No one was attacking yet, as new enemies kept showing up, and Alex knew they were waiting for more to co, probably in hopes of overpowering them by sheer quantity. It was clear to those who had started the attack that the quality of their attacks was not up to par, so they changed tactics to a numbers ga.

But Alex wouldn’t let them.

"We’re moving! Fight back if you have to, but we are prioritizing ditching them!" he barked, before dashing directly toward the enemy.

"I’ll buy you a few seconds. Run!" he added.

On instinct, the now twenty people before him launched more attacks at him, but their elent of surprise was gone.

Dodging the spells with ease, he made it to the first enemy, a man in dark tallic armour, who raised a shield in front of him as Alex shot his fist toward his stomach.

The man was fast enough in his reaction to block the blow, but his grin imdiately vanished, as the force of the blow transferred from the solid tal barrier into his arms, and then the rest of his body, before his body flew backward like a cannonball, pushing with him the people directly behind him.

Alex’s hand went numb from the impact, his brow furrowing.

’That’s magic equipnt. How did they get sothing like this so fast?’ he wondered.

Activating his mana vision, he realized all of them had at least one piece of mana-infused equipnt on them, and his face beca grave.

This would heavily affect the fight in their favour. Even with the gear from Jack’s magi-tech departnt, he doubted he would contend long against an army of similarly equipped n and won.

As he had thought, running was the best option.

Already, two attackers launched at him, one wielding two scimitars and the other a pair of daggers, their bloodlust clear as day.

They had no intention of strictly neutralizing him. They were attacking to kill.

Before he could react to defend himself, sothing flashed to his left and right, as two people clad entirely in black blocked the attacks with weapons of their own.

At the sa ti, Alex’s phone rang in his ear, and he answered directly.

"I was hoping they wouldn’t notice you and I could sneak you out, but you took so long to get off that mountain peak, they had ti to bring in a scout unit," Aoi’s voice rang in his ear, sounding clearly peeved.

Alex pushed into another man, rushing him and the two new people next to him, answering inside his head, thanking the tech that allowed him to fight and talk without wasting breath.

"We had no idea ti would suddenly skip forward a few days from the top of the mountain. Where the hell were you?" he asked, punching soone in the face, before kicking another in the legs hard enough to make him face-plant.

"It doesn’t matter right now. I have my lieutenant talking to Kary to guide her and the rest of the group away. I’ll coordinate with you and my two agents to get you out, but you need to break away now. Don’t fight."

Alex almost frowned at the order. He was trying to buy ti for his friends, and now Aoi was telling him to retreat.

"Why? These people are barely a problem to deal with right now," he complained.

"Because these are just pawns. The real enforcers aren’t here yet," she replied, sounding annoyed.

"All the more reason," he tried reasoning.

If he could hinder a few of them from running after them, it would help them to run away. At least, that was his train of thought.

"They’re on their way, you big dumbass!" she interrupted him. "You need to leave! Now!"

Alex wanted to argue with her that he was in no danger, but before the words could escape his mouth, a vision flashed before his eyes.

He saw his stomach bleeding, a gaping wound upon it, as soone stood before him with a massive glaive.

The vision ended as fast as it ca, and a shiver ran down his spine.

Jumping back on instinct alone, sothing flashed in front of him, where his abdon had been not even a second prior, and slashed through the air, connecting with one of the ninjas backing him up instead of him, bisecting the poor man before he could react.

There was no scream of pain or gasp of surprise, as life left their eyes almost instantly; the two pieces hitting the ground in quick succession.

Alex heard a tongue click a few paces away from him, as a person pulled out of the shadows of a half-blown building.

Alex looked at him, and at a glance, he could tell this person was not to be trifled with. His mana signature was barely perceptible, which would explain how he got so close without him noticing him, and managed to throw an attack that could have seriously injured him, had he not had that strange vision.

He assud it was one of his demons that had used their foresight powers to warn him, and even if the vision had been a little too realistic to his taste, the pain transpiring through images alone, Alex was still grateful.

"White wolf," the man addressed him. "You are trespassing on the soil of the Republic of China. Your cri would normally be t with imdiate deportation. But since you are awakened, the sentence is much greater. Your punishnt shall be doled out by . Prepare yourself."

Alex was about to reply with a snarky comnt and a threat of his own when Aoi shouted into his ear.

"Run! That is Cheng Weilong! He is China’s newest powerhouse!"

Alex wanted to comnt that he wasn’t afraid of soone who couldn’t have awakened sooner than him, but she added sothing that made him pause.

"He is said to rival you and even beat you in simulations they have run from the videos of you online. Alex, you can’t fight him. Just run!"

Alex frowned, but he wasn’t allowed ti to think of an answer.

Cheng Weilong took his long silence as him acquiescing that he was ready for punishnt, and decided it was ti to strike.

"Qù sǐ!"
