"A Wood Release user... killed a rogue ninja?"
Genya muttered under his breath, his eyes flashing with interest.
Heh.
Since the shinobi world was about to descend into chaos, his organization had to make its mark.
"Genya... You don't think it's that brat, Hayashi, do you?" Uchiha Kinya had so understanding of Senju Hayashi. Recently, Hayashi had left Konoha, making this possibility hard to ignore.
In fact, he was almost certain—it had to be Hayashi.
"If no one else in the shinobi world can use Wood Release... then yeah, it's him," Genya said, already piecing things together. Hayashi was likely carrying out his orders.
And judging by the situation, he hadn't gone on a killing spree—he had simply eliminated a rogue ninja.
Genya had to admit, Hayashi was efficient. But he had also been careless. His very first battle had already exposed the fact that he could use Wood Release.
This was bound to attract a lot of attention. So would covet his power, while others might make a move against him from the shadows.
The real test for Hayashi was just beginning. Wood Release was too tempting—no shinobi could resist its allure.
"It really is Hayashi? He's already stirring up trouble. Should we bring him back to the clan for now? Let him lay low until things settle before sending him out again?" Uchiha Kinya had no idea what mission his son had assigned Hayashi, but the kid had been following Genya for a while now. Seeing him in danger made Kinya hesitate.
If possible, he'd rather have Hayashi return.
"No need. He can handle this himself," Genya said firmly, shaking his head. If Hayashi couldn't face this on his own, then he wasn't ready to be out there at all.
At that ti, he would take back the Wooden Ox Mask from Hayashi. From then on, Hayashi would no longer be a mber of Atsukara and would remain by his side as an ordinary ninja.
"But..." Uchiha Kinya was still hesitant.
"Dad, you don't have to worry about this. If Hayashi senses danger, he'll co back on his own!" Genya reassured Uchiha Kinya with a confident look, then quickly changed the subject:
"Dad, your cell infusion has finally been completed. In the next few days, I'll take you to get the Uzumaki Cell Injection!"
"I can finally fuse with the cell infusion?" Uchiha Kinya's eyes lit up. He had been waiting for this for a long ti.
Ever since his wife injected the so-called 'rejuvenation serum,' she had been looking younger and younger, while he still appeared like a middle-aged man—no, a weak middle-aged man at that.
So... he had long been looking forward to Genya's cell infusion. With it, his body would beco much stronger.
"You can... but, Dad, after you fuse with the cells, you'll have to train in ninjutsu with Uncle Shin. A Uchiha clan leader who doesn't know any ninjutsu? That's unacceptable!" Genya added, determined. It was about ti his father learned so techniques to protect himself.
A Uchiha clan leader without survival skills would suffer sooner or later.
"Huh? I have to learn ninjutsu too?" Uchiha Kinya was stunned. He hadn't expected that, at his age, he would still have to train. "Son, you know my talent in training isn't great... do I really have to learn ninjutsu?"
Right now, Uchiha Kinya had no desire to practice ninjutsu.
Genya, however, firmly shook his head. "No excuses. You're the Uchiha clan leader. There's no way you can go without knowing even a single ninjutsu!"
"Son, do you want to hand over the position of Uchiha Clan Head to you?" Uchiha Kinya asked, testing the waters as he looked at Genya.
Genya raised an eyebrow when he heard this. Seriously? His old man was this shaless? Just to avoid training, he was willing to give up his position as Clan Head?
"No way!" Genya shook his head without hesitation and said, "Tomorrow, I'll take you and Uncle Shin to the Uchiha Hospital to arrange for the cell infusion treatnt. In the afternoon, Uncle Shin will take you for training!"
As for being Clan Head? He had no interest in that. With his father still in charge, he had plenty of freedom to do what he wanted.
"Genya, you—" Uchiha Kinya tried to explain, but Genya ignored him completely.
He casually went ho. When he arrived, Deidara was chatting with Hikari, though their conversation was mostly about research—especially explosive art.
Hikari shared so insights about dical ninjutsu, and surprisingly, her perspective seed to pique Deidara's interest. His eyes were practically glowing as if he'd just had a breakthrough idea.
"Genya! Do you have a lab here? I need to start researching my explosive art imdiately!" Deidara exclaid the mont he saw Genya.
As he spoke, he pulled out a chunk of explosive clay from who-knows-where and fed it to the mouth on his palm, looking eager to start testing.
Genya shivered at the sight.
He had to admit—Deidara was way too reckless. Letting him conduct experints at ho? No way. The whole house could be blown to pieces at any mont.
Thinking of this, he quickly stepped forward.
"Brother Deidara, since you're here, why not take so ti to explore and relax first? Gather your thoughts, and then we can set up a top-tier underground lab for you outside Konoha!"
He carefully tried to persuade him.
"No, I have to continue my research, or I might forget everything!" Deidara insisted with a serious expression, as if Genya was the villain stopping him from advancing his art.
"Hold off on your research for now. I have so new insights on explosive art to share with you. Maybe my ideas will help you improve even more!" Genya cautiously persuaded him.
"Don't worry, in the next two days, I'll make sure you're settled in properly. I'll also find a good place for your lab!"
It seed he needed to start planning a location for Deidara's lab. Hmm... that small lake he often visited might be a good choice. It was quiet, and no one ever went there.
He needed to send soone to prepare the place. In the next two days, he'd have Deidara moved there.
"What insights? Tell right now!" Deidara was relentless.
"Uh... tomorrow. Tomorrow, after I finish handling everything, we'll have a proper discussion about the art of explosions."
After much effort, Genya finally managed to calm Deidara down.
Deidara, feeling a little bored, leaned back in his chair again, lost in thought—likely pondering how to refine his art.
Genya let out a sigh of relief. He had finally settled the matter, at least for now.
Hokage's Office.
"How's the investigation going? Is it true that a Wood Release user has appeared?"
Hiruzen Sarutobi's voice was heavy as he looked at the two ANBU before him.
He took a slow drag from his pipe, his expression clouded with deep thought.
Behind him stood Kakashi Hatake, who was on duty today. As he listened to Hiruzen's question, a dark, unreadable look flickered in his eyes.
Senju Hayashi... is that you?
