After the commotion died down, the people hiding inside their hos cautiously opened their doors, peeking outside.
Once they confird the danger had passed, they quickly gathered around the corpses of the Winged Reaper Ants.
"What in the world is that ant?!"
"Two ters… at least! So all this ti, the ones we've been seeing were just the small ones? This is bullshit!"
"They only sent three this ti… How many more are out there?"
"What do we do? Where's Uncle Lao?!"
Fear gripped the crowd, yet they couldn't hide their awe at the guests' terrifying combat prowess.
Inside the Temporary Clinic on the First Floor.
Bingwen, Hei Qian, and Feng Ran had their hearts lodged in their throats, their nerves stretched taut.
They had just watched Brother Lin take on not one but two Winged Reaper Ants simultaneously.
Even dealing with one was already a nightmare-level challenge. How had he survived that?
"Ouch, don't press there."
"Where does it hurt? Is it painful?"
"There. It hurts, but if you kiss my wounds, it won't hurt anymore."
"Rogue."
"Heh."
The three n: …Never mind. Looks like Brother Lin is doing just fine. He even has ti to flirt.
Deciding they didn't want to be fed dog food any longer, the trio left the room and went to collect the ant corpses instead.
Unexpectedly, they bumped into Yu Baoyin on the way. Lao Gong and He Cuifen followed closely behind her.
After ensuring Lin Weihao was fine, Nanzhi turned her attention to the other injured man. His wounds were severe, but he was out of imdiate danger. However, he needed a blood transfusion.
Fortunately, two of the guards were a match.
"Thank you so much, Miss!" The guards who had brought the injured man were deeply grateful. dicine was more precious than food in this world, yet these guests had spared their valuable resources without hesitation.
anwhile, outside—
Feng Ran caught sight of Baoyin's injuries and imdiately scolded, "Hey! Why are you running around recklessly with a back injury?!"
Yu Baoyin ignored him and asked urgently, "Where is Sister Nan?"
"Pa… pa—cough, cough."
Jiu Jiu's face was pale, her breathing uneven. Her small body trembled in He Cuifen's arms. The earlier shock—fear, anxiety, and overwhelming emotions—had triggered a severe reaction.
"What's wrong with her?" Bingwen frowned, his eyes locking onto the girl. Her face was pallid, her lips tinged blue. Even her fingertips had taken on a bluish hue. Her mouth opened slightly as she struggled to suck in air.
Hei Qian's expression darkened. He muttered, "Asthma."
His late sister had suffered from the sa illness. The bluish discoloration—cyanosis—was due to oxygen deprivation.
"Asthma?" Bingwen sucked in a breath, realizing the severity of the situation.
"There's no ti to explain! Where is Sister Nan?"
"There! Fourth room on the left!" Feng Ran quickly pointed.
"Thank you!" Lao Gong and He Cuifen rushed forward.
"Hey! Don't forget to treat your wounds!" Feng Ran shouted after Baoyin, who had already taken off.
"Yes, otherwise, you'll get an infection, Miss Yu!" Bingwen added.
Nanzhi heard frantic footsteps just before the door burst open.
"Uncle Lao! Auntie He!" The guards greeted.
Yu Baoyin rushed to Nanzhi's side, pleading anxiously, "Sister Nan! Please, take a look at this little girl!"
Lao Gong and He Cuifen hesitated. Jiu Jiu's condition was special—she required specific dication. They could only pray that Wang Jian would return safely with the dicine after recklessly rushing out of the base.
Nanzhi's brows knitted together when she caught sight of the blood seeping through Baoyin's back.
Minutes later—
After rigging a power inverter to the car and charging the compressor, Nanzhi administered a nebulizer treatnt.
Jiu Jiu's condition gradually stabilized. Her face regained color, and her breathing evened out.
Lao Gong and He Cuifen were imnsely relieved.
"Miss Lu… are you a doctor?" He Cuifen asked hesitantly.
"I'm not. My knowledge is trivial."
Having a nebulizer and compressor conveniently stocked in a car was indeed suspicious, so Nanzhi added, "I know soone with asthma. We've always kept albuterol, a nebulizer, and a compressor on hand."
Lin Weihao, lying on the bed, heard his wife spin lies with open eyes. He choked on his own saliva and started coughing.
Everyone else: Ah… so it was just a lucky coincidence.
Yu Baoyin, however, had a different thought: Wait a minute… Sister Nan's boyfriend has been fighting fierce battles all this ti, and not once did he wheeze. Did I miss sothing?
Nanzhi hadn't expected Lin Weihao to play along, but his reaction made the story more convincing.
"The albuterol will last four to six hours, but since her breathing has already normalized, she won't need another dose. Just keep her away from stress for now.
"Here, take the rest of the dicine, the nebulizer, and the compressor. Just in case."
She was a jade and EXP hoarder, but she wasn't so miserly that she'd watch a child suffer when she had the ans to help.
Lao Gong and He Cuifen were stunned.
"But your boyfriend has asthma. We can't possibly take these!" Their consciences wouldn't allow it, even if they wanted to.
"We have spares." Lin Weihao was in a good mood. These people had good eyes.
"Right, and his… asthma is mild. He'll outgrow it eventually," Nanzhi added smoothly. "By the way, have you considered moving sowhere safer?"
Her understanding of asthma was shallow. Ultimately, it was better to seek a professional's advice.
He Cuifen and Lao Gong sighed. "We…"
Before they could answer, sothing caught Nanzhi's attention.
"Wait, why is there a pile of jade figurines in the corner?"
Nanzhi's eye twitched. These priceless jades were being treated like garbage?
"Oh, that! Many antique stores, jade markets, and jewelry shops were in this area before the disaster. They probably got washed here by the flood," Lao Gong explained.
Nanzhi coughed lightly before asking, "Can I take them? Consider them paynt for the dicine."
"Of course! No problem at all!"
After securing the jades, Nanzhi, Lin Weihao, and Yu Baoyin returned to the sixth floor.
anwhile, the guards searching for Wang Jian finally found him after an hour.
He was inside a ruined pharmacy, digging through the hardened soil.
Luckily, he hadn't encountered any alien beasts.
"Brother Wang! Co back already! Your daughter is fine!"
Wang Jian froze. His eyes flickered with disbelief.
"Are you lying just to make give up? Go back. I can't return without dicine. Jiu Jiu needs it."
The guards sighed and explained what had happened.
Only then did Wang Jian stop and rush back with them.
"Papa! You're back! I missed you!"
Beads of tears rolled down Wang Jian's face. He gathered his daughter into his arms, his hands trembling. "Jiu Jiu…"
Behind a raised curtain, Nanzhi was treating Yu Baoyin's wounds.
The girl sat in deep thought.
Once she finished dressing the injury, Nanzhi reminded her, "Don't let the wound touch water. I'll change the dressing at least three tis a day. Fortunately, it wasn't deep."
Yu Baoyin nodded but remained silent.
As Nanzhi put away the dical supplies, Yu Baoyin suddenly grasped her wrist.
"Sister Nan… can you stay for a bit? I want to tell you a story…"
