Ning Xuan gave her a glance and spat out two words, "Intuition."
Yuan Yurong rolled her eyes at him. I'll believe you my ass!
"Let's go."
Ning Xuan didn't explain, and neither did Yun Wangshu or the other two won ask. They simply did as he said, confident that he would never harm them.
Behind them, Yuan Yurong looked on with an envious expression. Then, a smile blossod on her face as she quickly followed. The others did the sa. Even the experts from Su Yue Zhuai broke precedent and appeared behind Yuan Yurong.
Only a few people hung back, looking conflicted. They were from the Martial God Temple. They didn't want to delve into the enmity between Ning Xuan and Ning Yang; they only knew it was a fight to the death. Furthermore, Ning Xuan had long shown disrespect toward their Martial God Temple, so they were reluctant to follow his lead now.
However, the scene from just monts ago still left them with lingering fear. Despite their reluctance, they followed closely at the rear. At the sa ti, they kept a vigilant eye on Ning Xuan. This was a matter of pride. They were from the Martial God Temple! On the Yuan Ling Continent, the Martial God Temple was the supre authority. How could they stand to be outshone by a re youth? What would beco of their reputation?!
Before this, the clan heads of the great families had all started to look at Ning Xuan with newfound respect. This young man really has a few tricks up his sleeve! This secret passage is treacherous. It seems we need to pay close attention to his movents!
The sudden, inexplicable annihilation of two people had served as a stark warning to them all. However, none of them had any intention of backing down. The First-Generation Human Emperor is a legend of the Yuan Ling Continent! The Human Emperor Scripture is a treasure of the Human Race! If we could obtain it, we would reign supre over all living beings! What's more, aside from the Human Emperor Scripture, the First-Generation Human Emperor possessed countless powerful martial skills and secret techniques! Obtaining any one of them would be a massive opportunity!
The group continued forward, the atmosphere growing extrely tense.
Suddenly, soone in the middle of the group looked around in confusion. "Second Brother? Second Brother, where did you go?"
Everyone halted abruptly, turning their gaze toward him.
"My second brother is gone!" the man cried out, his face turning pale. "He was right beside just a mont ago! We were even communicating via voice transmission, and then he just... went silent."
The others instantly felt their nerves tighten. For a living person—a King Realm Martial Artist, no less—to vanish without a trace from the middle of the group was terrifying. Almost imdiately, everyone's eyes swiveled in unison toward Ning Xuan. They didn't know what had happened and hoped to get answers from him.
Ning Xuan looked genuinely surprised. "Why are you all looking at ? I'm not a god."
His words had barely faded when the man confronted him, his face contorted with displeasure. "How could you not know?! You noticed the danger last ti when none of the rest of us did! Why didn't you warn us this ti?!"
Before Ning Xuan or his companions could speak, Yuan Yurong cut in sharply. "Are you out of your mind?! Let's say for a mont we knew what happened—which we don't—what obligation do we have to warn you? Don't take kindness for granted!"
Though her face was frosty, she was inwardly ecstatic. Was this man sent by the heavens to give an assist? And here I was, worried I wouldn't get a chance to prove myself to Ning Xuan!
The others nodded, silently agreeing with her. Si Lanyi and Yun Wangshu, however, both raised an eyebrow. They were particularly annoyed by Yuan Yurong's use of the word "we." In fact, Si Lanyi even shot Ning Xuan a fierce glare. A mont later, however, her face was wreathed in smiles again.
Ning Xuan was completely baffled. If he hadn't confird that there was nothing unusual in their surroundings, he might have suspected Si Lanyi had fallen into so kind of trap.
"Heh, kindness?" the man sneered back, proving he wasn't a fool. "The more people there are, the more competition there is. Who knows what he's really planning!"
Hearing this, so of the others paused, then unconsciously shuffled a little further away. That's right! We're all here for the First-Generation Human Emperor's treasures. If it were up to us, we'd wish for more people to die, not fewer. So why would Ning Xuan warn anyone? There's sothing fishy going on! That guy is definitely planning to use us as cannon fodder when things get most dangerous! That damned bastard! So young, yet so ruthless!
"Junior Brother, a lot of them are cursing you in their hearts," the child's voice suddenly chirped.
Several people's faces stiffened.
"It's fine. I can't hear them anyway," Ning Xuan said, waving his hand magnanimously, as if he couldn't be bothered with them. Hmm. I'll just settle all the scores at once later. Why tire myself out now?
"Let's go." Ning Xuan didn't even glance at the man, simply gesturing for the three won to follow him.
"Stop!" the man roared, enraged. "Give back my second brother! If you don't, you're not going anywhere—"
Before he could finish his threat, he was eliminated. The one who struck was not Ning Xuan. Nor was it Si Lanyi or Yun Wangshu.
It was Yuan Yurong.
This was sothing no one had expected. After the kill, Yuan Yurong dusted off her hands and smiled. "There. Now we're closer."
Finished, she turned to Ning Xuan, her smile growing even wider. "I didn't disturb you, did I?"
The experts from Su Yue Zhuai all covered their faces, wishing a chasm would open up and swallow them whole. You're our Saintess! The future leader of Su Yue Zhuai! Look at you now! Fawning over him like a common dog! If it were anyone else, it might be excusable. But this is Ning Xuan, a man who has a grudge with our Su Yue Zhuai! If word of you licking an enemy's boots like this got out, how could Su Yue Zhuai ever hold its head high in the Jianghu again?!
"Saintess, do you wish to lead our Su Yue Zhuai to eternal damnation?!" the old crone from before couldn't help but transmit, her voice filled with anguish.
Yuan Yurong transmitted her retort, "Granny, do you rember how Fan Xueyan died?"
The old crone fell silent. The forr Saintess was buried in Burial Sand City, and Ning Xuan was inextricably linked to her death!
"No one who opposes Ning Xuan ets a good end," Yuan Yurong's transmitted voice continued firmly. "I have no desire to beco the second Fan Xueyan!"
There was no reply. Instead, the old crone began conferring with the other experts from their sect.
Aside from the people of Su Yue Zhuai, everyone else was utterly astonished. They never imagined Yuan Yurong, the Saintess of Su Yue Zhuai, would act in such a manner. But with the fresh example of what happened to the last person who spoke up, no one dared to say a word.
Instead, so of them cast their gazes toward the contingent from the Martial God Temple. The faces of the Martial God Temple mbers turned green. Dammit! What are they looking at us for?!
At that mont, all they wanted was to beco invisible; they had no desire to stand out.
Seeing their evasive gazes, others began to scoff inwardly. Heh, so this is the Martial God Temple? Nothing special after all!
Ning Xuan alone has scared the experts of the Martial God Temple into silence! This is a miracle!
Damn it! Ning Xuan hasn't even done anything! How did things end up like this?!
So were utterly baffled. There were many powerful figures from the older generation in their group. Out in the world, a single call to arms from any of them would bring countless people to their knees. Yet here, Ning Xuan had unknowingly beco the one who called the shots.
Even the Saintess of Su Yue Zhuai, one of the three great powers, had beco his fawning sycophant.
