Chapter 443: Missing
After breakfast, Jiang Cheng naturally started his work. Based on his previous arrangent, he was going to visit a client. She was a beautiful woman who requested a house visit. Jiang Cheng didn’t reject her because it was his job as an angel to save the world.
“Are you going out?” Standing before the cupboard with the patient’s files, Lin Wan ‘Er turned to Jiang Cheng. She had a deep-blue file that was marked.
“Hmm.” Jiang Cheng answered. “You’ve t her before. She’s Madam Ma.”
“Didn’t she get married last month?” Lin Wan ‘Er asked.
“I think… so.”
“Don’t go. Join
later.” Lin Wan ‘Er closed the file and put it back.
Jiang Cheng moved his eyes away to look at the woman. “That’s not a good idea. I’ve set up this appointnt a long ti ago.” Despite that, he still asked, “Do you need help on your side?”
“I have an important client. I haven’t t him for a long ti already. I heard that he had an issue at ho.” Lin Wan ‘Er sighed. “I quite miss him, so I plan to visit him at his ho.”
Hearing that, Jiang Cheng had a bad feeling. “What is that client’s na?”
Lin Wan ‘Er raised her brow. “Nan Huaili.”
The na was very familiar. Jiang Cheng frowned as he scanned his brain. He was certain that he knew that na, but he couldn’t recall who she was.
“He has a daughter.” Lin Wan ‘Er revealed. “Called Nan Jing.”
Nan Jiang… It matched! Jiang Cheng was instantly reminded of the shy girl. She was the one who enabled Jiang Cheng to take the commission with the bar. The money was in Fatty’s pocket. The girl was the perfect daughter in people’s eyes, but Jiang Cheng knew the sacrifice she had made for it. Her mother forced her to do it. The client was Nan Jing’s father…
Jiang Cheng didn’t know why, but he agreed to accompany Lin Wan ‘Er to visit the Nan Family to see what was going on. After getting into the race car, Lin Wan ‘Er winked at Jiang Cheng. “Actually, I can go on my own.”
“Just drive.”
The Nan Family was considered rich in Rong City. Their house was situated at the very expensive Star Moon Bay. It was where the bungalows were. After registering with the security, Lin Wan ‘Er was let into the neighbourhood. Soon, the car was parked in an empty yard. Soone who dressed like a butler walked out. He said the owner was already waiting for them.
Seeing the strange expression on the butler’s face, Jiang Cheng realised things were not as simple as he thought. They walked through a Japanese garden and entered the bungalow. The living room had a lot of sun, as it was surrounded by huge windows. A woman sat on the lavish couch. The woman had great skin care. However, she looked tired. She had no makeup. When she heard the butler, she realised she had company.
“Mrs. Nan.” Lin Wan ‘Er nodded. When she saw Lin Wan ‘Er, Mrs. Nan’s eyes lit up. “Miss Lin, please, sit down.” The woman’s attitude was different from before. Clearly, sothing had befell their family.
Once they sat down, Mrs. Nan’s eyes reddened. “Miss Lin, I reached out to you because I ran out of options. Everyone said you have a lot of connections. You have to help .”
“Mr. Nan is also my friend. If I can help, I’ll be glad to.” Lin Wan ‘Er offered. “Please tell
what is going on.”
“Okay.” Mrs. Nan nodded appreciatively. She pursed her lips, as if fearful of the events she was going to describe. She looked up and said, “Huaili… is missing.”
Hearing that, Jiang Cheng’s bad feeling intensified. However, to his confusion, Lin Wan ‘Er didn’t look surprised. It looked like… she had figured this out from soone else. This visit was just a formality. She knew that Nan Huaili was missing.
“Kidnapping?” Lin Wan ‘Er asked.
“That was what we thought, but we haven’t received any ransom calls. And Huaili… He didn’t go missing outside. He went missing at his office.” When she said these things, Mrs. Nan frowned with consternation. She had no idea what had happened. She couldn’t even tell if her husband was still alive.
“Don’t worry.” Jiang Cheng comforted her. “Slow down. Give us more details.”
Mrs. Nan picked up the glass of water on the marble table and took a sip to calm down. “It was the night three days ago… Around 8 pm. Huaili ssaged
that he would not co back ho. He just got a project and was busy assigning the workload. I knew he would work overnight, so I told him to look after himself. He was not young anymore.
“Huaili has always been a workaholic. I’m used to it. But…” At this point, Mrs. Nan started to cry. “But his secretary called
around 10 am the next morning. She told
that Huaili was gone. They couldn’t find him. However, his phone, proposal contract and coat were all in the office. The person was gone.” Mrs. Nan beca agitated. She cried. “How is that possible? Due to his work, Huaili always carries his phone with him. Why would he leave… without saying anything?”
“When did people realise he was going?” Lin Wan ‘Er asked. “The precise ti.”
“9 am. Huaili had a eting with all the departnt heads at 9 am.” Then, Mrs. Nan corrected herself. “No. It was not that. It was earlier. The secretary would always remind him before any etings. It should be… 8 sothing.”
“When was the last ti people saw your husband?” Jiang Cheng queried.
“11 pm. The coffee machine in his office broke down. He hasn’t fixed it. He left his office at 11 pm to go to the breakroom to brew so coffee. Then, he went back.”
“Do you an he went back to his office?”
“Yes.”
“Who saw him?”
“No one did.” Mrs. Nan explained. “It was the cara in the corridor. We saw him when we checked the surveillance footage.”
