Chapter 229: The End of His Road
"Water Release…" An orb of water manifested in front of Ino. "Water Dragon Whip!"
Sharp tendrils of water shot out from within the orb, all aid at a single target.
Sai grunted in pain as he jumped away to avoid the water constructs and heard them impact the stone ground behind him, destroying everything in their path.
He then stood up and charged at Ino.
Even without his tools to create ink constructs, Sai was still an expert in taijutsu. He sent a barrage of punches and kicks at Ino as she struggled to block them.
"Urgh!" Ino received an impact on her belly and went tumbling down.
During all of this, Naruto watched their fight but did nothing to intervene or help her. This was her fight, and if she couldn't defeat this injured opponent, then perhaps he had been wrong in his assessnt of her.
On the other side of the chamber, Danzo was busy dealing with his clones. Waves of wind, water, and other elents were mixed with the occasional Wood Release attack.
A loud splash of water was then heard. Sai tried to attack Ino with a flying kick aid at her face, but instead ended up hitting a water clone.
The real Ino erged from the ground and imdiately took control of the remaining water around Sai.
"Water Release… Water Prison!"
The water moved extrely quickly, forming a sphere that trapped Sai inside.
The young man struggled to escape while Ino did her best to keep him there.
Naruto saw the conflict in her. This wasn't just difficult because she had to maintain her focus on the jutsu, but because she was slowly killing soone.
Because of her inner conflict, the water prison weakened, allowing Sai to escape it.
The black-haired ninja wasted no ti after getting out and lunged directly at her, with the intent to end her.
Naruto sighed, feeling disappointed by what he was seeing.
But just as he was about to move and save her, he felt Ino's chakra changing and becoming sharper.
"Water Release… Water Severing Wave!" After molding the water chakra in her stomach, Ino spewed a high-pressure stream of water capable of cutting through rock and steel.
She aid it at Sai, and he was in no condition to dodge, despite having seen her move.
The young man let out a grunt as his torso was cleanly cut in half, sending his legs one way while his chest fell on the other side with a 'thud.'
When he tried to speak, only blood ca out of his mouth, followed by choking sounds.
This lasted only for a few seconds, but Ino made sure she saw it all, not wanting to miss a mont of what she had done.
"I killed him…" she said.
"You did," Naruto nodded.
"He was going to kill if I didn't," Ino looked back at Naruto.
"He was doing what was best for him. You did what was best for you. There's nothing wrong in that," Naruto told her.
Ino nodded but didn't say anything.
Naruto knew the first kill was always difficult. He wanted to tell her that it gets easier with ti. Perhaps too easy… he felt little to nothing anymore when he killed his enemies.
"Ahhh!" The screams from Danzo filled the chamber.
'Speaking of enemies,' Naruto thought.
"Wait here for a minute. I have sothing to finish. Then I'll take you ho," Naruto told Ino before walking away.
As the sea of clones parted, they revealed the figure of Danzo.
The man was kneeling on the ground, bleeding from several spots on his body, but mostly from the right side of his face.
One of his clones approached him with a happy expression and presented sothing he was carrying in his hands… it was an eye.
Naruto took out a box from one of his storage scrolls and carefully placed the stolen Sharingan inside. "Good job."
He felt the gaze of Danzo on him and turned to lift his face to return it. "You brought this upon yourself, old man. No need to glare at like that."
Danzo seed to be having difficulty forming words. The clones had probably hit his throat several tis.
Naruto's attention went to the elder's right arm. Two more Sharingan were now closed, leaving only five left.
By the mories he had received from the destroyed clones, he knew that they had killed Danzo twice.
"So that's what's keeping you alive. Every ti you die, one of those closes," Naruto comnted.
He kept his attention on Danzo's expression and was able to see tiny changes on the old man's face.
"If I kill you five more tis, that Sharingan will close, and you'll stay dead then, but… what a waste of resources."
"U… Uzumaki…" Danzo muttered as he tried to stand back up.
Naruto's blue eyes were cold as ice. "Rip his arm off."
The clones moved without hesitation.
Danzo had no more strength to resist and could only scream as the clones removed his modified limb.
Like he did with the extracted right eye, Naruto stored it inside a scroll.
If looks could kill, then the look of rage that the elder was giving him with his only remaining eye would have done the trick.
"Elder Shimura… don't forget that it has been your own failure…to believe that you could take sothing from without consequences," Naruto lifted his right hand.
"No more protections?… Any last words at least?"
Danzo's body was starting to convulse, and his skin was growing paler due to the blood loss, but he still found the strength to speak once more.
"Y-you… you will… perish at t-their… hand."
"Hmm… I expected you to say sothing more insulting, or personal. Instead you gave a vague threat…how disappointing," he snapped his fingers, summoning a high-pressure blast of wind that destroyed the upper torso of Danzo without resistance.
This ti… he did not co back.
"Now…" Naruto got the attention of his remaining clones. There were still over two thousand of them inside the chamber. "Clean this place up. If you find more of those mas
ked ninjas, you know what to do."
Naruto turned around and began to walk away. "I have a lady to take ho."
