"Since it ca to this, I would rather have all of you sleep in a room right next to mine." Cleora stated, leading the group through the first floor of the main wing of her castle.
After the attack tonight, Cleora and Coco subdued the attackers on their own because for so reason, they were oddly inexperienced with handling their own weapons and just swung it around carelessly.
Coco believed that they were probably in dire need of money and affected the cash from Baroness.
Cleora, on the other hand, told her daughter that they were not part of the city of Archensheen. She was able to tell that they weren’t one of her people because she had morized, sohow, the nas of the people she’s ruling over.
Archensheen isn’t that big compared to the main city, but it has enough people for it to be considered a city.
So, to see those new faces waltzing near her daughter’s carriage when her own head butler wasn’t allowed to do so without her permission.. It was a dead giveaway.
"I can protect my diators." Coco whispered to her mother, walking as fast as her, so the two of them can have a little privacy. "And I can have Konoha stay in Jacques’ room to protect them. She’s cute, but she’s deadly."
Cleora giggled and bumped her daughter on the hip using her own. "I think the familiars given to us are strong so I wouldn’t dare think that yours are weak."
Coco blinked. "You have a familiar?"
Cleora blinked as well, confusing crossing her features. "Yes? You have seen him a couple of tis by now.. Are you not aware?"
"What?" Coco gasped, her feet freezing on their spots, but Cleora reached out and dragged her.
"It’s a sli." Cleora pointed out, her lips curling up in an amused smile. "I used it to heal you, to chase those who attacked us, and have him consu the dead bodies.. So, yes, you’ve t him a couple of tis now."
Coco was flabbergasted beyond words, her brain unable to process the information at the mont.
Cleora could only laugh at her daughter’s reaction and continued to lead them through the main wing to go to the west wing where her chamber is.
The others that are trailing behind them rely observe them, feeling completely thankful that the two strongest humans they know are protecting them without second thought and to think that one of them is a ruler— they just couldn’t help the feeling of being incredibly lucky.
All of them kept walking through the hall, the servants that passed by them stopping on their tracks to greet Cleora.
Cleora would simply shake them off with a small smile, a sight that caused the servants to tense and stare wide-eyed at their mistress.
The reason? Coco doesn’t know.
She wanted to ask her mother about it, but she had more important questions rather than irrelevant ones.
The walk to the west wing had the others huffing and puffing, but they couldn’t utter a single complaint because Cleora and Coco seed like they were having fun conversing with one another.
Unfortunately for the diators, Coco noticed the way they beco slower.
"Are we close, mama?" Coco asked, taking the words out from everyone’s mouth. "I’m tired. I want to take a rest, but this castle is ridiculously huge."
Cleora snorted. "That’s what I thought when I first arrived."
"Yes, but are we close?" Coco repeated her question with a raised eyebrow. "I’m pretty sure it’s not just who’s tired from all the walking."
"Yes, yes, we’re very close—" The older woman continued to drag Coco and dragged out her words, then she stopped in front of a large double door. "— and we’re here! I know, it’s bigger than you expected, but the inside is much bigger.’
The group simultaneously let out a noise of amazent, the large doors with beautiful wood designs catching their fascination.
"This is my room, but the rooms on my left and right are vacant, so I’ll be assigning all of you to the room you want." Cleora stated and faced the group. "Jacques, Renaldo, and Jonathan will be sharing a room together while my daughter will be sharing a room with her husbands. Sounds good?"
"Yes, mother." Zaque answered, nodding his head with a smile.
"Great, now choose one!" Cleora exclaid and let go of her daughter’s arm. "I’m certain that Coco would let all of you choose rather than her."
"Correct." Coco humd and reached out to open the door. "You guys choose a room while I check this one out."
"Don’t move my things around." Cleora called behind Coco before she disappeared behind the double doors, making her let out a sigh. "That child never changed.. Still wanting to check out the room I’m staying in."
The others didn’t comnt on that. It was very obvious that Coco and Cleora have a close relationship, so that statent didn’t shock them.
"Anyway!" Cleora turned back to the group before gesturing towards the doors on her left and right. "The rooms won’t choose themselves for you! How about we check them out first, then after that, you can go ahead and choose?"
"Honestly, I don’t mind which room the others choose." Alhai spoke up and crossed his arms. "As long as I can sleep beside my wife, then all is well."
"Sa here." The fourth husband agreed, raising a hand.
"I don’t mind either." Zaque stated, the corner of his lips curling up in a small smile. "I’ll leave it to Jacques instead. I’m sure Coco would go with whatever room is available."
"Are all of you serious?" Jacques grumbled, eyebrows furrowing.
"Yes." Heiren answered, making her sigh.
"Fine.." She mumbled and turned to Cleora. "We’ll just take the room on the left. There’s no need to check them out, mother."
Cleora humd. "I’ll have my butler prepare your rooms then."
"Thank you so much." Jacques smiled, genuinely grateful.
