Lu Chenyu and the people inside the remaining cars were still wearing malicious smiles, utterly unaware that they had just provoked soone far more terrifying than the alien beast horde chasing them.

To their shock, the attacks they launched didn't even co close to landing.

An invisible force repelled them all.

Before they could react, the air seed to twist.

tal blades, earthen thorns, blazing fireballs, and crackling bolts of lightning—each at least three tis larger and more powerful than the abilities they had just unleashed—descended like divine punishnt.

"What?!"

"Dodge—quick, dodge!"

The smug expressions vanished instantly. Panic replaced arrogance as they swerved wildly, moving like bats fleeing from sudden light.

Nanzhi sniggered coldly.

The front tires of the cars in the first row exploded without warning.

Screeeech!

Unlike Nanzhi's group, who had prepared reinforced, run-flat tires long ago, these vehicles had no such protection. The mont their tires burst, control was lost completely. Cars skidded violently, smashing into buildings, light posts, and each other.

tal crumpled. Glass shattered.

Out of the ten cars, only three barely managed to avoid imdiate destruction. The remaining seven crashed badly, their drivers and passengers riddled with wounds—so screaming, so already unconscious.

The stench of fresh blood spread instantly.

Alien beasts that had been chasing from behind let out excited roars. They surged forward, prying open twisted car doors with brute force, dragging the injured survivors out like prey pulled from burrows.

"No—stay away! Stay away from !"

"Arghhh!"

"Save ! Soone save !"

"Lu Chenyu! Don't leave! Sir Lu—!"

"No! Co back! Please—ah—!"

Their desperate cries echoed through the night before being abruptly cut off.

Crunch.

Crunch.

The horrifying sound of bones being gnawed apart was unmistakable.

Lu Chenyu was one of the few who survived the initial crash.

He stared at the carnage unfolding behind him, his pupils shrinking. He had never expected the people in the black car and the bus to be this strong.

Inside the bus, Uncle Wang and the others turned pale. Even though they had long grown used to the sight of alien beasts, they still couldn't stomach watching living people being eaten alive. Several of them turned away instinctively.

Baoyin hurriedly covered the children's eyes, forcing them to look down.

Still, no one felt sympathy.

Those people had brought this upon themselves. If Nanzhi and her group weren't here, Uncle Wang and the others might be the ones screaming right now.

anwhile, Nanzhi and Lin Weihao clearly heard soone screaming a familiar na.

"Lu Chenyu—!"

Nanzhi's eyes darkened.

She smiled, but there was no warmth in it.

Enemies really do et on a narrow road.

The scent of blood continued to spread, drawing even more alien beasts. Within Nanzhi's ntal detection range, a portion of the beasts that were originally rushing toward Longn Base abruptly changed direction.

She couldn't determine the exact number—their energy signatures were packed too tightly—but it was definitely more than hundreds.

Possibly thousands.

Enough to form a small-scale beast tide.

The communicator in Baoyin's hand vibrated.

She glanced down and imdiately answered the call.

"Okay, Sister Nan!"

Lu Chenyu and the survivors in the last two cars glanced anxiously at their rearview mirrors.

Behind them, hundreds of alien beasts surged forward. The corpses of the fallen ability users lasted less than a minute before being completely devoured. Unsatisfied, the beasts let out furious roars and accelerated, closing in on the remaining vehicles.

Facing imminent death, desperation overtook reason.

So survivors tried to gather their abilities again, hoping to fight back.

But Nanzhi and Weihao didn't even need to lift a finger.

Several alien beasts grew impatient and launched elental attacks of their own—fireballs, earth arrows, and razor-sharp wind cutters tearing through the air.

The two cars were too slow.

Screeeech!

Explosions rocked the street. Vehicles flipped or slamd sideways.

Monts later, screams rang out.

"Ah—!"

Lu Chenyu's heart lurched violently.

Out of ten cars… he was the only one left.

The alien beasts finished devouring the corpses behind him and surged forward once more, the distance shrinking rapidly.

If he didn't act now, he would die just like the rest.

His expression twisted. He rolled down the window, grabbed a grenade from his bag, and hurled it toward the black car ahead.

But the grenade never reached its target.

It was flung away mid-air by that sa invisible force.

The explosion detonated to the side.

If Lu Chenyu hadn't swerved instantly, his own car would have been blown apart.

What kind of power was this?!

He couldn't even see it!

Before he could finish processing the shock, a shadow flashed.

A figure leaped down from the roof of the black car and landed heavily on the trunk of Lu Chenyu's vehicle.

The black car and the bus suddenly changed direction, disappearing into a right-hand curve.

Lu Chenyu's face drained of color.

His eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost.

"Lu… Nanzhi?!"

She's not dead?!

Then everything Lan Fuyou said—was it all a lie?!

Nanzhi didn't care what he was thinking.

Every cell in her body scread with murderous intent.

"Lu Chenyu," she said calmly, her voice cold and steady, "long ti no see."

She flashed him a chilling smile and raised a fully loaded armalite, aiming it directly at his face.

Ratatatatata—

Gunfire erupted.

But to Nanzhi's surprise, the bullets barely left marks.

Lu Chenyu's skin rapidly changed texture. His face, neck, and arms were covered by a red, hardened exoskeleton—eerily similar to the mutant ants she had encountered before.

Her eyes narrowed.

The mont his transformation completed, thick black miasma-like energy leaked from his body.

It was identical.

The sa energy signature that once surrounded Bei Mingsi—the bone manipulator.

Are these connected…?

"Lu Nanzhi!" Lu Chenyu burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Don't think your little tricks can kill !"

After absorbing spars for two consecutive days, his transformation had stabilized. He could now maintain it longer—though the pain of reshaping his skin felt like his flesh was being torn apart layer by layer.

He expected fear.

Instead, Nanzhi looked at him like she was staring at a dung by the roadside.

"Damn," she said bluntly. "Why did you get uglier? You look like a red cockroach."

Lu Chenyu froze.

Then his face turned an even deeper crimson, rage boiling violently.

"Lu Nanzhi! You disrespectful bitch! I'll tear your mouth apart—!"

His words died abruptly.

The armalite in Nanzhi's hands was gone.

In its place was a belt—densely packed with grenades.

Her fingers slid calmly across them.

Lu Chenyu's pupils shrank.

She smiled.

"Let's do a little test," she said lightly.
