At least half of Hidan's strength was embodied in the cursed technique Death Possession by Blood.
But the problem right now was simple—he couldn't get close to the enemy.
If he couldn't get close, he couldn't deal damage.
If he couldn't deal damage, he couldn't obtain blood.
And without blood, the ritual couldn't be perford.
After finally seeing through the enemy's weakness, he no longer had any chance to exploit it.
Forget being "truly convinced"—Hidan was practically about to explode with rage!
Timing, terrain, montum—he had none of it. All of it was on the other side.
WDNMD!
"Sand Curse Transformation · Sandstorm Dance!"
After the third wave of sand blades filled the sky, Hidan had almost turned into a walking blood gourd.
Yet the one thing that hadn't changed were his eyes—filled with the malice of the world, locked firmly onto Saibote.
It was as if, given even the slightest chance, he'd bite a chunk off the other man—even if all he had left was his mouth.
"I've already slowed the rate at which the quicksand sinks," Saibote said calmly.
"Before you're completely swallowed, I have enough ti to cast ten more rounds of Sandstorm Dance. I'm quite curious—how many more rounds can you endure?"
Hidan grinned savagely through his bloodstained face.
"How many rounds? This kind of stuff's got so comfortable I'm about to fall asleep!"
As a hardcore masochist, this kind of physical tornt was practically a gift from heaven!
The only thing that annoyed him was not being able to make the other guy enjoy the sa kind of pain.
After several rounds of Sandstorm Dance, Saibote also seed to realize that this thod wasn't going to make his opponent submit.
So should he just finish this human off, or—
As if recalling sothing, Saibote suddenly shifted his gaze behind Hidan.
"I once heard a term among you humans—bonds."
"For a long ti, I couldn't understand what this word ant. Until not long ago, when a male human, in order to let his companion survive, spared almost no cost to hold back for just a brief mont."
"Afterward, I found it quite interesting. It helped better understand human emotions."
"So I didn't kill that male human. Instead, I kept him by my side."
"Then sothing even more interesting happened. That female human who escaped didn't cherish the life she'd barely preserved—instead, she brought many helpers and ca back to find , trying to rescue him."
"At that mont, as I watched them, I seed to understand."
"So this… is what you humans call bonds."
At this point, Saibote suddenly pointed the snake sword behind Hidan.
"That person back there is your companion, right? If he hadn't tried to save you at the start, how could he have lost an arm and his right leg so easily, left lying there waiting for death?"
"So now, I'm very curious about one thing."
"To save him, what are you willing to give up?"
"Or rather—just how deep are the bonds between you?"
"Sand Curse Transformation · Sand Soldier!"
Before the words even finished falling, a yellow sand soldier condensed beside Shinji's "corpse," gripping a long spear ford of sand and aiming it directly at Shinji's heart.
"I'll kill you—I'll definitely kill you!"
Hidan ground his teeth together, his face twisted like a demon.
Even at this mont, he still didn't beg—nor would he ever say anything submissive.
Because he knew very well that it would be useless, serving only to earn the enemy's ridicule.
And besides, Shinji definitely wouldn't want to see him in such an ugly state.
More importantly—
That kind of attack couldn't kill them.
"Maybe that bastard Shinji will even survive and turn misfortune into fortune…"
For so reason, such a thought suddenly surfaced in Hidan's mind.
Pff!
The sand spear pierced cleanly through Shinji's heart.
"It seems your bonds aren't all that impressive after all."
Not seeing the scene he had hoped for seed to disappoint Saibote sowhat, but that didn't stop him from continuing to provoke Hidan.
Although Hidan knew that bastard Shinji wouldn't die, his temples were still twitching violently, veins bulging on his neck.
"Your earlier guess was correct. This sword truly is the key."
"It possesses two abilities—amplification and desiccation."
"Of course, during sandification, both abilities are temporarily disabled."
"Your observational skills are sharp—but this is as far as you go."
Hidan's performance earlier had left Saibote sowhat disappointed. Telling him all this was rely a small reward for lasting this long.
After all, in his view, dead n couldn't talk.
He was still unfamiliar with certain special techniques humans possessed.
And besides—even if this weakness were known, it would be extrely difficult for anyone to seize the opportunity and make use of it.
After several exchanges, Saibote had fallen into a subtle misconception.
The truly top-tier powerhouses among humans were far more dangerous than he imagined.
"It's over."
"Sand Curse Transformation · Infinite Sandstorm Dance!"
Saibote pointed forward with the snake sword. This ti, the sand blades would not stop until only death remained.
However, at the very instant the countless sand blades began to form—
A voice suddenly rang out behind him.
"Idiot—eat my Piercing Shadow Strike!"
The Shinji who had supposedly died from his heart being pierced now stood behind Saibote, completely unhard, wielding the Executioner's Blade.
"Die!"
Without ti to think, Saibote almost instinctively entered a sandified state, narrowly avoiding being cleaved in half.
But in the very next mont, he regretted it!
Because from the very beginning, his opponent's target had never been him—
It was the snake sword in his hand!
Clang!
Scarlet Scale Surge · Load Stealth-Breaking Strike!
This blow could be considered Shinji's peak attack.
Under that trendous force, the golden snake sword was knocked flying almost instantly, slipping free of Saibote's control.
Yet in the next mont, Saibote went completely mad, canceling his sandification right in front of Shinji.
Because in a sandified state, he couldn't reclaim the snake sword!
A massive arm ford of yellow sand shot skyward, grabbing straight toward the snake sword tumbling through the air.
"Hidan!" Shinji couldn't help shouting.
"Shut up—watch this!"
Having bottled up his rage for far too long, Hidan hurled the Triple-Bladed Scythe with all his strength almost the instant Shinji knocked the sword away.
The rapidly spinning scythe tore through the sky like a blood-red moon rising eerily into the air.
Then, beating the giant sand hand by a split second, it struck the snake sword first.
Clang!
The golden snake sword was sent flying once again!
At the sa ti, Shinji stopped watching the show.
"I was just watching for a bit and still caught a stray! Do you have any idea how painful it is to get your heart pierced, you bastard?!"
Pff!
In his attempt to reclaim the snake sword, Saibote took this slash head-on.
The deep, lengthy wound across his back nearly split him diagonally in two!
