Opening the Eight Gates Formation ant almost certain death. But this was Guy's Ninja Way. Lee could only clench his fists, desperately holding back tears.

The Raikage and others were visibly shaken by the raw force Guy displayed.
Suppressing his grief, Kakashi explained, "The Eight Gates Formation removes all the body's limitations, allowing one to release power beyond their natural limits. But that power isn't permanent. Opening the Eight Gates… ans burning your life in exchange."
The Raikage—who always prided himself on physical strength—couldn't help but widen his eyes. Might Guy's power surpassed anything he had ever imagined.
