A wave of crushing power rolled through the city, obliterating a few of the nearby ruins and even pushing the veliscera back.
When the dust cleared, Lucian and the rest were unhard.
Talia watched the unfolding fight in confusion.
" How are we supposed to even believe this guy is an initiate like the rest of us? This doesn’t even make any sense."
Morgan’s inexplicable strength far surpassed anything she’d ever seen displayed by an initiate. Even without using Umbralis, he was going toe to toe with spectral beasts that even novices would have trouble with.
"This is insane..." she murmured, her eyes narrowing slightly.
When the dust and laughter died down, Morgan stood with the Blood Reaper blades drawn at his side, staring at the agitated veliscera in amusent.
The flas in his eyes burned even brighter, like beacons in the darkness.
His voice turned deeper, taking on a chilling undertone that surprised and froze even his allies in place.
"My, my... You lot certainly never learn."
The flas shrouding the Blood Reaper blades grew, forming an outer glowing shell around the blades.
Lucian stared at him in visible shock
"Is this even still Morgan? "
The power radiating from the scion was simply staggering; it almost felt like a maestro was standing in front of it.
"Did the rest of you hear that, or is it just ?"Talia whispered, frowning slightly.
The veliscera snarled, its eyes darting away from Morgan, its gaze shifting to the youths behind him.
Morgan/Sarenus smirked at the blatant greed in its eyes.
" You poor wretch...how long has it been since you last fed..."
He brandished his blades in a reverse grip, falling into a completely different battle stance.
" Co! If you’re so eager to die, then I’ll have to fulfill your wish."
A wide, dangerous smile appeared on Morgan’s face, his eyes gleaming with murderous glee.
" I’ll see to it that you burn, just like the rest of your kin."
The veliscera sneered at the taunt, growing even taller.
Its reptilian eyes took on a milky colour, the dark catlike irises turning a pale shade of silver.
The veliscera lunged forward with a long ear, ear-splitting screech.
"For what you’ve done, I’ll rip out your guts for fun and devour your soul until there’s nothing! Not a trace of you will be left.
Morgan/Sarenus chuckles, his eyes gleaming in the pale light of the twin moons.
" I don’t suppose you’re going to do that by running that mouth of yours unless you plan to talk to death first, of course..."
In the next instant, the two clashed in a cacophony of violence.
Sarenus swung the blades with expert ease, flawlessly countering and parrying the Veliscera’s attacks.
The veliscera fought like a crazed beast, lashing out with its fangs and gleaming claws in an elusive flurry of blows.
Striking away a clawed hand, Sarenus closed in, reaching the Veliscera’s claws’ range.
The creature was much taller and larger than Morgan, towering over him by several feet.
This gave it a much wider range, making every one of its attacks lethal.
Morgan/Sarenus weaved around it in a bizarre dance, parrying and countering in the sa breath.
The Lord of the drayghar’s combat abilities were a strange combination of human and beast-like movents.
At the most awkward of tis, he’d switch to all fours, sheathing the blades and lashing out at the elusive veliscera with the brilliant flas.
"How is a human being even supposed to move like that?" Lucian whispered.
For Lucian, it was like looking at a completely different person.
Sarenus smiled wildly, the white flas in his eyes burning with furious light.
"I think it’s ti to end this farce."
A split second later, the boy and the veliscera disappeared into the fog.
Flashes of light and sound reverberated through the fog, the only indicator that the fight was still going on.
From ti to ti, a pillar of flas erupts, soaring into the skyBlood-curdlingng screeches and wails emanate from within the fog.
" We can’t stay here much longer," Emily murmured.
Turning to Lucian and Talia, she spoke, her green eyes gleaming with a determined light.
" We need to leave. I think we’re slowing him down."
After a few monts, Morgan/Sarenus stepped out for,g cred i silver ichor.
He sighed, grinning slightly.
" You lot are definitely going to have to do much better than this..."
A much larger veliscera stepped forward with a spiteful snarl.
"Monsssster... I know you...I’ve heard of you..."
The leader of the veliscera hissed, stepping back warily.
Sarenus scoffed, drooping slightly.
"I wasn’t sure they’d be any that rembered in this ti..."
" And soon, you’ll be buried, for good."
The veliscera scread a high-pitched shriek rolling over the makeshift battlefield.
In the next second, a multitude of veliscera appeared, their translucent bodies shimring eerily in the thick fog.
Sarenus stared at the throng of veliscera contemptuously, coming to a stop.
Around him, scorching hot pyres of dhilte flas burned, clearing the fog.
Several veliscera lay on the ground around him in smoking heaps, their bodies slowly dissipating into nothingness.
"While I’m pleasantly flattered by the turn up, don’t you Don’t you think that this is a little unfair? After all, what was it one of you said, the one I killed earlier..."
Sarenus casually tapped his head with one of the blades.
"Let think...that I wasn’t qualified to fight you."
He scoffed, shaking his head slightly.
" For a daughter of the Lord of dreams, you sure do lie a lot..."
Lucian and the rest stared at Morgan in shock.
"Lord of dreams, what the hell ihe s talking about?"
While the House Thane was shrouded in obscurity, the knowledge that they possessed wasn’t sothing that the other Great Houses didn’t have access to.
On the contrary, all the Great Houses wielded a significant monopoly over particular knowledge.
Lucian’s eyes narrowed in suspicion.
" How does Morgan know all these things? It simply doesn’t make sense. The way he’s speaking, even his fighting style has changed completely."
In the next second, the Veliscera’s bodies rapidly morphed, their eyes turning to a silver colour.
" Lucian! You guys need to leave now."
Lucian stared at Morgan in bewildernt.
"The Veliscera are getting serious. You need to find a shelter with a sigil. I’ll handle this..."
Lucian nodded, getting to his feet.
"And what’s going to stop the rest of the veliscera from attacking us?" Talia asked somberly.
"From the looks of things, Morgan is confident he can stop that from happening."
Talia sighed, grabbing Amanda and lifting her in one fluid motion.
The air turned colder, a grim tension spreading through the air.
Lucian hastily hauled Cassius, lifting the bulkier Talented to his shoulder.
Lucian let out a weary sigh."
" Well, it’s all or nothing at this point."
In the next mont, the fog cleared in a thunderous explosion of light and sound.
