Chapter 288: Poem
Then, Jiang Cheng turned to Xia ng. A few seconds later, he suddenly said, “Help ?”
Xia ng scoffed. Just as she was ready to blow him off with snide comnts like, ‘Why should I?’, she sensed Fatty’s cold eyes on her. Therefore, she swallowed her words, pressed her lips and uttered unwillingly, “What do you want?”
…
Footsteps approached. Qin Jian, who was seated by the table, stood up warily. You Qi sat up in bed as well. The window was left slightly open. An Xuan saw that soone was coming their way through the gap in the window. The person was running like there was sothing urgent. It was Chen Xiaong.
An Xuan narrowed his eyes and whispered, “Don’t let her co in.”
Qin Jian was the first to move to the door. Before she knocked on the door, he blocked her outside. You Qi moved to follow. Lastly, it was the slow An Xuan.
“Miss Chen,” Qin Jian still looked like an ancient scholar. He asked sincerely, “Can we help you?”
“Have you found anything weird in your room?” Xia ng spoke quickly with beads of sweat on her forehead.
Qin Jian acted curious, “What do you an?”
“A painting.”
“We’ve encountered nothing like that,” You Qi replied confidently. However, everyone blocked the door to prevent Xia ng from entering their room.
“The painting appeared out of thin air. It might contain clues.” Xia ng continued, “Do you want to co to take a look?”
An Xuan smiled, “Maybe later.” He narrowed his eyes. “We are still discussing the clues. We have almost reached a conclusion.”
“Okay.” Xia ng sighed. She didn’t press. “The painting is that of a woman. She is dancing in a costu. The costu is similar to the one Tang Shirou wore.”
You Qi’s eyes shook. Then, he said with concern, “Then, you better be careful.”
“Oh, right.” Xia ng suddenly added, “The painting ca with a poem.”
“Poem?” Qin Jian’s face changed. However, he quickly corrected himself. He asked in an even tone, “What poem? Is this from this era or…”
Xia ng shook her head, “I don’t know. I suspect it might be a clue.”
“Oh?” An Xuan stared at her. “Why don’t you tell us?”
“San Geng drum beats. Boat sails on the lake. Mourning clothes walk at night. Golden fortune in silver frost.” Xia ng took an inconspicuous glance at Qin Jian’s costu. Then, she quickly looked away.
Qin Jian’s face dropped. Then, he glanced at Xia ng with open mockery. “Mourning clothes…” He lowered his head to look at his black costu. Then, he looked up with an exaggerated expression, “Miss Chen… are you talking about ?” Qin Jian narrowed his eyes and scoffed internally. These people treated him as a newbie, and that would be their grave mistake. They were being so obvious with their tricks.
They clearly also felt the painting was strange. They wanted to trick him to get over them and get him to reveal so weaknesses so he’d be their scapegoat. Qin Jian knew that this was a trick that a bastard called Hao Shuai ca up with. He was not that old, but he was already so vicious. Knowing that he would see through their tricks and not be drawn by the painting, they ca up with a ‘poem’ that was highly targeted at him to lure him in. ‘Aren’t he afraid of karma?’
Just as Qin Jian thought Chen Xiaong would try to argue further, she turned and left. After Chen Xiaong fully disappeared, Qin Jian started to have a strange feeling in his heart.
He closed the door and it was instantly followed by a series of dull knockings. Qin Jian suddenly had a bad feeling in his heart.
An Xuan opened the door. The middle-aged woman stood outside with her listless face. She began, “To thank the Dafus, Young Master invites everyone to admire the lake with a boat ride.” She paused before adding, “At San Geng.”
Qin Jian’s face instantly drained of blood.
…
“Doctor,” Fatty leaned over to whisper, “Do you think Qin Jian will fall for it?” Jiang Cheng, who ca up with the plan, was extrely calm as he sipped the tea. Fatty was extrely anxious.
“Don’t know,” Jiang Cheng said, “But you can ask her.” Fatty followed the direction of Jiang Cheng’s finger and saw Xia ng sitting in bed. Xia ng huffed coolly. Fatty felt a lot better.
Jiang Cheng’s plan could have tricked even Xia ng. Then again, not many people could compare to the Doctor when it ca to coming up with vicious plans. Based on the clues, they knew that Young Master Huang had another plan that night. Therefore, the Doctor waited on the path that the middle-aged woman had to pass through to reach them. Then, he intercepted her while Xia ng took the stage to perform. She went to An Xuan’s room to inform them about the news, revealing to them titbits revealed by the clues, especially things like San Geng and the boat.
Then, she dropped the hints that the Doctor had modified.
Jiang Cheng knew that Qin Jian wouldn’t take the bait. He was not that dumb. However, he only needed to bury the seed of suspicion. After that, Xia ng left to give the stage to the middle-aged woman to help verify the hints given by Xia ng.
After all, a boat hadn’t been featured in the mission so far. Such accuracy ant that Qin Jian had to believe Xia ng’s hints to a certain degree.
“Doctor,” Fatty licked his lips. “I gave this another thought. It feels like sothing is not right…” He paused, “It’s not that foolproof. Will Qin Jian really fall for it?”
“There is no foolproof plan in this world.” Jiang Cheng shrugged, “Don’t worry too much. Have you considered this?” He turned to Fatty, “Who is currently the most dangerous person on this mission?”
Fatty answered instantly, “Of course, it’s you, Doctor! The mission has even given you a painting to prove that!”
“Tsk!” Jiang Cheng was not satisfied with that.
