On their way, they encountered the sa guard who had sold them the special room last night. His face was swollen, with lumps and bruises scattered all over.

The red palm prints had yet to fade from his skin, and it was clear that they had co from a woman!

The mont the guard saw them, especially Nanzhi, a sharp pain shot through his face. He fled the scene in a hurry, as though he had seen a ghost.

Feng Ran and the others exchanged a suspicious glance.

"Sister-in-law, did you pay him a visit last night?"

"If I wanted to beat him up, I wouldn't do it so sneakily," Nanzhi replied. "Besides, I don't have that much free ti."

Indeed!

The others nodded in agreent.

Sister Nan/ Sister-in-law didn't care much about the place or the ti!

As Nanzhi pondered, she wondered why last night had been so peaceful. According to the way villains usually operated, night was always their favorite ti to cause chaos. Yet, no one had barged into their break room to rob them.

The only people she had dealt with were the four lecherous n who had harassed Zhao Lin.

She recalled that she had slapped one of them so hard he had scread like a dying pig.

No wonder she had found one of the voices familiar. It turned out one of them was the guard!

As soon as this thought passed through her mind, she and Nanzhi ran into three more people, each with bruised and battered faces, just like the guard.

These three n froze in fear and fled the mont they saw her, as though a monster were chasing them.

Zhao Lin, who had seen Nanzhi and Lin Weihao boarding the car, walked over and properly thanked them for last night.

Cho Jin and Helen Wu noticed her and followed, catching up.

Zhao Lin pulled out a small package wrapped in a plastic bag from her bag and placed them in Nanzhi's lap. Nanzhi could feel that it contained biscuits, a packet of noodles, and a bottle of water.

She had seen Zhao Lin's teammate's dinner, which consisted only of two packets of biscuits and one packet of noodles. This girl might have skipped her dinner last night to save these for them.

"This is all I have. Once we reach the base, I promise I'll repay you more!" Zhao Lin said with a warm smile.

Zhao Lin had always been straightforward. After handing over the supplies, she turned around and returned to her team without looking back.

Nanzhi's hands froze mid-air. The woman sprinted off before she could even return it. But judging from her observation last night, Zhao Lin would probably not take it back. She can return it with sothing else later.

Just as Nanzhi was about to close the door, two more figures appeared in her peripheral vision.

It was Cho Jin and Helen Wu.

Cho Jin approached them, with Helen Wu walking beside him, her arm wrapped around his.

Helen Wu was smiling brightly as she walked toward them. It was early morning, and there was still a slight chill in the air, yet she was wearing a dress that barely reached her thighs. As the breeze blew, the hem of her short skirt rustled, folding up to reveal more of her skin.

The n stationed at the entrance of the base couldn't help but whistle.

Cho Jin scratched his ears awkwardly before expressing his gratitude. "I've heard from Sister Zhao that you saved her from bad people last night. I'm here to thank you. If trouble ever cos your way, I, Cho Jin, will not hesitate to help."

Zhao Lin hadn't intended on sharing what had happened last night. She was the kind of person who liked to keep things to herself. After what had happened to her friend Tang Xue, her attitude toward Cho Jin had grown lukewarm. But since Cho Jin was so persistent, she had only vaguely told him what had happened.

As a result, Cho Jin's gratitude was aid more at Lin Weihao than at Nanzhi. He assud that it was Lin Weihao who had done all the work. Nanzhi, who had beaten up the molesters, never even crossed his mind.

As Cho Jin spoke, Helen Wu's eyes involuntarily strayed to the clean interior of the car, the comfortable seats, the cool air that brushed her face, and the faint floral and fruity scent that filled the space.

In comparison, their own car was hot, damp, and slled faintly unpleasant. This car felt like a paradise.

Her expression faltered, and a trace of longing crept onto her face. Nanzhi didn't miss this.

Helen Wu only snapped back to her senses when Lin Weihao spoke.

"It was my wife who helped your team mber. You should thank her, not ." He spoke without even the chance to lift a finger.

My wife?

Cho Jin blinked in surprise and looked at Nanzhi. Her hands and wrists, delicate and soft, seed to belong to soone who had never experienced the hardships of the apocalypse.

The virtual crops not only enhanced physical strength but also improved skin quality. Over the months, Nanzhi's appearance had gradually transford—from slightly weathered skin to flawless, fair skin.

It was clear that Cho Jin didn't believe what Lin Weihao had said. He thought Lin Weihao was just saying those words to please the woman beside him.

Cho Jin didn't pursue the matter further but still turned to thank Nanzhi.

"We're planning to head to the Longn Base. We've heard from others that it's safe, and the managent is offering special privileges for awakeners. The base is also abundant in supplies. How about you?"

Nanzhi raised an eyebrow. "Likewise. We're looking for soone."

She was searching for Lu iying and Lu Chenyu, and the best chance of finding them lay at Longn Base.

(A/N: Longn – Dragon Gate)

Unlike Cho Jin's ta expression, Helen Wu's expression faltered the mont she heard Lin Weihao say the woman beside him was his wife.

But Helen Wu's status as the dia Queen wasn't for nothing. She quickly adjusted her expression, realizing she had let her mask slip.

She flashed a sweet smile and said, "Oh, you two are together? That's wonderful! It must be very reassuring to have soone by your side in tis like this. I an, not everyone is strong enough to survive alone, right? I'm thankful to Brother Cho, too! Without him, I'd probably be worse off. Haha, sorry, I didn't an anything by that! Wishing you both happiness!"

Her words, though seemingly innocent, carried an underlying implication. If replayed in one's mind, it was clear she was subtly insinuating that Nanzhi was rely relying on Lin Weihao and wouldn't survive without him.

Yu Baoyin, sitting in the backseat, frowned. Was it just her imagination, or did Helen Wu just refer to Sister Nan as a weakling?
