The blade of the Lightning Fla Blade slashed through the flas, and in an instant, it absorbed half of the chakra within them. Even the intense heat of the Fire Release technique was drawn into the sword, leaving nothing but dissipating embers.
The Dragon Fla Jutsu, a C-rank Fire Release technique, contained only a limited amount of chakra. With half of it absorbed by the Lightning Fla Blade, the remaining chakra was insufficient to maintain the jutsu.
In other words, any Fire or Lightning Release jutsu below A-rank would be nullified upon contact with this sword.
The elite Chūnin's eyes widened in disbelief as his technique was countered by a re weapon.
"What a peculiar blade—it can directly siphon chakra from ninjutsu." He muttered, his gaze darkening. "Could this brat be a core mber of one of Konoha's noble clans? That would explain why he wasn't afraid when he saw ."
In an instant, the man's mind was filled with wild speculation.
After all, weapons of such caliber were extraordinarily rare. Ordinary civilian-born shinobi could never hope to acquire them.
Yet, instead of feeling fear, the elite Chūnin's face lit up with excitent.
If he could kill Jiraiya, the weapon would be his.
Drawing a handful of shuriken, he activated the Body Flicker Technique, closing the distance to engage Jiraiya in close combat.
Coming from a minor shinobi village, his repertoire of jutsu was limited. Knowing the Lightning Fla Blade could absorb chakra-based techniques, using more ninjutsu would only waste his energy.
Shinobi from smaller villages often had fewer jutsu to master and therefore focused heavily on taijutsu.
"Fool."
Seeing his opponent's intention to fight up close, Jiraiya sneered inwardly.
Was this man in a hurry to die?
During his patrol days, Jiraiya had undergone an additional three years of taijutsu training. His taijutsu skills were already at the pinnacle among Chūnin.
Jiraiya activated his Body Flicker Technique, charging at his opponent.
The two clashed mid-air, swinging their weapons at each other before separating and landing on the ground.
"Argh!"
A scream tore through the air as blood sprayed, and a severed arm clutching a shuriken fell to the ground.
The cut was clean, and blood poured from the stump, staining the earth crimson.
The scar-faced Chūnin's expression contorted with pain, his eyes wide with terror.
"What... what speed!"
Recalling Jiraiya's earlier slash, the man's heart filled with dread.
Without hesitation, he used the Body Flicker Technique to retreat, trying to escape.
A seasoned warrior, the scar-faced Chūnin knew when to cut his losses. The mont Jiraiya struck, he realized he wasn't an opponent he could handle. Running was the only way to survive.
'Not entirely foolish,' Jiraiya murmured with a smirk.
His figure blurred as he used the Body Flicker Technique to give chase.
To Jiraiya, the retreating enemy was as slow as a turtle. In re monts, he closed the gap, slashing down with his blade.
Another spray of blood erupted as the scar-faced Chūnin's head flew into the air.
Thud!
The headless body collapsed to the ground.
'Not from one of the major villages, then,' Jiraiya mused coldly as he flicked the blood off the Lightning Fla Blade.
He had seen elite Chūnin from Konoha in action, and their strength far surpassed this man's.
Aside from the chakra level of a typical elite Chūnin, this man's jutsu and taijutsu were diocre at best. It was clear he hailed from a minor village or was a rogue shinobi.
Still, sothing about the situation puzzled Jiraiya. Shinobi from minor villages or rogues would never dare to attack Konoha ninja unless they had a death wish.
"There must be a larger force behind this... but who?"
Kicking aside the scar-faced Chūnin's corpse, Jiraiya resud his pursuit of the invading shinobi.

"Where's Jiraiya?" Hatake Sakumo, arriving to provide support, frowned when he noticed Jiraiya wasn't with Tsunade.
"There are enemy forces nearby. Jiraiya stayed behind to monitor their movents while I ca to report," Tsunade replied quickly before turning to head back.
"Tsunade, stay here and wait for Sarutobi Jūrō and the others. We'll join forces before heading out," Sakumo ordered.
"Jiraiya sent to report because it was safer," Tsunade said firmly. "I've delivered the ssage. Now I'm going back to support him—I won't leave him alone in danger."
Sakumo's eyes showed a hint of approval, but he said nothing more.

"That brat's already caught up?"
The jōnin from Agakure was startled to sense Jiraiya's approach.
"Kazeo's chakra signature has vanished. He must've been taken out by that kid."
"Useless idiot," another jōnin spat. "How could he get killed by a Chūnin?"
"Don't underestimate this one," the first jōnin warned. "He must have so skill to take down Kazeo so quickly. We won't make the sa mistake. You two handle him. Don't let your guard down."
Two Chūnin imdiately broke away from the group, charging toward Jiraiya.
"So, you still underestimate ?"
Jiraiya's expression darkened as he sensed the two enemies heading his way.
"Brat, I don't know how you killed Kazeo, but you won't escape . I've never killed a Konoha ninja before—today will be my first!"
"Enough talk. Let's finish him quickly and focus on securing the herbs," the other enemy snapped.
The two Chūnin ford hand seals, unleashing their jutsu.
"Water Release: Water Surge!"
"Wind Release: Wind Cutter!"
A jet of water and a barrage of wind blades shot toward Jiraiya.
"Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!"
Jiraiya slamd his hand onto the ground, and a thick wall of earth rose to block the attacks.
The wall was over a ter thick—ordinary jutsu wouldn't break through it in a single strike.
Jiraiya wasted no ti. Using the Body Flicker Technique, he appeared to the right of his enemies, channeling Fire chakra into the Lightning Fla Blade and hurling it toward them. His hands moved swiftly, forming seals.
"Great Dragon Fire Technique!"
The sword trembled as fire chakra burst from it, roaring to life.
