"Did Hikari tell you about the eye replacent?"
Genya looked at Shisui, who remained calm, and asked casually.
After the Uchiha Itachi betrayal incident, the Sharingan he had obtained was stored in the basent. At the sa ti, he had arranged a pair of eyes for Uchiha Shisui.
"She did. She's in the room right now, conducting experints." Shisui nodded, then closed his eyes, facing a certain direction. His expression was a mix of longing and uncertainty... No, more like hesitation.
Genya followed his gaze. It was a small lab—Hikari hadn't forgotten his request and was still working hard on the experint.
"That's good." Genya nodded and said to Shisui, "It won't be long before your vision is restored."
"I've been blind for so long that I've already adapted to the darkness. Whether I regain my sight or not doesn't matter much to anymore," Shisui shook his head. The thought that these eyes once belonged to a fallen comrade made him even more reluctant.
If it were before, he would rather stay blind forever than use another Uchiha's eyes.
"You don't have to feel so burdened or guilty. With these eyes, you'll be able to do more for the clan." Genya understood Shisui's hesitation and reassured him. "They're continuing to serve, even after death."
Continuing to serve...
Shisui muttered under his breath, then finally asked, "What's the situation with the clan in the past few days? I heard that Itachi..."
He had been feeling uneasy, but he didn't know all the details. Even though Hikari had co, she only had partial information and was confused about what had happened.
But...
He had already guessed most of it.
"You should already have an idea," Genya said slowly. "Uchiha Itachi led an attack to wipe out the clan. He killed over 140 Uchiha before we managed to drive him back."
"How could Itachi do such a thing? Why?!"
Shisui clenched his fists. Even though he had suspected the outco, his face still twisted with anger.
Itachi... Why did he destroy the clan?
He had always longed for peace. Shisui believed Itachi felt the sa way. So why did he do it?
Shisui couldn't understand. He couldn't help but ask, "Was he threatened? Itachi had already awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan—if he wanted to wipe out the clan, the damage wouldn't have been so limited!"
Thinking about it, Shisui subconsciously tried to find an excuse for Itachi.
He had experienced the overwhelming power of Susanoo firsthand.
If Itachi had truly wanted to kill indiscriminately, the losses would have been far greater—especially in a densely populated area like the Uchiha compound.
It didn't make sense that only about 140 people had died.
Not to ntion, Itachi had his followers.
"Hah... Held back?" Genya scoffed, showing no rcy toward Shisui's hopeful thinking. "If I hadn't stepped in, the entire Uchiha clan would have been wiped out by Itachi!"
"When he attacked , he didn't hold back at all. And even while fighting , he still had ti to strike down other Uchiha!"
"As for why he did it—you'll have to ask him yourself."
Genya then recounted the events of that night in detail. He described how the Uchiha fought desperately against the invading outsiders, stalling for reinforcents.
He made sure to emphasize the clan's tragic fate.
Shisui clenched his fists as he listened.
Itachi... Why did you do this?
At the sa ti, he was shaken by Genya's strength. He had single-handedly stopped Itachi, even when Itachi had unleashed the full power of his Susanoo.
The laboratory fell into a long silence. Finally, Shisui spoke.
"Who were the people following Itachi?"
"The Root shinobi, of course. We've confird that both Root and Sarutobi Hiruzen were involved in the extermination plan."
Genya looked straight at Shisui, as if worried he wouldn't believe it. "Every ninja who invaded the Uchiha compound had the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal on their tongues. In the end, even Hiruzen and Danzo showed up."
Shisui nodded silently. He didn't say another word.
No one knew what he was thinking.
"Success! I did it! Shisui, your eyes can be transplanted!"
Just as the two were talking, the door of the lab's private room was pushed open. Senju Hikari walked out, her face full of excitent.
The task the Genya-sama assigned could finally be completed!
As she stepped out, she noticed Genya and quickly reined in her usual lively deanor. "Genya-sama, you're here too?"
Clearly, she hadn't expected Genya to co to the lab.
"Hikari, the eye transplant experint was a success?" Genya looked at her, his gaze carrying a mix of curiosity and hope.
If Uchiha Shisui's eyes were restored, he'd be a solid Kage-level force. In the future, Atsukara would have another top powerhouse walking the outside world, unafraid of any faction.
"Yes, yes!" Hikari nodded seriously. "Shisui's vision has a real chance of being restored. There's still so minor rejection, but the success rate has already reached 70%!"
"Seventy percent?" Genya frowned, clearly dissatisfied with the result.
He had specifically chosen Fugaku's eyes for this— a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan that would enhance Shisui's strength.
If the transplant failed, it would be a huge waste!
"Genya-sama, 70% is already very high! The pair of eyes you selected didn't even have a 30% chance at first!" Hikari noticed Genya's dissatisfaction and quickly added, "If this attempt doesn't work, we'll have to switch to another pair."
"That's the only option then." Genya nodded.
If this transplant failed, he wasn't sure if replacing the eyes again would impact Shisui's power.
He wanted a Shisui at full strength!
"When will the surgery begin?" Genya asked.
"We can start right now!" Hikari responded seriously.
"Right now?" Genya nodded, then turned to look at Shisui. "Shisui, are you ready?"
"If the transplant succeeds, how long until I regain my sight?" Shisui asked, focusing on his own concern.
If the surgery is successful, you'll be able to see by tomorrow. But for a full recovery, you'll need at least half a month of rest!" Hikari carefully considered before continuing, "If there's a rejection reaction, I'll need to stabilize you. With my Wood Release, I can help your body adjust. The chances of a successful transplant are still high, but it will take a long ti!"
Hikari explained seriously. The more she spoke, the more Genya felt that Kakashi was truly favored by fate. He had taken Obito's eye in the middle of a battlefield, and Rin had managed to transplant it successfully.
After all, even Madara had failed multiple tis when swapping eyes, only succeeding when he used his brother's Sharingan!
"Alright, let's begin the transplant." Uchiha Shisui nodded, agreeing to the procedure.
On the operating table, Hikari maintained a serious expression, suppressing a small smile.
She began the surgery, with several researchers assisting. Genya stood to the side, watching in silence.
They waited quietly for the results.
