Fugaku hunched over as he hurried toward the underground hideout, glancing back every few seconds to make sure he was still being followed. As if constantly worried his son might lose his way.

The old man's odd behavior finally caught Kaito's attention, who eyed Fugaku with suspicion.

"Why do you keep staring at ?"

Fugaku wiped the sweat from his forehead, feigning nonchalance. "It's nothing, nothing."

"Just... it's been a while since I last saw you."

Kaito: ?

The sudden sentintality from his father left him thoroughly unsettled. After all, by his count, he'd only been away from the village for twenty days.

"Fugaku, don't be like this."

"I'm a bit unaccustod to this."

Thud—

Upon hearing his filial son's voice, Fugaku imdiately punched the tunnel wall, the bulging veins on his forearm clearly revealing his current mood.

If not for fear of the tunnel collapsing, he would have really made his dutiful son revisit Fire Release training.

"No respect for elders!"

"Have you forgotten all the clan's etiquette?"

Kaito lowered his head in silence, blaming his current behavior entirely on the Sect's ancestral master. The way he was today was all his ntor's fault.

Of course, his old father wasn't entirely blaless either.

"Hmph!"

Fugaku snorted irritably, clasped his hands behind his back, and strode quickly to sit in the secret chamber. He grabbed the water kettle on the table and tilted his head back to drink directly from it.

Gulp, gulp, gulp—several large swallows later, he finally suppressed the anger in his heart.

After finishing the entire pot of tea, Fugaku slowly exhaled and then said sowhat reproachfully,

"Speak."

"I told you not to co back, didn't I?"

He knew his son well. While Kaito might say things like wanting to see family, that definitely wasn't the main reason.

"How have things been lately?"

"When are you planning to make your move?"

Kaito casually pulled up a chair and asked nonchalantly.

Hearing this, Fugaku pondered for a mont with a strange expression. "There's been an unexpected developnt."

"You must have heard about the situation at the Land of Fire's border."

Kaito nodded, waiting for his father to continue.

How could he not know about the commotion he himself had caused...

"The village suspects it was that mysterious organization's doing, aiming to disrupt the established rules of the Shinobi World..."

For the next half hour, Fugaku began recounting recent events in the village to Kaito.

Based on the behavioral patterns of two S-rank missing-nin, Konoha recently concluded that these two individuals were completely lawless in their actions.

Things like proclaiming they would turn powerful shinobi into human Puppets, or wantonly plundering the daimyo's casinos and brothels—these acts had made several major nations detest this Akatsuki Organization intensely.

Especially Chiyo, the Suna advisor, who had stood up a few days ago to explain to everyone that her grandson had already embarked on a path of destruction, even issuing a high-value bounty.

Even the small village of Takigakure ca forward to recount Kakuzu's past atrocities one by one, lanting their village's lack of strength and calling for joint action to punish that damned traitor.

After discussions among the major villages, they decided to jointly approach Agakure—both to test the waters and see if they could capture those two missing-nin to obtain their powerful secret techniques.

Worth ntioning...

This ti, Danzo was actually the first to step forward, completely lacking his usual tendency to oppose the Third Hokage.

That guy even said Root shinobi were willing to take the lead.

Now, regardless of whether the "sun" at the Land of Fire's border was Akatsuki's doing, everyone believes it was this mysterious organization's work.

Their goal being to attempt the destruction of the major nations.

"So..."

Fugaku smiled faintly here, a rare expression. "The village considers they still need us for now, so they probably won't move against us for quite so ti."

"The Third even assigned us as the vanguard for this operation, to go to Agakure together with Root shinobi."

Speaking of this, the clan leader suddenly felt the weight on his shoulders lift.Fugaku's original intention was to carry out the coup with minimal casualties within the clan as quietly as possible. However, with Shisui missing and his eldest son suspected of defecting, the previous desperate plan was truly a last resort.

Now that there was a chance for de-escalation, he was unwilling to act rashly at this critical juncture, lest a full-blown conflict end up benefiting other villages.

"You? The Root??"

"Going to Agakure together?!"

Kaito was so shocked that he shot up from his chair, staring at his old man as if he were an idiot.

"Wait—"

"Aren't you worried the Root might turn on our clan first once we're on the battlefield?"

There was one more thing he didn't say to his father.

Though the Akatsuki Organization hadn't yet recruited all its mbers, just the scheming villages alone would make fighting alongside them a disaster…

Honestly.

He had a feeling the villages would suffer heavy losses.

And Danzo was highly likely to stab the Uchiha clan in the back on the battlefield.

That old bastard was truly treacherous!

"Hmph!"

Fugaku exuded killing intent, slamming the table in front of him before coldly declaring:

"The Uchiha clan is invincible on the battlefield!"

"A re Root…"

"Is nothing to fear."

Kaito: "..."

If the battleground were within the village, Fugaku might hesitate. But on the actual battlefield, he truly wasn't worried about betrayal from their own people.

If that happened, Danzo would be the first to fall—and then the other villages would turn their full fury on Konoha.

As long as the Third Hokage wasn't a fool, he would never allow such a thing.

Fugaku's brief words carried the sa weight as "victory is assured." He was already considering whether his "dear elder brother" would make a move during the battle.

Afterward, the entire Uchiha clan would likely et their end amid cheers and laughter.

At least then, Sasuke could remain in the world as the son of a hero.

Not to ntion, Danzo could use this chance to eliminate dissenters and finally overthrow the Third Hokage.

Absolutely devious!

"You—"

"This is worse than just going all-out from the start."

Kaito rolled his eyes, barely stopping himself from outright calling his father an idiot.

"You're still young…"

"You don't understand the intricate web of interests at play here."

"Acting recklessly… would cost us too many lives."

Fugaku's tone brooked no argunt, prompting Kaito to activate his Three-Tomoe Sharingan.

"We can act directly."

"And another thing—"

Fugaku paused for a few seconds, frowning as he cut him off.

"Hah, Three Tomoe?"

"Average."

"Still… still a bit lacking compared to ."

Kaito: "..."

Hearing his father's arrogant words, he finally understood where Sasuke's annoying traits ca from.

Besides…

Next ti you brag, at least don't stutter.

Seeing his son about to speak again, Fugaku swiftly changed the subject, brushing past Kaito's earlier suggestion.

"Enough. The clan has already agreed, under my persuasion, to stand with the village for now."

"I will find a way that satisfies both sides."

"Besides…"

"Your Three Tomoe doesn't decide anything."

Fugaku seed resolute, deaf to any further advice. His unwavering confidence left Kaito speechless.

After a long silence, Kaito finally looked up, eting his father's gaze with utmost seriousness.

"Does the Uchiha clan have to stay in the village?"

"What if we fake our deaths, then leave Konoha for good?"Fugaku was about to respond to his son with phrases like "since ancient tis" and "the legacy of Konoha must not be abandoned" when he heard the words "fake death." Instantly, he shut his mouth, averted his gaze, and beads of sweat began pouring down his forehead.

Damn it…

Did this kid figure sothing out?
