"Yo~~ it’s you, little brat?"
Genya looked at the person in front of him with a teasing, playful expression.
The newcor was an old acquaintance — Sarutobi Konohamaru.
To be honest, Konoha’s dical treatnt for its upper leadership was indeed impressive. Konohamaru now looked completely uninjured.
At this mont, Sarutobi Konohamaru was glaring at him, full of anger.
Behind him followed the usual jōnin caretaker, but... this ti there were two of them instead of one.
After the incident last ti, Sarutobi Hiruzen had increased Konohamaru’s security even further.
"You still dare to laugh at ? I’m going to cripple you today!" Konohamaru shouted and rushed at Genya, ready to fight.
He was still as reckless and out of control as ever.
"Konohamaru-sama, please don’t! Don’t attack!" One of the guards imdiately stepped in, sounding completely panicked.
"Let go of ! Let go!" Konohamaru struggled, glaring angrily at the guards holding him back. "I said let go!"
"No! Konohamaru-sama, you’re no match for him!" one guard shook his head frantically. "Calm down! Please calm down!"
"Calm down? He’s my enemy!" Konohamaru’s voice rose with fury. "If I can’t beat him... then you help get revenge!"
Uh...?
Both guards shook their heads instantly.
What a joke.
They knew perfectly well that the Uchiha clan would retaliate against anyone who touched one of their own.
If they attacked Genya in the middle of the street for no reason, those hot‑headed Uchiha wouldn’t hesitate to storm their hos the sa night.
And with the Third Hokage’s personality, he would absolutely sacrifice them in order to placate the Uchiha.
Having followed Konohamaru for so long, they knew Sarutobi Hiruzen’s character well, which was why they were always extrely cautious.
If they weren’t smart, they would’ve been dead already.
"Go! Go beat him up for !" Konohamaru kicked at the body of the guard restraining him, his voice growing angrier.
"No, Konohamaru-sama!" the caretaker shook his head quickly. "The Hokage ordered us not to let you cause trouble!"
"You—!" Konohamaru was completely enraged.
"Lord Genya... we’ve been out long enough. It’s ti to return." With that, the male jōnin caretaker lifted Konohamaru into his arms, gave Genya a polite smile, and turned to leave.
"Put down!"
"Cowards!"
"Uchiha Genya, just you wait! I’ll definitely get my revenge! You hear ? Just wait!"
"I’m going to take you down!"
"Revenge!"
"Just you wait~~~"
Seeing that he couldn’t change the situation, Konohamaru yelled at Genya, every harsh word dripping with anger.
It seed this grudge would stay with him for a lifeti.
Hehe.
Genya watched this little scene and laughed. It was ridiculous. Konohamaru’s arrogance hadn’t changed at all.
Luckily for Konohamaru, it was him who had made an enemy of Genya. If it had been anyone else, they would have been dragged off for experints long ago.
Of course, Genya didn’t dwell on it. He simply kept moving forward.
There was still a mission to complete.
When he arrived at the mission hall, Hinata, Kurenai, and a few others were already there, waiting for him.
"Genya, the Chunin Exams are coming soon. Why are you taking a mission now?" Kurenai looked at him, her eyes full of confusion.
She had submitted Genya and the others’ registration forms for the Chunin Exams, and today they had received a reply—Genya and his two companions were eligible to take the exam.
Normally, students participating in the Chunin Exams didn’t have to take missions.
But Genya was still here, accepting a mission. Considering his intelligence and personality, she knew he must understand that.
Hinata blinked her innocent eyes at Genya. She didn’t question him. If he wanted to take the mission, she would follow along.
"It’s a very simple mission," Genya said with a calm smile, his tone completely even. "Let’s go in."
Kurenai didn’t ask any more questions. She followed Genya inside.
This ti, it was still those sa two troublemakers. How amusing.
"Do you want a mission?" one of the troublemakers asked Genya, starting the conversation.
"I’m about to take the Chunin Exams. Assign a simple mission within the village," Genya said calmly, looking at the two of them.
"Huh? A mission inside the village?" The two exchanged a glance and then shook their heads in unison. "No. Since you’re already preparing for the Chunin Exams, just focus on the test."
Their tone was flat. Ever since that last incident, they didn’t want any trouble.
Since they didn’t have the mission Genya wanted, they simply wouldn’t give one. Their goal was to stay as far away from him as possible.
"Oh?" Genya’s eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing.
"Lord, please help us register a mission for our people!" While Genya was talking, a few people walked in, their voices full of pleading.
"Our child is missing!"
"I can’t find my child’s father!"
"My son!"
They begged, clearly hoping to get a mission registered.
"No..." The two mbers of the Sarutobi clan shook their heads. "The people you’re looking for are all over twelve years old, so even over thirty. They might have just gone out and not returned. Don’t waste Konoha’s ninja resources!"
From their tone, it was obvious these people had co several tis before.
"No, I believe they wouldn’t go missing without reason. They must be in danger!" One of them quickly spoke up, and the others nodded in agreent.
Then they all looked at the two Sarutobi mbers together. "Please register the mission!"
The two Sarutobi mbers grew impatient. One of them said, "If you want to register a mission, fine, but pay up. A search mission for three people will cost a total of ten thousand ryo."
"Just pay, and I’ll register your mission!"
"And it will be a C-rank mission standard!"
"We don’t have money!" These villagers were clearly poor. Hearing that it would cost ten thousand ryo, they looked troubled.
The two Sarutobi mbers waved their hands impatiently. "This is the mission hall. If you don’t have money, don’t co here!"
"I’ll pay for them!" Before the Sarutobi mbers could speak, Genya spoke up from the side. "Ten thousand ryo!"
Then he looked at the villagers and asked slowly, "Your relatives went missing in Konoha?"
"Yes!" They nodded.
"That’s enough," Genya said, nodding as he handed the ten thousand ryo to the two Sarutobi mbers. "Register the mission quickly. I’ll take it!"
"..." The two Sarutobi mbers were speechless. "If you wanted to take the mission, you could’ve just discussed it with them. Why pay money?"
"I have money, so I’m willing. You can think I want to earn points," Genya said calmly, looking at them. "Hurry and open the mission sheet!"
He wasn’t going to tell them that he wanted a legitimate, convincing identity to uncover the truth behind this.
Heh. After publishing this mission, these two Sarutobi mbers might even get scolded by Hiruzen Sarutobi!
