"Alhai’s favorite book?" Heiren’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "What are you going to do?"
"I’m going to buy him his favorite book. Isn’t that obvious?" Coco stated, tilting her head to the side as she leaned her chin on her palm.
"Coco.." Zaque murmured as he stared at her with worry, "A book can cost a lot. I know that you want to make up with Alhai, but you don’t have to spend a lot of money on us—"
"No, no, no.." Heiren cut Zaque off for the nth ti that day and smiled mischievously to Coco with a malicious glint in his eyes, the previous timid looking diator nowhere to be found.
"Why should we tell you? What do we get from telling you sothing private about our friend? Would it be worth it to trade his trust to a asly book?" Heiren asked Coco, shooting questions after questions, his tone almost condescending.
It was a good thing that the garden fairy was focusing on her fair share of sandwiches, that Coco pinched out of her sandwich, and her little tea cup because if she wasn’t, she would have been fuming by now.
"Heiren." Zaque called out, an underlying warning in his tone.
"You have to tell because I heard that a particular bookstore in the next town will be having a discount sale." Coco said, lying through her teeth as she smiled to the diators, "I also heard that the asly book you called was the one Alhai might be most fond of in this world."
Heiren flinched, making Coco smile wider.
"Don’t you dare underestimate a bookworm, dear Heiren. They would go to unspeakable lengths to get their hands and their desired book, you know? I already experienced that." Coco humd out.
In her previous world, books such as novels, light novels, manga, etc. have always been her strongest desire to collect— her room is filled with romance novels, both vanilla and dark.
She recently added to her collection the ogaverse genre of boys love, but then, she died.
However, she was proving a point.
Bookworms? Don’t underestimate them. They might not be as fancy as other girls, so are fancy bookworms, but the most expensive thing they have are their books and don’t get her started with how much she treasures them!
More than her own life!
Which is why, seeing that Alhai’s quest revolves around books, it wouldn’t take even a toddler to know that he loves books more than anything else.
Sure, she can’t see any book placed sowhere in the living room, but it might be inside of his bedroom, right?
"Experienced that..? Are you kidding ?" Heiren asked, his hands balling into fists by his side, "You never picked up a single book the mont you married ! Don’t go around spouting lies because from the sound of it, they are impossible!"
"Hey now, I think you’re forgetting the fact that I’m not your wife." Coco blinked owlishly and frowned, "We have been going back and forth for this one, but you still don’t believe ? After all the things I’ve done for you?"
"Oh, now, you’re telling that you’re not my wife? Who are you then? So random person who happened to have the sa face as our wife? You’re still sticking to that story of yours?" Heiren hissed, his face slightly flushed with color due to how fuming he was.
"You know, what.. Why don’t you go ahead and go up to your room? You’re a little red in the face and you might faint if it gets worse." Coco suggested as she laughed nervously.
"Fine! Ask Alhai yourself and see if he would entertain all of your crap!" Heiren exclaid, turning his head away and huffing out before stomping his way towards the staircase to his bedroom.
Slam!
"Oooh.. Soone has anger issues.." Coco mumbled, her eyes glued to the staircase with a worried gaze before she turned back to Zaque, "Do you think I pushed his buttons too much? I an, I wasn’t lying, but I think he really won’t believe if I said more about ."
"I’m so sorry about the way they’re acting towards you." Zaque sighed, pulling the chair to the opposite side and taking a seat.
"Our wife abused them more than I am so I guess when you say that you’re not the Coco we know, they get hurt at the thought of their abuser forgetting everything she has done to them." Zaque murmured, massaging his temples.
"Don’t worry." He imdiately snapped his eyes open and stopped Coco before she could talk, "I already know that you’re not our wife, I believe you and I trust you."
"Aww, Zaque..!" Coco squealed, getting a fuzzy and warm feeling in her chest.
"I don’t know about Alhai and Quizen, but Heiren just needs a little more push to have him believe you. Alhai hasn’t been talking to since yesterday so I can’t really help you." Zaque pursed his lips and looked down, an apologetic look on his face.
"It’s okay! It’s okay! You’re helping plenty enough!" Coco assured him while waving her hand dismissively.
"No, I don’t." Zaque shook his head and sighed, "Regarding the question about Alhai’s favorite book, no one really knows because we don’t have enough money to buy him the book he wants, he might have been collecting so trashed looking ones, but that’s only because he loves to read."
Coco frowned, feeling sad for a fellow bookworm not being able to buy his desired book.
"That’s so sad.." Coco mumbled and sighed, "But I don’t know if he will talk to if I try to approach him, what if I fail this quest?"
Coco whispered the last sentence to herself, not wanting to let Zaque hear it.
"Maybe Quizen can help?" Zaque suggested.
"No, I’ll just deal with it myself." Coco politely refused Zaque’s suggestion.
"Coco.." Zaque frowned, watching as the woman walked out of the house and didn’t look back.
