Chapter 550: Chapter 259 Abandoned Ship Figure
The landmines had been buried for a relatively short ti, certainly installed several decades after the Dead Sea Wreck had ford.
But who could it have been at that ti?
The previous Ark Chosen Ones who challenged the Dead Sea Wreck?
But they were all Spiritual Ability Users with either the Fifth Sense or Sixth Sense, and there should be no need for them to use landmines.
Or perhaps, they wanted to use the landmines to divert the enemy’s attention?
Or was it that, among the ships captured by the Dead Sea Wreck, there were still survivors?
Did they resist the flesh mutations in this dangerous area? Were landmines one of their thods?
As for Scavengers, Li Yelai dismissed the possibility. Located in the deep sea, the Dead Sea Wreck was unknown even to the authorities; Scavengers would not have the capability to co here.
“Jing Lin, do you have the ability to track traces?” Li Yelai asked in a low voice.
If he had that ability, tracking and investigation would be convenient.
Being detectives on the Spiritual Eyes Path, such abilities were typical. They could reconstruct incidents through traces.
“No, but I have the ability ‘Extre Detail’, which allows to observe subtle differences. The dust thickness on the ground is completely different from that on the landmines,” responded Jing Lin, whose left eye exposed under his facial armor was already sowhat dim, but he did not care and continued, “You may find it hard to notice, but in my eyes, this difference is starkly clear.”
“Just this alone is not enough to determine their identity, let’s keep moving forward. If there really are survivors, it would be good for us,” said Li Yelai.
“Indeed… The most recent fleet to lose contact was the Border Fleet from No.1 Border City. If there are survivors, it’s highly likely that they are from that fleet.”
“But it’s been too long, forty or fifty years. Even if it is them…” Li Yelai shook his head and sighed.
If it indeed was the Border Fleet, then they were Li Yelai’s comrades. But in such an environnt, without any reinforcents or logistical support, survivors would have had a hard ti holding out until now.
“Ti has indeed been too long, so we still need to be cautious. I’ll take the lead. My eyes can see more,” Jing Lin said as he spoke, and his left eye gradually began to recover. Holding a long spear, he walked ahead.
Li Yelai didn’t distance himself, following just a step behind Jing Lin, covering his flank.
The two quickly moved through the breach area silently, and they saw a flesh mutation that was moving about.
It was around two ters and forty centiters tall, with a body still close to human form, but its head was a giant lump of flesh, and inside the flesh, there was a large red-glowing eyeball.
It might have been a sentry of sorts, detached from the blood vessels on the ship’s body, patrolling back and forth in the vicinity.
Its patrol range wasn’t large, seemingly around ten ters or so, but within its area, there were a dozen or so ordinary flesh mutations.
The difficulty was quite high to avoid it and perform a stealth attack.
And once it was killed, it could possibly alarm the nearby flesh mutations.
“This is tricky,” Jing Lin murmured, “We’ll have to wait for it to move away from this group of mutated bodies before we prioritize killing it.”
“Yes, just to be safe, let’s both take action together,” responded Li Yelai.
“Alright, one in front and one behind, stab it to death!” The two gunn reached an agreent.
After observing the sentry mutation make a couple rounds, they locked onto its movent pattern and approached silently, lying in wait around the corner where it would pass.
To the left and right, they watched calmly as the sentry mutation drew near.
Li Yelai extended his finger again and gestured to Jing Lin. Having cooperated many tis before, they understood each other well.
At the mont the sentry drew close, Li Yelai’s second finger bent.
Both n were tensing their muscles, ready to launch a deadly assault.
However, just as Li Yelai was about to bend his last finger, the sentry less than four ters away from them suddenly shuddered.
At the sa ti, the complexion of the two n ready to strike changed, and they imdiately hid back around the corner.
Almost simultaneously, the lump of flesh on the sentry’s body opened up, and a dozen tentacles suddenly stabbed out, probing in all directions!
The closest one was less than twenty centiters from Li Yelai’s cheek!
This caused both n’s hearts to pound, fearing they had been discovered by the sentry.
But the sentry did not move, and a few seconds later, all of the tentacles retracted back into the lump of flesh.
The sentry resud patrolling.
This ti, without any hesitation, Li Yelai and Jing Lin sprang into action!
From left and right, their Spiritual Ability Equipnt swung out. Like two parts of a shearing blade colliding, they cleanly severed the head of the sentry!
Before the head hit the ground, Jing Lin impaled it with his spear. With a shake of the spear shaft, he shattered the eyeball and various tissues inside.
At the sa ti, Li Yelai danced with his long spear, thrusting it through the chest of the sentry mutation and twisting it with force!
Single-handed Eighteen Strokes·Reptile Turn!
The sharp edges of the double spear ears twisted, completely pulverizing its innards, including the heart!
Afterwards, the two gently laid down the head and body, trying not to make a sound.
Only after doing all this did the two breathe a sigh of relief.
“What was that just now? Did it detect us?” Jing Lin asked quietly.
“Possibly, but it could also have been its routine check,” Li Yelai exhaled slowly, “Fortunately, we could dodge it easily just now.”
“True, if it were faster, we would have been caught,” Jing Lin grumbled, “It’s so sneaky.”
The sentry’s sudden movent was unexpected. Fortunately, both n reacted quickly and were able to dodge safely.
