There are two pots of green philodendron by the door, with big, full leaves.

The front door is made of two large sheets of iron, with tal bars welded in the middle, clanking loudly when touched, giving a sense of age.

"Open up, police!"

Wu Junhao strongly pounded on the courtyard gate, his eyes alertly scanning both sides, with his hand resting on his gun.

On the other side of the big iron door, it was silent, as if it was uninhabited.

Wu Junhao knew the other party was a bit confused. If a familiar face knocked, the chances of opening the door might be higher.

Unfortunately, Wu Junhao didn’t have the ti or patience. For a forr fence, there was no need for sentintality.

With a wave of his hand, a burly man stepped forward with a battering ram.

Thump.

A muffled sound, and the iron door held by a simple lock burst open. Wu Junhao kicked it and raised his Type 92 pistol, shouting with his team, "Police! Hands on your head, squat down!"

The bald team mbers ard with shotguns and submachine guns charged forward.

The forr fence inside the courtyard was even more bewildered at the scene.

As a criminal working on the front lines for years, he had imagined his own arrest many tis, but his vision of police encircling him with flair was the grandest scenario he could conceive.

No need for guns! Especially so many guns, in the hands of sweating bald gym-goers, assaulting him with a thick Chengdu accent, it was suffocating.

He stared at the dark gun barrels pointed at his forehead, breaking into a cold sweat, feeling as if his life countdown had begun. Never mind that current firearms are less likely to misfire, but police nowadays are less experienced and more prone to accidents.

All gun users know, misfires are common—not frequent, but often talked about. And this is his life we’re talking about.

"What’s the matter?" The forr fence cautiously probed.

"Liu Haozi, you’ve violated the law." Wu Junhao wouldn’t answer, first securing the area before holstering his gun and personally escorting the fence while organizing a search.

He used to be a fence, and after making so money, began shifting to borderline legal activities.

He stopped fencing mainly because the number of robbers and thieves decreased, the risks rose, and profits lessened. As for why he continued committing cris after transitioning, legal business was highly competitive, and the risk of Criminal Law served as a moat for him.

Of course, when the moat floods and drowns the city, he must endure it too.

"Liu Da, we found a batch of counterfeit cigarettes." The initial search team quickly brought a pack to show Wu Junhao.

Wu Junhao chuckled, "Liu Haozi, you’re amusing. You quit fencing to sell fake cigarettes? You got a screw loose?"

"Real cigarettes." Liu Haozi responded weakly.

"Nonsense."

"They’re indeed real cigarettes, just sold at locations possibly not approved by the tobacco bureau." Liu Haozi said, resigning himself. Having faced the iron fist, seeing all these guns, he knew escape was impossible and confessed all his small matters. At worst, he’d do two years in prison; what else could happen?

Wu Junhao laughed, "I’ll check with the tobacco bureau, see if your story holds or if your cigarettes are fake."

With one comnt, Liu Haozi was upgraded from a fake cigarette seller to a manufacturer. He realized, with a bitter smile, "What do you want exactly? Just say it. I’m a small fish, no need for this many people..."

"I have my mission," Wu Junhao replied, pulling a few sketches of criminals out of his pocket to show Liu Haozi, "See if you recognize this person. About 15 or 16 years ago, you should have had dealings with him."

Wu Junhao wasn’t sure about their dealings, but just needed confirmation of it, so he was bluffing Liu Haozi a bit.

Liu Haozi stared at the sketch, falling into deep thought.

First pondering wasn’t who the person was, but why soone was looking for him.

As soone who had fought on the front lines of cri for years and been caught, the answer to this question could affect his future.

Wu Junhao also watched Liu Haozi closely.

This wasn’t his first ti catching a fence. He had refined his interviewing tactics, and each ti, judged trustworthiness based on surface observations.

Investigating such individuals differs greatly from ordinary people, heavily relying on the investigator’s on-site skills, which is why Xu Taining had to get Jiang Yuan’s approval before expanding the net.

Experienced investigators are rare, cultivated through life-risking endeavors, and every city or county bureau treats them as valuable assets. Without Jiang Yuan’s call, they wouldn’t allow captains or vice-captains to join in. Better to solve theft cases locally.

Liu Haozi felt the pressure, staring at the portrait, deep in thought...

Suddenly, Wu Junhao spoke, "No, with all this secrecy, the iron door, the underlings, lookouts in front, you’re just comfortable selling so cigarettes?"
