Generally, this ant besieging a town to lure out enemy reinforcents, with the true objective being the annihilation of said reinforcents.
The focus of "Encircle the Point to Strike the Reinforcents" was on striking the reinforcents. Thus, the main force was deployed to handle the reinforcents, while the besieging force was secondary.
Led by one of the legendary Sannin, Jiraiya, Konoha’s most elite Shinobi launched a surprise attack on Iwagakure’s Earth Release combination units.
Their ultimate goal was to delay the Allied Shinobi Forces’ advance.
No matter what, they had to hold out until the Hokage returned...
Therefore, though knowing the enemy would surely deploy nurous Shinobi to guard the Earth Release units, Jiraiya still charged forward without hesitation.
It could be said that this surprise attack would, to so extent, determine the course of the war between Konoha and the Allied Shinobi Forces.
If they couldn’t destroy the enemy’s demining operation tonight, nearly sixty thousand Shinobi would have a clear path, overwhelming Konoha’s forces with sheer numbers.
Now, just having Konoha’s forces spread out along the vast Kusagakure border, engaging in guerrilla warfare with the Allied forces, was already a struggle. If the Allied forces concentrated their strength at a single point to break through—they wouldn’t even have the chance for guerrilla warfare.

Jiraiya adjusted his "Oil" forehead protector, the last trace of pity vanishing from his eyes. Without looking back, he addressed the assembled Konoha Shinobi behind him.
"This is the final battle plan. All units prepare for a surprise attack. Target: all Iwagakure Shinobi in the combination units."
"Of course, to the enemy, we will also be excellent targets. Once they use their combination jutsu to alter the terrain, we will likely be trapped, cornered—aning, everyone present, including myself, might die tonight."

"Fire Release: Fire Dragon Fla Bullet!"
Jiraiya ford hand seals, the flas erupting from his mouth dancing like a ferocious fire dragon.
It split into three, striking the Iwagakure encampnt from the front, left, and right. The dazzling fire dragon illuminated the entire camp. Upon contact, the Iwagakure scout Shinobi in its path were reduced to ash.
Jiraiya—had sounded the horn for the surprise attack.
Behind him, not a single Konoha Shinobi from the strike force retreated. They imdiately unleashed their most proficient ninjutsu, taijutsu, charging like hungry wolves towards the unsuspecting, still-dazed Earth Release Shinobi.
"Konoha Dragon God!" A verdant divine dragon blood with dazzling radiance under the night sky.
"Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet!" The water dragon and the divine dragon combined, wreaking havoc upon the Iwagakure encampnt.
"Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm!" A blast of white energy pierced through the thick earth wall, striking an Iwagakure Shinobi in the chest.
The sudden attack threw the Iwa Shinobi into disarray. But as mbers of the combination units, they quickly recovered. The fear in their eyes was replaced by an inexplicable excitent.
Konoha Shinobi had really attacked them? Didn’t they know this was Allied Shinobi Forces territory?
As long as they used their Earth Release combination jutsu to trap them, and simultaneously blocked their retreat—when reinforcents arrived, these Konoha Shinobi would all die!
"Our minds are one! Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!" The Iwa Shinobi, their hearts connected, slamd their hands on the ground.
A massive amount of earth-natured chakra flowed into the ground.
A colossal earth wall, nearly ten ters high and wide, rose beneath the combination units’ feet.
And their numbers continued to increase, surrounding the Konoha Shinobi.
The Konoha Dragon God’s strength was imnse, a single tail swipe destroying a large section of the earth wall. The Vacuum Palm’s piercing power was also strong, capable of striking the Iwa Shinobi’s chests even through several earth walls.
But the Iwa Shinobi’s replacent speed was also fast. Because their chakra was linked, there was almost no chakra shortage.
The mont an earth wall was destroyed, a new one would be generated.
Though every second, Earth Release Shinobi were being killed by Konoha Shinobi, the number of earth walls—was only increasing.
"Earth Release: Great Mud River!"
"Earth Release: Iron Prison!"
More and more imprisoning Earth Release ninjutsu were used. Jiraiya, sensing trouble, knew from past experience that once trapped, the mission would truly fail.
Jiraiya, forming a hand seal with his foot, stomped on the ground. A massive summoning jutsu seal appeared. "Summoning Jutsu: Gamabunta!"
The seasoned Gamabunta appeared in the center of the battlefield, cooperating with the Konoha Shinobi to continuously destroy the surrounding earth walls.

And just then, a Shinobi, crackling with dazzling lightning, appeared atop the highest earth wall.
Seeing the newcor’s face, Jiraiya’s heart sank slightly. He uttered the man’s identity:
"Fourth Raikage..."
