Neji stood frozen for a mont, his expression subtly strained as he glanced between Hiashi’s expectant eyes... and Hinata’s flushed, bashful face.

He opened his mouth then closed it again.

He couldn’t say it. Not now.

Saying anything would only hurt Hinata, and he wasn’t that cruel. But staying silent?

...That might be worse.

His thoughts tangled in a knot. Morally, emotionally, genetically it was complicated.

Marrying within the Hyūga clan wasn’t unusual. Internal pairings had long been the norm, a ans of preserving the purity of their Kekkei Genkai. He’d seen it happen plenty of tis.

But now that he was involved... it hit differently.

Hinata wasn’t just so cousin. She’d always been like a sister to him. A sweet, gentle presence who believed in him when others didn’t. It made his stomach twist.

But at the sa ti...

His genes were no longer purely Hyūga. His bloodline had mutated, evolved beyond traditional standards. There was no real risk of hereditary defects anymore. Biologically speaking, they were no longer close.

That’s what he told himself.

> Genetic diversity... dominance suppression... allele divergence... You studied this, Neji. You know the logic.

And in a world like this one, ruled by bloodlines, Chakra affinities, and inherited power, blood purity wasn’t taboo. It was strategy.

Still, the weight of modern ethics clung to him like a second skin. In his first life, he’d never even have considered this. He would’ve shut it down imdiately.

But that was the old world.

In this world, no one batted an eye. Not Hiashi. Not Hinata. Not even Hanabi, who’d probably volunteer if she thought it helped the clan.

Neji sighed.

Environnt shapes the soul.

Even convictions erode under pressure.

He wasn’t proud of it but in that mont... he didn’t resist.

He said nothing.

He didn’t refuse, didn’t affirm, didn’t protest. He simply... accepted.

And that was enough.

---

Hiashi, mistaking Neji’s silence as acceptance, straightened his robes with pride.

"Neji," he declared warmly, "the future of the Hyūga clan rests in your hands. I’ll pave the path for you, shield you from dissent, silence the elders."

He spoke like a man relieved of a lifeti burden.

The new Caged Bird Seal would be implented gradually through rituals, through tradition. Not forced upon the elders, but introduced as an honorable reform.

It would be etched by his own hand.

Neji would inherit the role.

Together with Hinata, they would bridge the fractured gap between the main house and the branch. A unified clan reborn.

"You and Hinata are the key," Hiashi said softly. "Only your bond can truly heal the split."

Neji forced a nod. So did Hinata, her face still faintly pink. Hanabi just grinned.

---

Later, the three of them left the room and walked through the Hyūga training courtyard.

Hinata kept her head down the entire ti.

Hanabi, on the other hand, was full of energy.

"Neji-nii, what kind of powers does your Tenseigan have now? Is it true your eyes evolved?"

She’d overheard the na from Hiashi earlier and was brimming with curiosity.

Neji smiled.

He raised a hand and suddenly, Hanabi lifted off the ground, suspended in mid-air by a force she couldn’t see or fight.

"Whoa! What is this? I can’t move!"

"Gravitational manipulation," Neji replied calmly. "One of the side effects of the evolution."

Hanabi twisted in the air, trying to escape. She didn’t know it yet, but in a different tiline, her own eyes had once awakened the Tenseigan though they later regressed.

"I’m still getting used to it," Neji added, lowering her gently. "Control is tricky."

Then, with a cheeky grin, he reached out and pinched Hanabi’s cheeks, stretching her face in both directions like she was made of putty.

"Nejiiii! Stop! Hinata-sis! Help!"

Hinata finally stepped forward, her soft voice chiding, "Neji-nii, don’t bully her."

Neji let go, but not without ruffling Hanabi’s hair. She pouted, cheeks red, and clung to Hinata.

Neji turned to look at Hinata.

Tall now. Poised. Her long, straight hair fell past her waist a style clearly modeled after his own. She wore a fitted white-and-grey shinobi outfit that subtly accentuated her form much more flattering than the baggy robes she used to hide behind.

"You knew," he said softly.

Hinata blinked. "Knew what...?"

"That I’d change. That I’d awaken sothing else. That I’d leave the old Hyūga behind."

She lowered her eyes, flustered. "I... I just believed in you."

Hanabi popped out again, giggling. "Of course she knew! That’s why she’s gonna—mmph!"

Hinata jabbed her sister in the ribs, silencing her instantly.

Neji chuckled.

She’d grown strong, his cousin. Confident. Determined. He’d been training her for years, passing on everything he knew the new forms of Gentle Fist he developed, the Chakra control techniques he refined.

Even now, those skills were being used... on her own sister.

The two girls sparred constantly, pushing each other forward, both secretly aiming for one thing: to beat him.

And Neji welcod it.

They were growing. Evolving.

Just like he was.

---

As the two sisters play-fought in the courtyard, Neji’s gaze shifted.

A subtle glimr flickered across his eye sothing only he could see.

A translucent interface appeared in his peripheral vision, revealing a live feed of the Sand Village.

"They’ve moved."

Temari’s position was still stable. Gaara... less so.

His custom chakra-lens contact system was running at full capacity.

High-resolution chakra mapping, thermal scanning, scent tracking, genjutsu protection all integrated.

A full surveillance and communication suite, crafted from pure Chakra manipulation at a cellular level.

It wasn’t just science. It was chakra art.

He was close to replicating the ultimate eye.

Not in na... but in function.

Neji exhaled.

The war hadn’t begun yet but it was coming.

And this ti...

He would be ready.
