Chapter 9: Monster at

The next day, just at dawn, the maid arrived and said, “Master… breakfast is ready!”

Ruofeng woke from his deep sleep, stretching slightly. “Oh… breakfast is ready. And I have prepared the at for you?”

He had not forgotten the monster at he acquired the day before. Even though it was late, he had still taken his sharp blades to the garbage station and cut off a large piece of flesh from the beast. He had expected monster at to be difficult to cut, but to his surprise, it was not much different from regular at.

Taking out the sizable portion, he handed it over to the specially recruited chef. Today, he would test the effects of the monster at.

The maid handed him a set of washing utensils. “Master… Chef Sasaki got up early to prepare breakfast. Per your instructions, all three als today will use the at you provided as the main ingredient. However, Chef Sasaki has so doubts—he finds this at very strange.”

After freshening up, Ruofeng stepped out of his bedroom. “That is not sothing a chef like him should concern himself with. Take to the living room—I want to taste this delicacy.”

With those words, he strode directly out of the courtyard, the maid following closely behind.

Although Ruofeng’s residence was at the edge of Kiba Village, the estate was vast. More importantly, the courtyard was situated near the family residences, making it an exceptionally safe location. Many who had lost their livelihoods due to the war sought refuge here. Ruofeng’s grandfather had once recruited many young servants, training them over the years until they beca the current maids and attendants—even Chef Sasaki had followed the sa path.

In no ti, Ruofeng arrived at the living room where als were served. His grandfather was absent, but Jiraiya was already there, lounging in a recliner. Unlike yesterday, when he had seed on the brink of death, he now looked much better.

“No way! Uncle Jiraiya recovered so quickly?” Ruofeng exclaid.

Jiraiya chuckled. “I have you to thank for that. You have to take a dicinal bath daily, so your grandfather has gathered a wealth of precious dicinal ingredients. Yesterday, when I was gravely injured, those very ingredients kept alive. After that, I summoned the toads of Mount Myoboku to assist in healing my wounds. With their help, I have already recovered about forty percent.”

Ruofeng sat down slowly. “The toads of Mount Myoboku are quite sothing. Having a powerful summoning contract is truly beneficial.”

His gaze then shifted to the breakfast before him. Sasaki, the chef, entered the room as well. Though he usually did not co personally, today was an exception—Ruofeng had provided the ingredients himself. If sothing went wrong, it would be his responsibility.

Sasaki gestured toward the soup in front of Ruofeng. “This is at soup. The at the young master provided is a fiery red hue, and it retains an intense heat even after cooking. Though the soup has been thoroughly prepared, neither the color nor the warmth has diminished. Please be cautious while eating. And—”

Before the chef could finish, Ruofeng picked up a piece of the fiery red at and swallowed it.

The mont it entered his mouth, the heat surged through his body like a rushing tide. A warmth spread throughout him, as if he were enveloped in a comforting embrace. The morning grogginess vanished instantly.

Ruofeng chuckled. “Perfect!”

Though he had expected the monster at to have beneficial properties, he had not imagined it would rival so of the most precious dicinal ingredients. In reality, he had still underestimated its potency. Not only did it contain imnse nutritional value, but it also subtly enhanced physical strength.

He continued eating, relishing the sensation as the warmth circulated through his body, gradually fortifying his physique.

Jiraiya watched Ruofeng devour his al. “Is it that delicious, or were you just starving?” Despite his teasing, he signaled the maid to feed him. His limbs were still immobilized, having been shattered by Tsunade. He had no choice but to rely on assistance.

A piece of fiery red at entered Jiraiya’s mouth. The mont he swallowed, his eyes widened, gleaming with renewed vigor. He gestured for another bite. After the second serving, he raised his right hand. “I’ll do it myself.”

The arm that had been wrapped in bandages now moved, albeit sluggishly.

Ruofeng looked up. “You are recovering!”

“Not bad… It must be the effect of this at,” Jiraiya mused. “The warmth it contains not only restores the body but also strengthens it. Where did you find this? I have never heard of such a thing before!”

As Jiraiya continued eating, the effects beca more apparent. His once frail limbs, which had been completely useless, were now regaining mobility. His pale, weary face had transford into a healthy, ruddy complexion. The results were astonishing.

Ruofeng frowned slightly. “You are recovering so fast, yet I only feel slightly stronger.”

Jiraiya took another bite before explaining, “That is because you do not yet understand chakra properly. Chakra is a combination of ntal energy and cellular energy. While ntal energy can be restored through rest, cellular energy is replenished through food. In essence, food serves as a source of energy that nourishes the body’s cells. From there, ntal power extracts energy from these cells, converting it into chakra.

“If a ninja extracts chakra purely from their cells, how long do you think their body can withstand such strain? If not handled properly, they will die. Moreover, as a person’s chakra grows, it reaches a limit. Once depleted, chakra can only be drawn from the cells, and if their energy is entirely drained, it begins consuming the person’s very life force.

“Cell division and growth are essential life processes. Overdrawing cellular energy accelerates aging and leads to death. This is why chakra, while the foundation of a ninja’s strength, can also be deadly.

“This red at, however, is different. It replenishes cellular energy quickly and gently, allowing to generate chakra without straining my body. My bones and organs were shattered, and my very cells were damaged. But this at is nourishing my cells, allowing them to regenerate. With the help of my chakra, I will fully recover in three days.”

Finishing his explanation, Jiraiya took another bite and then looked at Ruofeng inquisitively.

“Now, tell —where did you get this at?”
