Chapter 23: Zan’s Scroll
Ruofeng was puzzled. His grandpa had known what happened at school.
Sitting in his small living room, he ate the monster at while casting a doubtful glance at his grandpa, who sat across from him, smiling kindly.
“Of course, I know!” Grandpa says, his voice filled with amusent. “Many of the teachers at the Ninja School were students I sponsored back in the day. Your teacher, Yamada, was one of them. After school, he ca to visit in person and told all about your experience today.”
Ruofeng hears this and asks curiously, “Grandpa… how many people have you sponsored? Even the teachers in the Ninja School are among them!”
Grandpa chuckles. “Quite a lot. These people will help you in the future. But what truly surprises is how quickly your ability awakened. The ability of our Zan is simple—once one’s ntal power reaches a certain threshold, it can awaken instantly.”
Ruofeng’s eyes glead with curiosity. “Grandpa… what kind of ability is this? Perception abilities are generally non-aggressive, but sothing about mine feels different.”
Grandpa’s smile deepens. “That would be the power of emotion. It is a special kind of coercion illusion. You see, ordinary illusions rely solely on ntal power—the stronger the ntal power, the more potent the illusion. Of course, so special bloodline limits exist beyond this rule.”
He continues, “Our Zan’s ability is straightforward—it transforms ntal power into heightened perception. When that power reaches a certain level, it can change based on emotions, manifesting as a unique ntal pressure that affects the emotions of others. In short, our ntal power can shift with emotions, sotis even forming specialized ninjutsu. However, very few in our lineage have ever been able to transform perception into emotional illusions. It requires imnse ntal strength, sothing that is notoriously difficult to cultivate. I never expected you to reach this stage so soon, Ruofeng. Perhaps, as you grow, your ntal power will strengthen further, allowing you to master emotional illusion techniques.”
Grandpa’s voice carries a hint of excitent. To see soone inherit the family’s legacy—surpassing even his achievents—fills him with pride.
Ruofeng chuckles. “I did not expect our family to have such an ability. Emotions turning into illusions… that is incredible!”
As he continues eating, he reflects on the events in the classroom. So, my emotions pulled on my ntal power and created a unique illusion, making those students feel fear…
Night had fallen by the ti Ruofeng stepped into his bedroom. His eyes drifted toward the corner of the room.
Grandpa had left, still brimming with joy over Ruofeng’s awakening.
Ruofeng’s gaze lingered on the corner. “Grandpa’s ability is strong, but it still falls short of the Sharingan. Besides, that kind of emotional illusion requires imnse ntal power. I am not strong enough yet. I should check what Uchiha Zan left behind first.”
He had discovered the hidden secret yesterday, and the curiosity had been gnawing at him ever since. Now, it was ti to uncover what lay within.
Forming hand seals, Ruofeng channeled chakra through his body.
“Unlock!”
With a soft exclamation, a passageway instantly revealed itself in the corner of the wall. The chakra cost was minimal—well within Ruofeng’s capacity.
Fixing his gaze on the entrance, he stepped forward and entered.
The passage flickered with candlelight, illuminating his path. Soon, he arrived at the hidden chamber he had visited the day before.
Ruofeng mutters, “With Uchiha Zan’s strength, whatever he left behind must be extraordinary. I just wonder if it will be useful to .”
His eyes land on a dust-covered scroll.
The chamber contained only three scrolls. Grandpa had ntioned two of them—the first, written by Uchiha Zan himself, and the second, an inheritance scroll ant only for the Uchiha Zan leader. However, the third one was a mystery, even to Grandpa.
Beyond the scrolls, weapons, and armor rested against the walls, but Ruofeng paid them no mind. The true treasures had long been taken by Uchiha Zan himself.
He stepped forward, brushing the dust off the first scroll, and his eyes scanned the text.
The writing was bold—arrogant, even. Each word exuded dominance and confidence.
After a while, Ruofeng leaned back with a wry smile. “This is exactly what I expected from Uchiha Zan. The content is profound and powerful.”
There was no denying it—everything recorded within was extraordinary.
Spreading out the scroll further, Ruofeng reads aloud, “Sage Arts, Fire Release, Lightning Release, Yin Release… Each one is incredibly powerful. Any of these techniques could beco a signature move. But unfortunately, they are all too advanced. For soone who has just started refining chakra, this might as well be a book written in the heavens.”
A sigh escapes him. The scroll contained an array of ninjutsu, but most were high-level techniques or outright forbidden jutsu. No matter how much he studied them now, they were beyond his reach.
Beyond ninjutsu, the scroll even covered Sage Mode, Wood Release, Yin Release… and the Impure World Reincarnation.
Nothing in this scroll was ordinary. If even one of these techniques appeared in the outside world, not every Jonin could master it.
Narrowing his eyes, Ruofeng carefully rolled the scroll back up. “I cannot practice these techniques yet. But one day… this will be invaluable. These advanced jutsu are likely absent from Kiba’s records. This is Uchiha Zan’s research—he even docunted his speculations on the First Hokage’s Sage Mode. If I grow strong enough, this knowledge will be priceless.”
Tucking the scroll away, he turned his attention to the second one.
This was the inheritance scroll of the Uchiha Zan leader—the most sacred and precious legacy of the Uchiha.
Picking it up, Ruofeng muttered, “I just hope the content inside is at a level I can use. Otherwise, it will be useless to .”
Slowly, he unrolled the scroll. His eyes flickered with intrigue.
