into the kitchen, Liam stayed in the living room watching TV, not feeling out of place at all.
Initially, he considered joining Maya in the kitchen, but then thought it’d be better for the two of them to be alone achieving emotional closeness.
So, he stayed in the living room.
In the kitchen, Jas Bennett said, "Maya, Uncle will first teach you to make ribs, isn’t that your favorite?"
"Sure! Is there anything you need help with?" Maya looked at the gentle man in front of her, constantly smiling and no longer opposed him.
Seeing Maya’s smile, Jas Bennett looked overjoyed and felt a burst of happiness, enjoying this sensation.
To keep Maya from getting bored, Jas hastily picked up a garlic bulb and handed it to her, saying, "Help peel this garlic."
"Okay!" Maya took the garlic, staring straight at Jas Bennett.
She noticed how delighted Jas was having her help. But why was he so happy? She was just peeling garlic, nothing particularly joyous about that.
Even though Maya was filled with questions, she didn’t directly ask Jas, fearing that such bluntness might alert him and make him wary.
So, she didn’t confront him sharply but said with a smile, "Uncle Bennett, calling you uncle makes you sound old. How about I call you Brother Bennett instead? It seems more fitting for our relationship."
"Sure! As long as you’re happy, it’s all good." Jas Bennett clearly pleased with the idea of Maya calling him Brother Bennett.
Maya took a deep breath, seeing the man’s happy face, gently biting her lower lip, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye, and casually asking, "Brother Bennett, you’re so capable and distinguished, why haven’t you married? It seems a pity. If you were married, your kids might already be as grown as Sophia and I are."
Hearing Maya’s question, Jas Bennett flinched slightly, instantly understanding why Maya wanted to learn cooking from him.
Liam wasn’t wrong at all. She’s smart and quickly deduced the reason behind things.
Jas took a deep breath, stirring the ribs in the pot, saying helplessly, "These things are about fate. When fate cos, you can’t stop it. If it doesn’t co, I might live alone for the rest of my life."
Jas’s response was very diplomatic, evidently brushing off Maya.
Maya continued asking, "Haven’t you ever liked anyone? Never been in a relationship?"
