"RIBBIT!"
The mont the croak echoed through the street, a chill ran through everyone.
The sound was deep and heavy, like thunder rolling across water.
Lu Jian stared toward the entrance of the suburbs. His eyes widened when he saw a gigantic green frog blocking the entire road. Its body easily crushed one of the villas at the edge like paper.
Its size rivaled a ten-wheeler truck. Its skin was covered in slimy bumps, and its eyes bulged outward like two giant lanterns. Thick saliva dripped from the corner of its mouth, sizzling when it touched the protruding tal rods.
Damn it! Why is there a giant frog here?! Weren't there only supposed to be those small frogs?!
The frog moved.
Lu Jian froze.
Sh*t! If that monster noticed him, he would beco its next al without a doubt!
His mind spun wildly, filled with curses aid at that pig Lan Fuyou for abandoning him. It was his fault! He never should have listened to that pig!
Consud by fear, insecurity, and desperation, Lu Jian beca disoriented. His poison triggered ahead of ti.
He groaned in pain as bad mories surged into his mind.
No! This was that b*tch Lu Nanzhi's fault! It was her fault for hooking up with that Lin bastard! If she hadn't done that, Lan Fuyou wouldn't have gotten angry at him!
Damn Lu Nanzhi! It was always her fault! She always found ways to make him suffer losses!
Even back in middle school and college, all the good things went to her, while he was constantly compared by Grandfather and branded a useless failure! What was so great about her anyway?!
Lu Nanzhi! Lu Nanzhi! Why don't you just die and leave alone?!
He scread those words in his mind.
Hatred burned in his bloodshot eyes. Gritting his teeth, Lu Jian forced his injured, crippled legs to move and found a place to hide.
Fortunately, the bus attracted the giant frog's attention.
Lu Jian successfully escaped and hid behind a counter inside a ruined shop.
His breathing was ragged, his eyes bloodshot.
Earlier, when that lightning bolt shattered the roadblock, he had glimpsed a brown trench coat inside the bus.
Lu Nanzhi must be in there!
Thinking of the giant frog, his lips twisted into a malicious grin. He silently wished that monster would be Lu Nanzhi's end.
Lu Nanzhi. Only when you die will my life finally be peaceful!
He muttered under his breath.
A massive shadow leapt out from between the buildings and slamd onto the road.
The children scread.
"Monster!"
"Big Sister, I'm scared!"
"Stay put! Do not unbuckle your seatbelts!" Baoyin said firmly.
Despite their fear, the children remained obedient and nodded.
"How can that frog be so big? It's even bigger than our bus!" Feng Ran exclaid. "How do we even fight that?"
The uncle driving caught sight of the giant frog in the rearview mirror. If that thing caught up, the bus would be crushed into scrap tal, and they would all be turned into at paste. His throat tightened as he decisively stepped harder on the accelerator.
Uncle Wang trembled as well. If he had stubbornly insisted on staying earlier, death would have been their only outco.
"Daughter-in-law, it's a good thing we listened to Xiao Nan…" he murmured.
Yet even after leaving early, that monster still sensed them. The frog looked terrifyingly huge. How could they possibly kill it?
Uncle Wang's heart was filled with dread. They had already imposed so much burden on Xiao Nan and her companions.
Lowering his head, he pondered silently. After a mont, he sighed. If the worst ca to pass, he would step forward and volunteer to lure the monster away.
Oh heavens, my child was just born. Please help us.
Wang Ziqing hugged her baby tightly, fear clear in her eyes as she prayed. The baby sensed danger and let out cries.
Don't worry baby, Mommy is here. I won't let anything happen to you. She placed a kiss on its forehead soothing it cries and only did the baby stop crying.
"Boss Lin, how about Hei Qian and I lure it away?" Bingwen said quietly, joined by Hei Qian. Their voices were low enough that only the three of them could hear. "We can make small drones and attach bait to them."
Weihao's eyes darkened. He glanced at the sky.
If they failed to shake the giant toad off, they would be forced to fight at night.
He had seen the frog leap more than ten ters into the air earlier. That was clearly not its limit. Not to ntion it's tongue. A drone would not distract it for long.
"RIBBIT!"
The bus shuddered violently, nearly veering off course. Fortunately, the driver was experienced and managed to stabilize it.
Weihao looked down at the sleeping Nanzhi in his arms and clenched his fist.
"Take care of Zhi Zhi."
"Bingwen, Hei Qian, Feng Ran, you're in charge while I'm gone. We'll et at the next stop."
Baoyin and the others were stunned as Weihao leapt out through the bus window, rolled cleanly on the ground, and vanished into a narrow alley.
Is he insane?! Where is he going?!
Who jumps out of a moving bus?!
They tried to call Lin Weihao, but he did not answer. No one dared to raise their voice. The giant frog was still pursuing them, and any noise could draw its attention to Lin Weihao.
They only heard the roar of another engine before the giant frog suddenly changed direction and leapt away.
Everyone collectively guessed. That must to be Lin Weihao's doing!
After disappearing into the alley, Weihao imdiately pulled a motorcycle from his space and tied the corpse of an alien beast to the rear.
The motorcycle shot forward like an arrow, racing in the opposite direction.
However, the giant toad was far smarter than expected. It did not imdiately fall for the bait, sensing that there were more living als on the bus.
Weihao had a degree in rage-baiting. He had prepared a backup plan. He cut the rope, discarded the corpse, and replaced it with a black plastic bag from his space.
The giant toad halted and sniffed the air.
Its gaze shifted from the bus to Lin Weihao's back.
When it detected the scent of its froglets and eggs from the plastic bag, its fury exploded.
"RIBBIT!"
My children! So it was you! You were the one who took my eggs!
I'll kill you!
Weihao had originally planned to bring the specin back for research. He hadn't expected it to be useful in this way.
"RIBBIT!"
The rage in the croak shook the air itself. Even the glass windows of nearby buildings trembled.
