"Man.. The previous Coco Hughes’ mother sure is sothing." Coco mumbled, walking to the direction of Jonathan’s house.
"I can’t believe that man was also sent by your mother! Just what does she want with you?" Lala asked, her eyebrows furrowed in worry as she flew beside Coco’s head.
"Beats ." Coco answered with a shrug of her shoulders, not caring if the people who she passed by turned their heads and looked at her as if she had grown several heads— she just can’t bring herself to care at the mont.
"Baroness Hughes must have caught a rumor about sowhere and decided to see if I changed for the better or sothing." Coco quickly added to her previous dismissal.
"But just because she sent Rey, Kairo, and Drishti to check up on doesn’t an that she wants back to the family, and I would rather die again than have another mother." Coco stated, her shoulders growing a little stiff.
The face of her mother’s smiling face and soothing voice crossed her mind, the thought of Cleora’s loving smile making her clench her hand into a tight fist.
"No one can replace my mother." Coco finished the thought with her statent and shook her head.
"Anyway, even if that woman sent three people to spy on or sothing, it’s not like I will be able to do sothing about it. I’m just a village woman who doesn’t know shit on how this world works." Coco humd out, smiling softly at Lala.
The garden fairy’s worry and stress was clear as day ever since Coco left the shop.
Lala may have been quiet the whole ti she was talking to Drishti and Mrs. Tani, but that doesn’t an that she wasn’t eavesdropping on what they were talking about.
"But Coco Hughes died." Lala murmured and puffed out her cheeks, "That’s the only reason why I managed to put your soul in this world’s Coco. The body was already empty and just needed for sothing else to take over."
"And that sothing else was ." Coco humd, keeping her eyes ahead of her as she walked a little faster.
"Yes and no, the sothing else I was talking about was the magical beings of this world— if I rembered correctly, brother Kiki said sothing along the lines of ’monsters possessing a dead body’ when he first checked on this world." Lala said, tilting her head.
"I’m not too sure because I’m only in charge of the plants in every world Brother Kiki is in charge of." She added on while mumbling the words under her breath, "Which is why in the letter sister Lulu sent , she considered you as an abnormality."
Coco blinked and nodded her head in understanding, her mind recalling on the first day she woke up as Coco Hughes.
In that scroll, where the first notification first appeared, a line of an abnormality was spotted and another scroll proceeded to appear where Lulu gave her the first mission of all ti.
Coco scratched the back of her head.
"Does that an that Coco Hughes was supposed to be possessed with monsters? And hold on, can monsters possess humans?" The information seems to have just sink into her brain, making her turn to the fairy.
"Monsters can what— possess?" Coco stamred out, her eyes wide in surprise and disbelief.
Lala could only shrug her shoulders as a response because she doesn’t know if it was true or not, but there is a possibility that monsters can possess humans in this world.
"I’m not too sure." The garden fairy answered truthfully as she frowned, "That conversation happened.. Like.. Two hundred years ago? Five hundred years ago? I’m not sure. I’m sorry. I should have asked more about it."
Coco shook her head and let out a sigh. "It’s not your fault, it’s okay."
However, the thought of monsters possessing humans got stuck on Coco’s mind, the cogwheels in her brain kept turning as she felt her body grow rigid.
So far, the monsters she has encountered are poison tiger, tough crocodile, and flying pig.
From what she heard from Renaldo, there is another one that she has not encountered just yet because even if they were not as strong as the other three monsters, they are smarter than them.
Farming rabbits is what Renaldo called them.
They skin humans alive because that was how humans kill their own kind— skinning the humans alive may be their way of avenging those who have fallen victims.
Coco scratched the back of her head again, her eyebrows furrowing in worry.
Farming rabbits may be the one who has the ability to possess humans, but if they are not the one.. Then, there is a possibility that there are other monsters out there that she has not encountered yet.
Coco swallowed, her heart racing at the thought of discovering a new kind of monster—
"You’re here pretty early, Coco."
Her thoughts about new monsters were cut short when she heard a familiar voice.
She looked up from the ground, making her realize that she didn’t notice that she was looking down, and glanced at the person who called out to her.
"Jonathan." Coco said the diator’s na with a surprised yelp, her eyes shifting away from him for a quick mont to look around their surroundings to see where she was and saw that she was already at the scary part of the village.
She was quick to drag her gaze back to Jonathan and smiled. "I think I got here late. I was held back at the shop."
Jonathan may have noticed the way she scanned the surroundings, but did not bother comnting on it and instead, returned the smile.
"It’s fine. I was thinking of going to the shop myself so you wouldn’t have to go and pick up." Jonathan said with a quiet laugh accompanying his sentence, "I’m glad we didn’t miss each other."
", too." Coco laughed as well, "Shall we? To the inn?"
