212: Chapter 204 Investigation Direction 212: Chapter 204 Investigation Direction Cri scene investigation was an old hat for Jiang Yuan.

For an LV4 cri scene investigation, as long as the perpetrator wasn’t a professional criminal, one could almost always find sothing.

However, upon entering the door, what Jiang Yuan first noted was the bloodstains.

His Bloodstain Analysis was at an LV5, akin to a sprinter who could run a hundred ters in under 10 seconds; from the starting motion, every action was optimized.

Though he hadn’t done a detailed identification and hadn’t yet conducted a thorough analysis, based on what Jiang Yuan had seen so far, he could already draw many conclusions.

For example, the bloodstains Jiang Yuan saw indicated that the murderer’s movents, from the beginning to the end of the assault, were exceptionally broad.

With such extensive movents, in theory, an ordinary cri scene technician should be able to uncover so traces.

Especially the victim, when encountering such fierce assaults, even a slight resistance might leave behind so physical evidence of the murderer.

Yet, there was none.

From Jiang Yuan’s understanding, this situation likely ant that the perpetrator had made relatively thorough preparations.

They wore gloves, protected their neck, and wrapped up their hair, and so on.

The first image that ca to Jiang Yuan’s mind was that of a criminal clothed in a bodysuit, covering the head as well, wielding a blade, forcing the victim to retreat step by step before stabbing…

chasing…

and delivering additional blows…

During this process, the victim’s pitiful attempts at fighting back, even if they managed to scratch the perpetrator’s body, were repelled by the smooth fabric, to the point where not even a fiber of clothing could be torn off.

However…

to go to such great lengths to assemble a full set of gear, why then resort to such an outdated thod of killing with a blade?

Wouldn’t arson have been simpler?

It is still the ti fra of 3 a.m.

At this ti, normal people should be asleep; if the murderer was so familiar as to have a key, they should have opted for a night-ti throat-slash instead.

Although the bleeding would also be significant, it wouldn’t be to the extent of spraying blood all over the room.

Judging from the current amount of bloodstains, the murderer’s preparation was not thorough at all.

The more Jiang Yuan looked, the more contradictions he found.

At this mont, Hou Lejia urged, “Doctor Jiang, should I pair you with a few assistants or what?”

It was then apparent the differences in the working styles of different detectives.

Hou Lejia was more of a managerial type, having his own ideas and being obstinate about the direction of the investigation.

As for forensic doctors or cri lab personnel, he simply used them as tools without heeding their opinions, only wanting answers that steered in his direction.

Old-school detectives were often like this.

So detectives, around the early 2000s, were massively educated about interpersonal relations.

At that ti, the DNA lab was like Aladdin’s lamp, spitting out solutions to several cold cases every few days, without the need for any investigative thinking, sudden flashes of inspiration, or late nights and running around.

The first generation of DNA technology was as easy as slipping through an oily hot pot.

However, in front of even the most impressive technology, there were always stubborn conservatives.

Hou Lejia needed technology, but he never liked to delegate the power of directing to the technicians.

In contrast, he was not very concerned about the technicians’ mistakes, as long as they did as he asked.

Even if they made errors, he could manage not to lose his temper.

Perhaps due to this kind of personality, the carefree Doctor Ye and the cri scene investigators who started at LV0.6 could live so leisurely.

However, Jiang Yuan didn’t favor this mode of operation.

Or to be more precise, Jiang Yuan, who mastered LV5 Bloodstain Analysis, disliked following orders in a room sprayed with blood.

Since Hou Xiaoyong was too weak, his commands didn’t carry much weight to Jiang Yuan’s ears.

Jiang Yuan didn’t want to clash with him head-on.

After a mont of thought, he turned and said, “Let’s eat sothing first, I’m starving.

To start the investigation now, it would take at least five to six hours to complete…”

“Ah, look at what I was thinking,” Hou Lejia smacked his forehead and smiled, “What would you like to eat?

The pork intestines and chicken from last ti?

That might take a while, I don’t know if they’ve opened the stall yet…”

“Let’s go for luosifen,” Jiang Yuan interrupted Captain Hou’s monologue, “Sothing a bit stinky, to mask the sll.”

“Uh, are we just going to eat here?”

“We definitely can’t eat at the cri scene, let’s eat at the doorway after it’s cooked,” Jiang Yuandao said.

“That works.

Uh…

Hou Xiaoyong, go get a bowl of Luosifen.

Will one be enough?”

“One is enough, eating too much makes it hard to work.” Jiang Yuan paused, then instructed Hou Xiaoyong again, “Add a sausage, and two eggs.”

Taking advantage of the ti it took to cook the noodles, Jiang Yuan directly took out a notebook and began sketching the cri scene.

Hou Lejia did not understand the procedures and could not force Jiang Yuan, who hadn’t eaten yet, to start cleaning the floor right away, so he could only wait patiently on the side.

After a while, a stench distinct from the sll of decaying flesh swept over them.

“Doctor Jiang, are you coming out to eat the Luosifen?” Hou Xiaoyong popped his head in.

“Just wait a bit longer.” Jiang Yuan made a few more gestures, looked outside the door, and then ca back in, saying, “Captain Hou, I have an idea I’d like to discuss with you.”

Hou Lejia was taken aback and said, “Go ahead.”

“I have just taken a rough look at the cri scene and did a simple forensic reconstruction.

May I explain?” Jiang Yuan positioned himself at the doorway.

“Go ahead,” Hou Lejia said, giving his consent.

Jiang Yuan extended his hand flat and said, “Here, on the victim’s neck, there’s a dagger resting, slightly piercing the skin, being pushed in by the suspect.

The direction of these blood drops on the ground is towards the bedroom, and they are all slow…”

Hou Lejia looked on, not understanding the implications of Jiang Yuan’s words.

Jiang Yuan continued walking forward two steps, then turned around and said, “Here, the perpetrator carried out their first attack…”

“The victim possibly fought back but got pushed away.”

“From the bloodstains, it’s clear that the perpetrator pushed the victim to this spot.”

Jiang Yuan proceeded with the cri scene reconstruction, moving into the bedroom.

Then, instead of continuing, he turned around, walked out of the bedroom, and went back to the front door, saying, “If it was soone the victim knew, at around 3 a.m., would it not be contradictory to enter the house and point a knife straight away?”

Hou Lejia furrowed his brow, watching him.

“I believe it was a stranger who committed the cri.” Jiang Yuan reconstructed the cri scene—although it was a rough version, he could create a detailed reconstruction if needed.

In such a scenario, Jiang Yuan spoke with conviction.

Hou Lejia asked, “If it was a stranger, how did they enter the victim’s house at 3 a.m.?”

“The victim let them in.”

“The victim?”

“Yes, I just checked outside the door, and I suspect the perpetrator’s initial intent may have been just to commit theft.” Recently, Jiang Yuan had added more ti to so many petty thieves’ sentences, he had a good understanding of their identities and statuses.

Hou Lejia found it hard to believe, asking, “Steal what?”

“The bicycles and motorcycles at the front door.

Maybe they also intended to burglarize the house.

Only such petty thieves would wrap themselves up so tightly.”

“And then the victim ca over, opened the door to check?” Hou Lejia started adding to his knowledge base.

Jiang Yuan nodded, “And got taken hostage back inside.”

Jiang Yuan’s reasoning made sense, and Hou Lejia began to worry.

This completely changed the direction of the investigation.

“If the perpetrator is a stranger, then the little girl is at great risk,” Doctor Ye said slowly, and everyone’s expression turned grim.
