Kairo approached them as he arrived, his deanor calm and composed.
He took in the scene, his eyes flickering between Alhai and Coco before tilting his head, curiosity dripping from his gaze.
He asked, his tone gentle and casual, "Is everything settled now? Have you two sorted things out?"
Coco gave Kairo a reassuring smile and was about to respond, but Alhai interjected, his words cutting through the air, causing Coco’s face to beco red in an instant.
"Yeah, by kissing." The silver haired diator stated, his tone casual as he threw a smirk in Kairo’s direction.
His response had the expected effect of making Coco even more flustered, her cheeks turning a deeper shade of red as she fidgeted awkwardly next to him.
Kairo couldn’t help grimacing, his expression morphing into annoyance and resignation.
He rolled his eyes slightly and replied to Alhai, his voice tinged with irritation. "Yes, I know. I saw it, too. There was no need to repeat it."
He redirected his attention to Coco, attempting to ignore Alhai’s smartass comnt, as he added monotonously. "And I was talking to Coco, not you."
Coco felt a pang of worry as she wondered if Alhai would beco upset at Kairo’s remark, but to her relief, he rely chuckled and shook his head, lightheartedly responding.
He told them. "Understood. I’m heading back inside to grab my book. You have a few minutes to talk. Just don’t waste the ti, okay?"
With that, Alhai turned away and strolled back towards the house, leaving Coco and Kairo with a mont of privacy to speak, making Coco let out a sigh of relief.
However, she couldn’t help, but express her confusion and irritation, her words laced with annoyance.
"I already told him it wasn’t like that." She muttered under her breath, her voice showing her growing frustration. "What’s his problem, seriously? I just told him that I wouldn’t take anyone else."
She crossed her arms, her gaze flickering towards the direction where Alhai had walked away.
Kairo’s expression softened, his features relaxing as he observed Coco’s expression— he had a fair understanding that Coco held affection for her husbands, but the way she was reacting now was more intense than he had anticipated.
A pang of pain tugged at his heart, empathy and jealousy swirling within him as he witnessed her protectiveness and concern for Alhai.
Understanding and feeling bitter, he said quietly. "He’s probably just jealous.."
Coco’s attention was abruptly diverted back to Kairo, snapping her gaze towards him, a curious expression on her face. "Did you say sothing?"
Kairo shook his head, quickly dismissing his previous words.
"Nevermind that." He replied, his tone casual. "I ca to find you because there’s sothing important I need to discuss with you."
Coco smiled and gestured towards the seats nearby. "Alright, let’s settle down and get comfortable."
She led the way, taking a seat in one of the seats in the gazebo, waited for Kairo to do the sa, and once they were both seated, she turned her gaze to him, her expression expectant and ready to listen.
Kairo exhaled deeply, his chest rising and falling as he prepared to speak.
He reached into the sleeve of his clothing, pulling out an object before tossing it in Coco’s direction, the item sailing through the air towards her.
Coco instinctively caught the item, which prompted Kairo to start speaking, his tone tinged with wariness and anxiety. "I received this while I was at work.. Take a look at it."
Coco’s gaze shifted on the envelope in her hand, her heart skipping a beat as her eyes fell upon the na written on it.
Hughes.
A wave of shock washed over her, her breath catching in her throat as a cold shiver of fear ran down her spine. The na alone held a certain weight, a sense of foreboding that filled her with dread.
She swallowed hard, her heart pounding in her chest, and slowly opened the envelope, then Kairo’s gaze dropped to the table, his voice breaking the uncomfortable silence.
""It’s pretty clear, I suppose.." He continued, his tone somber. "That envelope contains a letter written by Baroness Hughes— your mother."
He kept his gaze averted, his expression unreadable as he waited for Coco’s reaction.
He knew the ntion of her mother would likely rouse strong emotions within her so he braced himself for whatever she might say next, his hands curling fists.
Coco flipped the envelope and tried to open it, but she beca startled when she saw that it wasn’t open yet. "Wait.."
She turned to Kairo, her voice tinged with bewildernt. "You haven’t read this yet?"
She held the envelope tightly in her hands, her eyes flickering to him with a puzzled look. "Why would you give it to without even opening it yourself? Did you already know what’s inside?"
Kairo shook his head, making Coco blink.
"No." He replied, his gaze flickering to the envelope in her hand to her eyes. "I haven’t read it yet. I gave it to you because I wanted to lay myself bare before you, to show you that I trust you completely."
"What are you.."
"Just like what my young master wanted." He quickly added as he held her gaze, completely placing his trust entirely in her hands.
Coco held Kairo’s gaze for a mont before nodding her head in acknowledgnt.
"Thank you for trusting ." She said softly, her tone tinged with gratitude. "But since this letter arrived at your workplace, perhaps it would be better for you to change your workplace."
Her expression darkened, her concern for his safety written across her features. "For your safety, it might be best if you work sowhere else."
Kairo pursed his lips, silently acknowledging the truth of her words because he knew that she was right, that the situation posed a potential danger to him.
He let out a weary sigh. "Yeah, you’ve got a point, but I don’t know where I should be working next.."
