There were a total of six players in this year’s Skills Challenge: the three top point guards from the 2005 class, Felton, Deron, Paul.
The other three participants were the defending champion Wade, last year’s participant Jas, and first-ti entrant Kobe.
There were rumors that the original invitation list included the three big stars from the 2003 class and the three talented point guards from the 2005 class, but when the list reached Stern, he crossed out Anthony’s na and invited the forr champion Nash instead, and Nash accepted.
However, just a week before the All-Star Weekend, Nash got injured, which led to Kobe being invited instead.
This was the first official NBA event Kobe was invited to since the 2003 Eagle County incident.
