Ultron sent out 300 robots, and the remaining 20 or so were its last strength. It originally wanted to sneak into the town and capture humans as a bargaining chip, but it was now intercepted.

Although this is the real world, Ultron is a program. It uses its self-protection program to conflict with Tony Stark's instructions and create loopholes, which ans that its self-protection program is powerful.
Now that it is completely inconsistent with Ultron's self-protection program, its actions show that death can protect itself. Ultron's careful design failed because Ultron is a program. It is traceable and can't get rid of a fixed basic pattern no matter what.
