Chapter 471: Pillow

The woman had returned to take revenge on the dical staff who took advantage of her. This sounded reasonable.

“What happened after that?” Jiang Cheng asked. He didn’t think the ghost would give up after scaring a nurse.

Blind Zheng glanced at Jiang Cheng and continued, “After that incident, the psychiatric departnt shut down. The doctor who was responsible for the woman in Room 624 left the hospital. The official statent was that he had fled overseas to avoid embezzlent charges. However, it sounded like even Blind Zheng didn’t believe that. The reality was probably that the hospital was worried about reputation damage and removed anyone who knew the truth.

Blind Zheng leaned down and whispered conspiratorily, “However, that wasn’t the end. Since then, many strange rumours have floated around the hospital. So night staff reported hearing footsteps, even though no one was there. The faucets in the bathrooms would turn on by themselves.

“And the elevators.” Blind Zheng beca agitated. He swallowed the water and continued, “When you take the elevator at night, it might stop at the sixth floor for no reason… And the sixth floor was where the original departnt was.” Blind Zheng stressed. “However, when the elevator opened, no one was there. Then, things would get weird. The elevator doors kept opening and closing. The doors would open before they could fully close. This kept repeating, like…” Blind Zheng’s lips trembled, “The elevator was waiting for soone.

“The nurse at the ti was scared. Based on what she could recall, she heard the door opening. Then, a rapid flurry of high heels. It ca from that corridor!”

Cao Yang broke out in cold sweat. Clearly, the thing that ca out was the ghost. The woman had returned as a ghost.

“The nurse was so scared that she ran out of the elevator and scread for help. In the end, even the hospital managent was notified.”

Jiang Cheng was silent before asking, “Where is the nurse now?” Based on what Blind Zheng said, the nurse didn’t die, or else she wouldn’t be able to tell the story. If they could interview the nurse in person, they might get more clues.

However, Blind Zheng shook his head and sighed. “She also left. I heard she was moved to another hospital.”

Cao Yang pressed, “She has never returned?!”

“No.”

Cao Yang’s disappointnt was evident, as this line of enquiry had been wasted.

“After that, the hospital sealed up the sixth-floor corridor and locked all the rooms. During special dates, they would arrange people to go there to burn paper money.” Blind Zheng explained, “But they haven’t done that for a while already.”

Paper money…

Jiang Cheng’s eyes shone. He rembered that Zhao Ru had told him that soone was burning paper money in the sixth-floor corridor during the Hungry Ghost Festival.

“Do you know who specifically was involved?” Jiang Cheng took a sip of the alcohol and asked naturally.

“This…” Blind Zheng scratched his head. He didn’t feel it earlier, but suddenly his head was dazed from the alcohol. “I went there before with Master Zhao and the security guard back then, Xiao Lee…” Blind Zheng smacked his head and added, “I think Qi Luo has been there several tis too!” Blind Zheng shook his head to clear his mind. “Qi Luo is Director Qi. He was an intern back then. I’m used to calling him by his other na. Don’t tell anyone that!” It seed like Blind Zheng was scared of Director Qi. After all, the man could chase him out of the hospital with an order.

“Did Director Qi know the woman?” Jiang Cheng frowned.

“I don’t think so.” Blind Zheng said, “He’s not from the psychiatry departnt, but his office was on the sixth floor… No, seventh floor. It has been so long. I can’t rember anymore.” Then, he seed to rember sothing and added, “Right. Not long after that, the hospital invited a monk over.

“The monk walked around the sixth floor, but he refused to enter Room 624. I didn’t know what happened after that. A few days later, the hospital gave everyone a pillow, rice and oil. Apparently, the pillows can help one sleep better at night. However, soone accidentally found a pouch inside the pillow.” Blind Zheng laughed. The hospital probably did this out of a guilty conscience. It was just a hoax.

However, Jiang Cheng was intrigued. “Do you still have the pillow?”

Blind Zheng thought about it. “I think so. I’ll go look.” Then, he swayed out of the room. The room was isolated and dark. So, when the weather was nice, he would rest in the room next door. Therefore, he left the pillow there.

After so rummaging, Blind Zheng returned with a pillow without a pillowcase. The pillow was probably stuffed with beans. It rustled as Blind Zheng shook it.

“This is it.” There was an opening on the pillow. Blind Zheng held a lotus-coloured pouch. It looked cute.

As he took it, Jiang Cheng thought it felt very light, as if there was nothing inside. However, when he pinched it, he realised there was sothing inside and it was very soft. It didn’t feel like paper. It felt more like fabric.

Jiang Cheng didn’t say anything. He sat back down and continued chatting and drinking with Blind Zheng.

Cao Yang didn’t say anything and listened to the conversation.

Soon, after Cao Yang shared a look with Jiang Cheng, the forr stood up and held his stomach. He said, embarrassed, “Where is the toilet?”

“Go out… turn right.” Blind Zheng mumbled. “Keep walking straight to the corner.”

Cao Yang left.

As he closed the door, he straightened his back and returned to normal. He was fine. He needed to leave to check the next-door room.

When he traded looks with Jiang Cheng, Cao Yang realised Jiang Cheng shared his thoughts. They didn’t trust Blind Zheng.

The fake nurse, Director Qi…

No one at the hospital was trustworthy.
