Maya Spencer was dumbfounded when she heard Ella Turner’s decision.
She thought Ella wouldn’t leave S City. After all, she had been here for many years, and Ethan Turner had bought two apartnts, initially one for each of the siblings. Now, both were under Ella’s na. S City was where the two siblings had worked hard together, and besides, Elijah Reed was still in S City.
She never expected Ella would make such a decision in the end. Maya couldn’t bear to let her go, but she also couldn’t force her to stay.
So, she could only pitiably hold her hand and ask, "Ella, have you really decided?"
"Yeah! My brother is gone, and Elijah doesn’t like either. But Maya, I’ll still co back to visit you when I have ti. You can co to my hotown to play if you have the chance." Ella forced a smile to show her inner helplessness.
Although she was reluctant, there was nothing she could do. When Elijah’s shadow crossed her mind, she felt comforted, yet also regretful. Thinking of how he avoided her, she felt awkward, not knowing what kind of girl Elijah thought she was. Would he still tremble with fear when he thought of her in the future?
At this mont, a bitter and helpless smile appeared on her lips. In the end, she couldn’t have a good beginning with Elijah.
Looking at the sadness in the girl’s eyes, Maya furrowed her brows tightly. She couldn’t understand what was wrong with Elijah. Even if he’d never been in a relationship, he shouldn’t be avoiding Ella like this. It wasn’t easy for her to see a boy evading a girl like this; the world is really full of all kinds.
If Ella liked any other boy, he would probably be overjoyed.
Maya took a deep breath and comforted her, "Yeah! Going back to accompany your parents is good too. I’ll co to visit you when I have ti."
"Thank you, Maya."
"When are you planning to leave?"
"The flight is at 10 AM tomorrow, and I’ve already bought the ticket," Ella said with a smile.
Now that her brother’s case had been solved, she had no ties in S City, and staying served no purpose. She didn’t want to remain here, secretly keeping track of Elijah’s life. Such days were difficult. She would rather keep her distance, so she wouldn’t constantly think of him.
"I’ll see you off tomorrow," Maya said, biting her lip as if contemplating sothing further.
Ella looked at Maya for a mont, hesitating to speak several tis.
Actually, before leaving, she wanted to see him once more, even from a distance, to simply catch a glimpse. Perhaps he was still avoiding her, but Ella still wanted to see him.
After all, apart from her father and brother, he was the first man she liked. Her heart was unwilling to just leave without a goodbye; she was not reconciled.
Even though Elijah didn’t like her, she still wanted to say thank you, to thank him for standing by her side during her most painful tis.
Maya noticed Ella’s gaze, seeing her swallow her words several tis. She knew Ella wanted to ask her to tell Elijah about her departure, hoping to see him before she left.
Therefore, without waiting for Ella to speak, she said first, "Since you are leaving, I will ask Elijah to co to the airport to see you off. Maybe this is a farewell forever. If you can’t be lovers, you can still be ordinary friends, don’t you think?"
"Yeah, yeah! Thank you, Maya."
So, for the rest of the day, Maya was busy helping Ella pack her luggage. Until 5 PM in the evening, after having dinner with Ella, she hurried ho to be with Liam Spencer.
When Maya just got ho, she happened to bump into Liam coming back.
The man, seeing her back early, pinched her little face and asked, "Why didn’t you play a little longer? I could have picked you up tonight."
"It’s nothing. Ella wanted so ti alone," Maya said indifferently, though, in reality, she had matters weighing on her mind, which is why she ca back early.
However, she didn’t tell Liam imdiately. Instead, after dinner, as she ca out of the bathroom having finished her bath, she looked at Liam on the bed and spoke nonchalantly, "Ella decided to return to her hotown."
"Oh!" Liam replied lightly without much emotional reaction, seemingly not realizing anything else.
Maya looked at his calmness, furrowed her brows, and stood there staring at him for a while. Seeing he still hadn’t reacted, Maya couldn’t understand and thought perhaps Elijah really didn’t have any feelings for Ella, and Liam had known all along?
But a mont later, Liam seed to realize sothing, suddenly raised his head, looked at Maya, and asked, "She’s going back to her hotown? Not coming to S City?"
"Yes!"
"Then what about her and Elijah?" Liam finally gossiped.
At this, Maya perked up, walked closer to the big bed, sat cross-legged by his side, and anxiously said, "That’s why I wanted to ask you what Elijah is thinking. Does he have a girlfriend? What type does he like? I saw he was pretty nice to Ella before, why suddenly ignore her? Who behaves like this?"
Maya had a bunch of questions in her heart, but usually, Liam wouldn’t be gossiping about Elijah’s affairs. Elijah’s taste in girls, Liam honestly didn’t know.
Faced with a host of questions from Maya, he was at a loss, unable to answer even one.
So, he picked up his phone from the bedside table and dialed Elijah’s number.
Once connected, Liam lazily asked, "Elijah, what are you doing?"
"Huh?" Usually, when Liam called, he would get straight to the point. This ti, with Liam suddenly seeming concerned about what he was doing, Elijah was taken aback.
After a brief pause, he quickly explained, "I’m not doing anything, just reading."
"Ella is leaving tomorrow."
"Oh!" Elijah was still confused, unable to understand why the BOSS suddenly ntioned Ella. He was thinking, could the BOSS be asked by Miss Five to play matchmaker for him and Ella?
Thinking of this, the smile on Elijah’s face beca awkward.
However, then he heard Liam say, "Tomorrow’s flight is at 10 AM. Go see her off. It might be the last ti you see each other."
Hearing the words "last ti," Elijah realized that Ella wouldn’t be coming back after leaving this ti, no wonder the BOSS called him personally.
He took a deep breath, nodded, and said, "Okay."
Shortly afterward, Liam hung up the phone. Maya watched his calm deanor and realized that this call wouldn’t yield any useful information from Elijah.
Maya scratched her hair, pouting and asking confusedly, "How did things turn out this way? I always thought they would be together."
"You can’t force feelings, Maya. You should go to sleep. You were lost in thought all night yesterday. Go to sleep," Liam said, pulling Maya into his arms, sliding under the covers, and patting her back to lull her to sleep.
However, Maya was still preoccupied with Ella leaving tomorrow and couldn’t fall asleep no matter how hard she tried.
Liam, though, was patient and comforted her until late into the night. Only after Maya fell asleep out of exhaustion did he close his eyes and slowly drift into sleep.
