"Lord Hokage, is sothing wrong?"
The two unlucky n saw the heavy expression on Hiruzen Sarutobi’s face and couldn’t help asking.
They even glanced at each other, thinking they hadn’t done anything wrong.
Did they ss up sohow?
The thought flashed through both their minds for just a mont before they shook their heads. Ever since their last mistake, they had been extrely careful, terrified of causing trouble again.
This ti, they were absolutely sure they did nothing wrong.
"Take a look at this mission!" Hiruzen threw the mission slip at them, his tone icy. "Was this mission approved by you two?"
He stared at them, and for a mont, he even had the urge to kill them.
Recently, he had been desperately suppressing the news about people going missing. With the Chunin exams coming soon, he didn’t want any unexpected incidents to surface.
Everything was supposed to wait until after the exam.
But these two idiots actually put the incident out as a public mission, and worse, soone from the Uchiha clan had picked it up.
"This mission?" The two n looked at it, then turned to Hiruzen in confusion. "Soone ca to request it, but since they didn’t have money to pay the mission fee, we rejected them. Sohow Uchiha Genya ran into them, and he said he was willing to pay on their behalf. In the end, he even accepted the mission himself!"
"Lord Hokage, isn’t this a good thing? If they fail the mission, they won’t get the money back!"
"We’re basically earning money off the Uchihas!"
The two spoke excitedly, even looking pleased with themselves as they explained the ’benefits,’ as if expecting praise.
Hiruzen’s expression only grew darker as he listened. His eyelids twitched violently from anger.
He had been trying his best to bury this incident, yet these two fools had practically delivered it into Uchiha Genya’s hands.
Fortunately, Genya was just a useless mber of the Uchiha clan. If it had been one of their elites, the entire situation might have been exposed.
"Lord Hokage... your expression?" The two were stunned, confused by Hiruzen’s increasingly gloomy and eerie face.
"Get out. Get out of my sight!"
Hiruzen finally roared. These two idiots could never do anything right, only make trouble. He couldn’t stand looking at them anymore, afraid he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from killing them on the spot.
No... if they weren’t Sarutobi clansn, they would’ve been dead already.
"We’ll leave right away!" The two of them nodded quickly and hurried out of the room.
They were scared. Hiruzen Sarutobi could truly kill them in a fit of rage. It was better to leave imdiately.
"Go fetch Danzo and Eisuke for !" After they left, Hiruzen Sarutobi spoke to the ANBU outside, signaling them to call for the others.
Half an hour later.
Danzo Shimura entered with a calm smile. Seeing the furious Hiruzen Sarutobi, he habitually sat opposite him and looked at him with a composed expression.
"What happened to make you so unsettled?"
It had been a long ti since Danzo had seen Hiruzen this angry.
"Two fools turned a missing person case into a mission and announced it!" Hiruzen Sarutobi clenched his pipe, his tone tinged with frustration.
As he spoke, he couldn’t help but think about how he wanted to strangle those two idiots.
"Oh?" Danzo furrowed his brow but remained calm. "What mission? Who accepted it?"
The work he was doing had to stay secret. If it were discovered, it would be a serious problem, especially since the incident originated from Hiruzen’s side.
"It’s like this." Hiruzen repeated what the two fools had done, and the more he spoke, the angrier he beca.
"Oh? You an Uchiha Genya and Kurenai accepted this mission?" Danzo raised his eyebrows, murmuring.
"Yes," Hiruzen nodded.
"Overall, they’re useless. Hyuga Hinata and Abura Shino are just average Genin ninjas, only Kurenai is a bit troubleso." Danzo began analyzing the situation, his tone laced with calculation.
"Don’t worry," Hiruzen nodded. "I’ll assign Kurenai to handle other tasks. During the Chunin Exams, she won’t be involved with Genya and the others."
"If that’s the case, it’s easy to deal with!" Danzo nodded, his tone slightly relieved. "We just need to keep these three in check."
Looking at their photos, Danzo suddenly licked his lips. "Byakugan... I really want to study it."
"Danzo, things are already tense enough. Don’t cause any more trouble!" Hiruzen glared at him, his voice warning.
The Hyuga clan had just returned to calmness. Any sudden incident could provoke an extre reaction from them.
He didn’t want chaos at this ti.
"I know, I’ll control it. For now, I only need mbers of the Senju clan!" Danzo nodded, a playful tone in his voice.
He was just joking. His main interest was still the Sharingan. After the Chunin Exams, once the Uchiha clan was wiped out, he would study the Sharingan.
"You should also hold back. The Uchiha clan is paying special attention to this matter. If possible, don’t make any moves." Hiruzen reminded him.
Danzo nodded carelessly. "Understood."
Whether he truly listened or not, only he knew.
Not long after, Eisuke Sarutobi hurriedly walked in. He looked at Hiruzen Sarutobi with a hint of respect. "Hokage-sama, what instructions do you have for ?"
"Starting tomorrow, no Uchiha clan mbers or Yuhi Kurenai are allowed to enter the areas under Sarutobi’s Police Force, especially near the ANBU base!" Hiruzen said as he gave his orders to Eisuke.
No Uchiha allowed in Sarutobi’s territory?
It had always been enforced that way. After all, the territories controlled by the Sarutobi and Uchiha clans were separate and often at odds.
Now that Hiruzen gave this order, Eisuke knew it had to be taken even more seriously.
"There’s more..." Hiruzen continued. "Inform Kurenai. She is one of the examiners for the upcoming Chunin exams. Have her coordinate with the other instructors for the exam setup and training."
"Yes, sir!" Although Eisuke didn’t understand why Kurenai had to be part of the examiner team, he knew better than to question the Hokage’s orders.
After giving his instructions, Hiruzen stepped back, letting Eisuke leave.
Nearby, on a cliff close to the Hokage Rock, Kurenai stood facing Kakashi. A gentle breeze swept past them, making the air between them feel tense.
"Why did you call here?" Kakashi scratched his head. Seeing Kurenai so serious, he felt a little uneasy.
Since Kurenai, Kakashi, and Might Guy had been sent to capture the Wood Ox, they had ford a kind of temporary alliance. Now, seeing Kurenai’s intense expression, Kakashi wasn’t sure how to react.
Kurenai took a deep breath before speaking. "Kakashi, can you guess how many people have gone missing in Konoha these past few days?"
