Listening to Genya’s inquiry, Kakashi looked at him seriously. His tone grew heavy, and his expression beca extrely stern.
No need to say more.
The investigation last night and during the day had left him unexpectedly furious.
So many people had disappeared, and all signs pointed to the Sarutobi clan and Danzo Shimura. Not to ntion... Hiruzen Sarutobi must have known, and even helped cover it up. It made him angry.
Not just angry—this was outrageous.
Now Kakashi could no longer hide the rage burning inside him. If it were the old Kakashi, he would probably have confronted Hiruzen Sarutobi by now.
But he knew that even if he questioned him, Hiruzen would not give a real answer. Worse, he might even beco a target on Hiruzen’s kill list.
"So, you’re investigating the missing people too?" Genya looked at Kakashi and a smile curved his lips. "It seems Kurenai-sensei told you so things already."
Genya could sense the anger simring in Kakashi’s thoughts and the restless chakra coursing through his body.
It was certain.
Kakashi was truly furious now, and the anger had no outlet—it was suffocating.
"Yes," Kakashi nodded.
"In that case... follow ," Genya said, scanning the surrounding area.
Then, he reached into his chest and pulled out a mask, placing it over his face.
A monkey—the Sun Wukong mask.
However, at this mont, the eyes revealed through the mask were not covered by the black fla. They exposed a pair of unusual, special eyes.
And as Genya stepped forward, the tomoe began to appear in his eyes. At the sa ti, a sharp killing intent radiated from him, and chakra quietly leaked from his body.
"This...?"
Kakashi looked at Genya, his eyes widening instantly, and when he t Genya’s gaze, there was even a hint of fear.
Six tomoe.
Even the faint chakra radiating from Genya alone made Kakashi feel oppressed, leaving him slightly short of breath.
This was the first ti Genya had shown such a side in front of Kakashi, and especially when he saw the true six tomoe in Genya’s eyes, the terrifying power radiating from his gaze caused even Kakashi’s hidden Sharingan to tremble slightly.
He also possessed the Sharingan and naturally knew that each tomoe added a new ability.
Even the Mangekyō only gave two extra special abilities, but six tomoe granted three more abilities than a normal Sharingan.
He couldn’t imagine what would happen if Genya awakened the Mangekyō.
The consequences would be terrifying.
No wonder Genya was so strong.
Taking a deep breath, Kakashi followed, but this ti he put on a mask.
At the sa ti, he revealed the Sharingan in his other eye.
Having been an ANBU for so long, Kakashi appeared more relaxed with the mask on, unrestrained.

Thinking this, Kakashi’s expression grew firr, and his steps more composed.
Genya, who walked ahead, was observing Kakashi. From the chakra fluctuations in Kakashi, he could tell exactly what Kakashi was feeling.
In a way, if Genya wished, he could serve as a lie detector, reading anyone’s true psychological reaction the mont they spoke.
He was very satisfied with the emotions Kakashi displayed.
Kakashi’s loyalty to Konoha was genuine.

Genya and his companion stepped forward. Ahead was the Root base, quiet and deserted.
Even the slightest sound of footsteps seed unusually clear at this mont, and each step stirred the hearts of everyone present.

As they were about to enter Root’s territory, several masked Root ninjas leapt out from the shadows.
From their voices... could it be? An old acquaintance?
This very person had driven them away that morning. Unexpectedly... they t again here.
Truly, enemies et on narrow paths.
If they were keeping watch tonight, they couldn’t bla Genya for seeking revenge.
"Who are you? Haven’t you forgotten? We just saw you this morning," Genya slowly lifted his head to et the gaze of the one in charge. Then he continued, "This morning, you drove away!"
Huh?
The leading Root ninja was stunned, his mind racing to recall the morning’s events.
But as he rembered, his eyes t Genya’s, and he was shaken. The Sharingan... it was obvious now.
In all of Konoha,
The only one with the Sharingan who had been driven away... was a child of the Uchiha clan, Uchiha Genya!
A chill ran through him.
"You are Uchiha Genya," the Root ninja thought angrily, though he quickly steadied himself. Disdain crept into his gaze.
"So, you’re still upset after being driven off by us this morning. And now you dare to sneak into Root at night? I advise you to forget it. With us guarding here, you won’t get in!"
To these Root ninjas, Genya seed like a pampered child. Trying to sneak into Root at night, and even having the audacity to approach openly...
Did he think Root had no guards at night?
How naive.
And so laughably naive, given the power of the Uchiha clan. Genya smirked, slightly bemused.
"Yes, that’s right. I want to see Root at night," Genya said firmly, eting their eyes without hiding anything.
He had co simply to see what was going on inside Root.
"If you’ve been discovered, then turn back. Don’t bring trouble upon yourself," the Root squad leader said, smiling at Genya’s resolve.
He added, "If you don’t leave, don’t bla us for being ruthless... Root doesn’t care about your identity!"
"Oh? And how exactly will you be ruthless?" Genya’s interest piqued. He looked at them and said slowly, "This ti... I really don’t want to leave!"
"In that case... we’ll have to teach you a lesson!" The Root leader stared at Genya, disdain flashing in his eyes behind the mask.
"067, report to Lord Danzo. Uchiha Genya wants to infiltrate Root at night. Today, we’ll give him a lesson!"
