The conference room fell silent as footsteps approached the door.

Tsunade entered first, Hanekawa following close behind. The assembled jonin rose imdiately.

"Lord Hokage," Hiashi Hyuga said, the first to acknowledge her presence.

The other jonin followed suit, standing in unison. Only Fugaku Uchiha's expression remained guarded, his jaw tightening slightly at the display of deference.

Tsunade waved them down. "Please, be seated."

As the jonin settled back into their chairs, Hanekawa's eyes swept across the room. His gaze caught on an unexpected figure—Kushina Uzumaki, sitting among the assembled leaders. She'd never attended these etings before. As the Nine-Tails jinchuriki, her presence would have been... complicated under the Third Hokage's rule.

Tsunade, it seed, operated differently.

"First order of business," Tsunade announced, her voice cutting through the room like a blade. She gestured toward the front row, where four seats stood. Three were occupied: the two Hokage advisors, and an empty chair where Danzo once sat. "Advisor Koharu, please move one seat to the left."

Koharu Utane's eyes widened. "What do you an?"

"Tsunade," Mitokado Homura interjected, his tone carefully asured, "Koharu has always sat in that position. Why the change?"

The jonin exchanged glances. Hanekawa felt the temperature in the room shift—suddenly, every clan head was leaning forward with interest.

"That was before," Tsunade said calmly. "There are people more suited to the role now."

"Who?" Koharu demanded, her voice sharp.

"Hanekawa."

The word hung in the air like a kunai. Hanekawa felt every eye in the room turn toward him. His stomach did a small flip.

"Tsunade, he's just a junior!" Koharu's voice rose, indignation flooding her features.

"The capable should work harder, not the old," Tsunade replied, her tone brooking no argunt. "I call you a consultant out of respect for the previous Hokage. But rit? Can you truly compare yourself to Hanekawa?"

Koharu's face flushed crimson. She opened her mouth, closed it, then stood abruptly. Without another word, she moved to the adjacent seat, her movents stiff with barely contained fury.

Mitokado Homura hesitated, then remained silent.

Hanekawa watched the exchange with a strange sense of detachnt. This wasn't how things had played out in the original tiline. Tsunade was far more aggressive than the Third Hokage had ever been.

"Co," Tsunade said, patting the now-empty seat beside her. "Sit."

Hanekawa rose and took the position. The weight of dozens of stares pressed against him, but he kept his expression neutral.

Then sothing shifted in his perception.

A notification blood in his mind:

[A-Rank Talent Entry: Second Generation Shadow]

[Trigger Condition: Appointed as Hokage's Assistant]

[Effect: All hidden ninjutsu effectiveness increased by 150%]

[Note: Cannot be synthesized]

Second Generation Shadow? Hanekawa suppressed a smile. That's... actually kind of funny.

The effect was solid, even if the na was ridiculous. Hidden ninjutsu wasn't his primary focus, but a 150% boost was nothing to dismiss.

"Third matter," Tsunade continued, as if the seating rearrangent hadn't just sent shockwaves through Konoha's political structure. "Root has been dissolved. It will not be rebuilt. Hanekawa will assu command of the ANBU."

The room erupted in barely suppressed reactions. Uchiha Fugaku's eyes widened. Hiashi Hyuga leaned back, reassessing. Even Kushina raised an eyebrow.

The ANBU had always been the Hokage's personal force—a tool of direct command that no one else touched. For Tsunade to hand it to Hanekawa was unprecedented.

She's really committed to this, Hanekawa thought. Setting up for the succession.

"The negotiation date with Hidden Cloud has been set for January," Tsunade continued smoothly. "Hanekawa, you'll deliver this ssage to Mabui."

Hanekawa nodded. It was a convenient excuse to maintain his cover as a Hidden Cloud operative. More importantly, he still needed that S-Rank entry: "Book Raikage."

"Finally, organizational adjustnts will be discussed in a separate eting," Tsunade concluded, standing. "If there's nothing else, we're adjourned."

The eting had lasted less than thirty minutes.

The jonin exchanged confused glances as Tsunade turned to leave. Hanekawa followed, but not before catching the expressions on Koharu and Mitokado Homura's faces—a mixture of shock and barely restrained anger.

"Tsunade!" Koharu's voice called out from behind them.

Tsunade didn't break stride. "Yes, Advisors?"

"We should discuss the organizational changes," Mitokado Homura said carefully. "The Hokage's advisors have a responsibility to—"

"We'll address it in a proper eting," Tsunade interrupted, not even glancing back. "There's no need to rush."

She entered the Hokage's office and closed the door behind them.

"That resentnt is practically tangible," Hanekawa observed, leaning against the desk.

"Ignore them," Tsunade said dismissively. "They've coasted on seniority for far too long."

Hanekawa had to admit—this version of Tsunade was refreshingly direct. In the original tiline, she'd tolerated the advisors far longer. His presence had clearly emboldened her.

"You should head to the ANBU headquarters," Tsunade said, stretching. "Make so changes. Show them who's in charge."

"Understood," Hanekawa replied. "By the way—where's your Hokage robe? Your hat?"

"I'm still temporary," Tsunade said, waving a hand. "They'll be made eventually."

"I'll have soone handle it."

Tsunade nodded, then promptly collapsed onto the Hokage's desk with a groan. "Being Hokage is exhausting."

Hanekawa's eyes widened as the desk creaked ominously under her weight. "You just finished a eting."

"Look at these docunts," Tsunade gestured vaguely at the mountain of paperwork covering every surface. "The war's aftermath doesn't process itself."

Hanekawa glanced at the stacks. She had a point. "You could establish a staff division. Have the Nara clan handle administrative work."

Tsunade's head snapped up, her eyes suddenly bright. "That's brilliant."

"For now, though..." Hanekawa smiled slightly. "I suppose we'll both have to work hard for a few days."

"We?" Tsunade sat up, a dangerous grin spreading across her face. "You're the Hokage's assistant now. We split the workload fifty-fifty."

"At your command, Teacher."

The Land of Rain

Two figures walked through the rain-soaked landscape. Uchiha Madara moved with the deliberate pace of soone who had all the ti in the world.

"How do you plan to join Akatsuki?" Madara asked.

"I'll go directly to Nagato and demonstrate my strength," Obito replied with confidence. "He'll accept ."

Madara stopped walking. "Akatsuki is currently allied with Konoha. Walking in directly would be suicide."

Obito frowned. "Then I won't reveal my identity."

"And how do you conduct the Moon Eye Project without revealing yourself?" Madara sighed internally. The boy's strategic thinking was... lacking. "Your priority is dismantling the Konoha-Akatsuki alliance."

"How?"

"The 'alliance' is one-sided—Konoha provides funding," Madara explained patiently. "Replace them. Beco Akatsuki's financial backer instead."

"I have no money," Obito said flatly.

"You have the Mangekyō Sharingan," Madara replied. "Control the shadows of the Five Great Villages. Start with Hidden Mist or Hidden Sand."

Obito's expression cleared. "I see."

"Nagato is the key," Madara continued. "His parents were killed by Konoha ninja. He'll be sympathetic to our cause."

As Madara outlined his plans, he couldn't help but notice Obito's limitations. The boy had power but lacked the strategic depth necessary for what lay ahead. Still, he was useful. And with proper guidance, perhaps he could be shaped into sothing more.

The rain fell harder, washing across the Land of Rain as two shadows plotted against the world.
