Yao Ran looked at the others and added, "If you go out alone or with other teammates, you only need to contribute twenty percent of what you find to the team. You can keep the remaining eighty percent for yourself."

The woman's frown deepened, but she said nothing.

Seeing this, Yao Ran added, "If you find these terms unsuitable, there is another option."

"What option?" the woman asked curiously.

Yao Ran raised two fingers and said, "We are here for two purposes. One is to recruit mbers for our team, and the second is to establish partnerships with rcenary teams. If you don't want to join our team, we can cooperate instead."

The woman looked intrigued and asked further. "What kind of cooperation?"

Yao Ran explained, "In the future, we will occasionally post missions. These missions will vary, ranging from supply collection to subjugation tasks. The rewards will depend on the mission's difficulty and risk."

She observed the woman for a few seconds and then continued, "I have heard this base recently opened a mission hall. We will be posting our missions there from now on. If you are interested in the rewards, you can apply to join the mission, and we will cooperate on specific missions."

After listening to Yao Ran's explanation, the woman pondered for a mont and asked, "What about living arrangents or supplies?"

Yao Ran chuckled at her words and replied, "Miss, if you choose not to join our team, we have no obligation to provide food or shelter to you or your team mbers. In that case, our relationship would be purely transactional."

"I'd be happy to work with you on missions. However, if you want us to provide supplies or a place to live besides the mission's rewards, I'm sorry—that's not sothing we can offer. We are not a charity organization."

After she finished speaking, the woman's face turned red with embarrassnt. She clenched her fists and lowered her head in silence.

Glancing briefly at that woman, Chen Zizhen turned to Yao Ran. "Miss Yao, if we join your team, will you truly provide us with food, dicine, water, and a place to live?"

"Of course," Yao Ran replied calmly.

Chen Zizhen studied her for a mont before asking another question. "Is that place the air raid shelter near Juncheng City?"

Yao Ran raised an eyebrow slightly and thought to herself, 'Indeed, only soone as careful and resourceful as this man could rise to prominence in the apocalypse.'

"Yes," she admitted with a slight smile. "I'm impressed you figured out that the shelter belongs to us."

When she gave him the answer, Chen Zizhen's eyes lit up. He clenched his hands to hide his excitent and calmly said, "Miss Yao, what do we need to do to join your team?"

Yao Ran shook her head and answered, "Nothing. If you decide to join us, you can stay with us from now on. Once we recruit enough people, we will return to our base. However, we demand loyalty from all of you. If we discover that any of you have betrayed us, the consequences will be death."

Hearing this, Chen Zizhen was stunned. However, there was little he could do except trust Yao Ran's words and join her team.

After a mont of thought, he nodded. "I have more than 200 people on my team. If you can accept all of them, then I will join your team."

To fight against The Ark and collect the information she wanted, Yao Ran needed Chen Zizhen's mind-control ability. With their current food production, feeding 200 people was not an issue for them, so Yao Ran agreed with Chen Zizhen's request.

She said, "No problem. We have plenty of space for everyone."

As soon as she said that, Chen Zizhen let out a sigh of relief. A small smile appeared on the corner of his cracked lips, and he said, "Thank you."

Noticing their tattered clothes and dirty faces, Yao Ran thought for a mont and asked, "I heard from Brother Yuan that you are living in the slum right now."

Chen Zizhen calmly nodded. "Yes, we are staying in the outer ring district of the slum."

Seeing her thoughtful expression, Chen Zizhen subconsciously rubbed his dirty hands on his clothes.

After hesitating for a mont, he said, "Miss Yao, I know it's presumptuous of to ask, but could you provide us with so food, water, and dicine? Most of us are sick and haven't eaten for days."

Judging by their sunken cheeks and thin bodies, Yao Ran realized their situation was worse than he described.

With that in mind, she said, "Alright. I will provide food and water for you and your companions. However, before prescribing dicine, I will need to assess the patients' conditions."

When Chen Zizhen and the others heard this, hope flickered in their eyes. The woman who had spoken earlier looked at Yao Ran and asked, "Miss, are you a doctor?"

"Not exactly, but I believe my dical skills are sufficient to assess and treat the patients," she replied with a smile.

Moved by her response, the woman suddenly knelt before Yao Ran.

Startled by her sudden action, Yao Ran quickly tried to pull her up. "What are you doing?" she asked.

The woman refused to rise and pleaded, her eyes red with tears. "Miss, I beg you to save my parents."

Seeing her tearful expression, Yao Ran's face softened. She firmly pulled the woman to her feet and said, "Stand up first."

Once the woman was steady, Yao Ran turned to Chen Zizhen and said, "It seems the situation is worse than you said."

Chen Zizhen was silent for a mont before nodding.

Seeing this, Yao Ran looked at Long Yu and said, "A Yu, I want to visit the slum."

"Alright. I will go with you," Long Yu said as he stood up.

Yao Ran nodded and then turned to the others. "Let's go."

As they were about to leave, Shi Xuan ca downstairs.
