After the series, even the Bucks fans joked among themselves—on the bright side, aren’t we always improving? The point gap is getting smaller. If the series had 10 gas, there would definitely be a day we’d win.
The series between the Bobcats and the Bucks was the least suspenseful in the East, and there were two series without suspense over in the West as well—Lakers VS Jazz Team.
Although the Lakers were fifth, they had a better record. Starting at ho, they won the first two gas, not by as much as the Bobcats, but still won by a total of 31 points, 101 to 86 and 94 to 78 respectively. By ga 3, the Jazz Team at ho seed to have given up resisting, their defense collapsed, letting the Lakers score 122 points. Yet the Jazz Team didn’t unleash their offense, scoring only 81 points, suffering a brutal 41-point loss.
In ga 4, the Lakers seed to start playing casually, easily defeating the Jazz Team 105 to 96, sweeping the series 4-0 to advance to the second round.
Another Western series without suspense surprised many and gave a breath of relief for fans who had been holding in frustration—Spurs VS Thunder Team.
The Spurs had a shooting percentage of 51% throughout the series, 3 percentage points higher than in the regular season, averaging 111 points per ga, surpassing the Bobcats’ average of 109 points and the Lakers’ 105.5 points, an absolute advantage to sweep the Thunder Team and advance to the second round.
This result seed surprising at first, but considering the 14-ga win gap between the two teams, the Spurs maintained about an 80% win rate from the start to the end of the regular season, and the Thunder Team, by the season end, relied on picking up a top sixth man, Livingston, from the Clippers to secure a playoff spot in the last days, it’s actually not unexpected.
The strength gap between the Thunder Team and the Spurs was not much less than that between the Miami Heat and the Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers then defeated the Miami Heat 4-1, Wade’s individual performance was not inferior to Jas, even gaining an edge during the few stalemates, but the overall strength gap was too large, and the Miami Heat exited without much suspense.
The fifth team to advance was the Magic Team. With Howard in his pri, the Celtics, consisting of average second-tier stars, got a taste of what a ’superstar’ ans. Over 5 gas, he averaged 18.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, and 5.2 blocks, leading the Magic Team to a 4-1 victory over the Celtics, eting Jas in the second round.
The remaining 3 series were exceptionally intense.
The Trail Blazers were tougher than Dallas fans anticipated. The Mavericks had a significant advantage initially, leading 3-0, and Roy was injured and left in Ga 2, apparently out for the season, but he returned in Ga 4, leading the team to win two consecutive gas, narrowing it to 2-3. Fortunately, in Ga 4, Nowitzki erupted in the second half, scoring 9 points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth, leading the team to a 109-104 win over the Trail Blazers, eventually advancing 4-2 to the second round.
The ga between the Chicago Bulls and the Hawks Team was pretty ’traditional’, with each holding onto their ho court. In the pivotal Ga 5, the Chicago Bulls narrowly won 87 to 83 on their ho court, and in Ga 6, Yao Ming and Hinrich combined for 50 points, decisively defeating the Hawks Team, advancing 4-2 to the second round to et Zhang Yang again.
The process didn’t look complicated, but the gas were intensely fought. The Hawks Team, a group of players who excelled in the playoffs, had a lot of scoring stars from the periter, and like the Bobcats of the past two years, the Chicago Bulls’ win ca from their advantage in the inside. Horford once again suffered from a beating.
The Grizzlies lived up to their reputation as the league’s strongest irritant, with the Phoenix Suns becoming the unfortunate victim. After taking two ho gas, the Suns dominated the second away ga, leading 3-1, only to be dragged into a ga 7 by Gerald Wallace!
On May 7th, as the second round’s initial gas between the Cavaliers and the Magic Team, Lakers and Spurs comnced, the Suns only managed to defeat the Grizzlies 4-3 in a ga 7, with a score of 111-104, indicating that the Grizzlies were only three points away from an upset.
On May 8th, at the Tuhang Stadium in Charlotte, Zhang Yang and Yao Ming stepped onto the sa court once more, marking the start of Season 2 of the Chinese Derby playoffs!
