Chapter 12: The So-Called Underpinnings

“Do not underestimate the foundation of your own ho. What the hell is this? How co I do not know anything about it?”

Ruofeng’s heart rumbled with unease. Unfortunately, he truly had no idea. Growing up, Ruofeng had searched through the settlent before him dozens of tis, yet never once had he found anything related to ninjas.

Ruofeng had always believed his family to be ordinary rchants. However, he could not fathom how his family might have had nothing to do with ninjas. Not to ntion Jiraiya—his family’s hot spring business had always been entangled with them in one way or another.

He simply could not believe that his family had no involvent with ninjas.

Yet, after five years of searching, he had found no trace of them. Ruofeng had been on the verge of giving up when Jiraiya suddenly claid that his family’s heritage was not to be underestimated. Even more baffling, Jiraiya admitted that he was unclear about the details.

Ruofeng frowned, his thoughts churning. Grandfather looks soft and frail, just an ordinary old man. What kind of secret is he hiding?

Shaking his head, he turned his attention back to Jiraiya, who was already making his way out of the courtyard. With a wave of his hand, Jiraiya called back, “It is almost noon. Lunch needs to be prepared quickly. I want red beast at—it is a real tonic. But Sasori said it is a special treat, just for you. You are too cheap to keep it all to yourself!”

Ruofeng chuckled softly, watching Jiraiya leave. He muttered, “This is magical beast at. There were only a few tons to begin with. After we finish eating it, I wonder if there will still be any trash from the Doublestar World at the dump. Will there still be magical beast at?”

With that, Ruofeng turned and headed towards his small living quarters.

The place where Ruofeng resided was a secluded courtyard within a larger estate, a modest structure occupying about thirty percent of the grounds. Entering his small living room, his gaze fell upon a distant shelf. A bronze sword with a polished, gleaming luster stood out among the other objects. It had originated from the Tomb Raider’s Notebook world. By all logic, it should have been covered in patina, yet here it was, pristine and untouched by ti.

Walking forward, he lifted the sword gently, feeling the faint buzzing resonance emanating from it.

Beyond the sword, his collection contained a book and a jade box.

The book was a treatise on the Way of the Intercepting Fist from Bruce Lee’s world. In a realm like Naruto’s, where taijutsu was not particularly well-developed, this text was a valuable treasure. It contained nurous techniques on power control and combat, things Ruofeng needed to improve. He did not know how devastating the Way of the Intercepting Fist would be in the hands of a taijutsu ninja, but he assud it would not be weak.

Within the jade box rested three Kirin Exhaustion Pills, renowned for their ability to cure various ailnts. Even in Tomb Raider’s Notes, these pills had saved those afflicted by corpse poison. After ingestion, one’s blood carried an aura that repelled mosquitoes.

These were all precious items, yet they paled in comparison to the porcelain vial hidden within Ruofeng’s secret compartnt.

“The Foundation Building Spirit Liquid,” he murmured. “It may not be as potent as the one refined by Pill Elder, but for the people of the Naruto world, its effects will be anything but ordinary. The question is—can I even use it now?”

Ruofeng hesitated. In the original Doublestar world, when Xiao Yan used the Foundation Building Spirit Liquid, he endured excruciating pain—pain so intense it felt as though he were being torn apart.

Moreover, the Doublestar World and Naruto World operated on different principles. Perhaps children born in Doublestar were naturally stronger due to its abundant energy.

For that reason, Ruofeng had refrained from using the Foundation Building Spirit Liquid since acquiring it. Even with the magical beast at, he had only eaten it after confirming that Jiraiya showed no ill effects.

“Strengthen the body first with magical beast at,” Ruofeng decided, gently touching the porcelain bottle. “Then, I will use the Foundation Building Spirit Liquid.”

He carefully placed the bottle back into the secret compartnt.

Just then, a maid entered and bowed. “Young Master… today’s dicinal bath has been prepared. Shall we proceed?”

Ruofeng shook his head. “Forget it for today. Store it and combine it with the next batch.”

The maid looked surprised. This was the first ti Ruofeng had ever skipped a dicinal bath. However, as a re servant, she dared not question him. “Yes, Young Master.”

Before she could leave, another maid arrived. “Young Master… Chef Sasaki has co to inquire. There is not much of the red fierce beast at left—certainly not enough for today’s lunch.”

Ruofeng raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Then let him co and get it.”

With a nonchalant shrug, Ruofeng left his room and headed toward the small warehouse within the courtyard. Rows of refrigerators lined the space, all filled with frozen magical beast at—a stockpile Ruofeng had prepared overnight.

Days passed in the blink of an eye.

Each day, Ruofeng refined the chakra and practiced simple exercises. However, Jiraiya had warned him that his body could only handle so much chakra at this stage—any more would be a burden. As a result, Ruofeng’s routine shifted. He began using chakra for physical training instead.

With the aid of chakra, his speed, strength, endurance, and explosive power had increased significantly. However, a lack of control could easily lead to injury.

He had wanted to ask Jiraiya for ninjutsu training, but Jiraiya had outright refused, instructing him to focus on chakra control instead.

Left with no other choice, Ruofeng practiced chakra control. Fortunately, the techniques were straightforward—tree climbing and water walking, as seen in the original story.

Jiraiya, after consuming magical beast at for three days, had fully recovered. Without much ceremony, he had left to rendezvous with his team.

Ruofeng did feel so regret over those three days’ worth of magical beast at, but he had no one to bla but himself. He had used Jiraiya as a test subject, fearing that the at might harm him. Only after seeing no adverse effects had he dared to eat it himself.

As a result, Jiraiya had eaten freely for three days.

Thankfully, he had not eaten too much. Otherwise, Ruofeng would have been heartbroken.

Shaking his head, Ruofeng turned back to his training, walking toward the water ahead.

Chakra surged to his feet—his control was improving.

Just as he stepped onto the water, an aged voice called out from the distance.

“Ruofeng… Jiraiya is taking you to the ninja academy!”
