The Third Hokage set down his pipe with deliberate care. "Among Minato's three students, I plan to choose—"

The door slid open.

Danzo Shimura stepped through without knocking, his single eye fixed on Hiruzen with the intensity of a predator. "Why wasn't I inford?"

Hiruzen's frown deepened. "Inford of what?"

"The class assignnts." Danzo moved to the table with asured steps. "As your assistant, I have every right to participate in this discussion. And I intend to lead a team."

The silence that followed was heavy with unspoken aning.

Hiruzen understood imdiately. With this year's exceptional talent pool, Danzo wanted to secure the best students for Root. Hanekawa and Kakashi were his primary targets—they always were.

"You're already stretched thin," Hiruzen said flatly. "You don't have ti for a team."

"I make ti for what matters."

Koharu Utane intervened before the tension could escalate further. "Since you're here, Danzo, let's discuss it together. There's no harm in hearing your preferences."

The two n exchanged a look that lasted exactly two seconds before Hiruzen retrieved the crystal ball. It flickered to life, displaying the fifth-grade classroom in real-ti.

"Nothing remarkable here," Danzo observed, watching the students file in for their graduation exam. "They'll all pass regardless. Which three caught your eye?"

"Hanekawa, Kakashi, and Uchiha Shisui," Danzo said without hesitation.

"Impossible." Hiruzen's voice was ice.

Koharu shook her head gently. "Hanekawa belongs to Tsunade. And Kakashi is Sakumo's son. You know this."

Danzo's expression didn't shift. "Then Uchiha Shisui alone will suffice."

Of course. His real target had always been Shisui. The other two were rely opening moves in a larger ga.

"You despise the Uchiha," Koharu said, confused. "Why the sudden interest?"

"Shisui is descended from Uchiha Kagami," Danzo replied with calculated sincerity. "As Kagami's forr teammate, I feel obligated to guide him. To ensure he walks the path of true will of fire."

The lie was smooth. Professional. What Danzo actually wanted was the Sharingan—combined with the Wood Style he'd acquired through Yamato, such power would be unstoppable.

Hiruzen and Koharu exchanged a glance. Danzo's sudden reverence for "teammate bonds" was transparently false.

"No," Hiruzen said.

"Why not?" Danzo's voice remained calm, but his hands clenched slightly. "What possible objection could you have?"

"I know exactly what you're thinking, Danzo. And it ends here."

"Then what am I supposed to do?" Danzo's composure cracked slightly. "Everything is forbidden. Everyone is off-limits. You're being unreasonable."

"Shisui already has a teacher," Hiruzen continued, unmoved. "Hatake Sakumo."

Danzo's eye widened fractionally. "Sakumo? You're entrusting an Uchiha to the White Fang? That's reckless. Dangerous."

"Shisui is Kagami's descendant. He deserves better than suspicion."

"Uchiha are born with darkness in their hearts!" Danzo's voice rose, quoting the Second Hokage's infamous doctrine. "Even Kagami's blood cannot change that fundantal truth. You're making a catastrophic mistake, Hiruzen."

"Enough." Hiruzen's tone brooked no argunt. "I am the Hokage."

Danzo stood abruptly, his chair scraping backward. Their eyes locked—a clash of wills that made the air feel heavy. For a mont, it seed he might say sothing else. Instead, he turned sharply toward the door.

"You will regret this," he said quietly, and left.

The door closed with a soft click.

Koharu exhaled slowly. "Well. That went better than expected."

Hiruzen picked up his pipe again, his expression thoughtful. "Let's continue. Sakumo's team will be Asuma, Shisui, and Shizune."

Mitokado Homura adjusted his glasses. "Shizune? The Senju girl?"

"She has aptitude for dical ninjutsu," Hiruzen confird. "We need more dical specialists. And Sakumo values his team mbers above all else. Asuma will be safe with him."

It was a calculated decision. By placing his son with the White Fang, Hiruzen could monitor Sakumo's true loyalties while ensuring Asuma received genuine ntorship rather than favoritism.

"And Hanekawa's team?" Koharu asked.

"Hanekawa, Kurenai, and Rin," Hiruzen said. "Tsunade chose them herself. If anyone objects, they're welco to discuss it with her personally."

The implication hung in the air. No one volunteered.

"That leaves Minato's team," Mitokado Homura said. "I assu Kakashi is one of them?"

"Kakashi, Obito, and Guy," Hiruzen confird.

Danzo's earlier words echoed in the silence that followed. An Uchiha in the Hokage's direct lineage. It was a deliberate statent—a gesture of trust toward the clan that Danzo saw as inherently treacherous.

"Minato will handle them well," Koharu said finally. "He has the temperant for it."

Hiruzen nodded, satisfied. The pieces were in place.

Grade 5, Class A

Hanekawa sat at his desk, the Konoha forehead protector resting in his lap. Around him, the classroom buzzed with nervous energy as students waited for their turn at the graduation exam.

"Uchiha Obito!"

The call ca from the examination room next door. Obito shot to his feet with characteristic enthusiasm, flashing a grin at Rin.

"Full marks, no problem!" he declared. "I've been training my chakra control. This is going to be easy!"

Rin smiled encouragingly. "Good luck!"

Hanekawa watched him go, already knowing how this would play out. Obito would pass. Everyone would pass. The Three Body Techniques were basic enough that even diocre students could manage them.

Minutes later, Obito returned wearing his new forehead protector, looking pleased with himself until he noticed Hanekawa being called next.

The examination room was simple—just Eiichiro and a table with three sealed scrolls. Hanekawa drew one at random and unsealed it to reveal his assigned technique: Transformation Jutsu.

He ford the seals with practiced efficiency. His body shimred and reford into an exact copy of Eiichiro, down to the smallest detail.

"Impressive speed," Eiichiro said, unable to hide his surprise. "Your seal work is exceptional."

Hanekawa released the transformation and accepted the forehead protector with a polite nod.

As he turned to leave, three lines of text materialized in his vision:

[D-Rank Talent Entry: God of Learning]

[Trigger Condition: Ranked first in all Ninja Academy theory courses]

[Effect: Comprehension increases by 30%]

[E-Rank Talent Entry: Academy's Top Student]

[Trigger Condition: Maintained top ranking from enrollnt through graduation]

[Effect: Chakra capacity increases by 10% from baseline]

Hanekawa's pulse quickened. The second entry was unexpected—he'd assud it would never trigger. But more importantly, the synthesis possibilities...

He returned to the classroom where Kurenai imdiately demanded to see his forehead protector. He handed it over with a slight smile.

"I knew you'd get perfect marks!" she crowed, turning it over in her hands like it was made of gold.

One by one, the other students cycled through. Kakashi erged with his forehead protector looking utterly unimpressed by the whole affair. Guy returned practically vibrating with excitent, declaring sothing about "the springti of youth" and "the flas of our ninja dreams."

By the ti the last student finished, Hanekawa's mind was already racing through calculations.

[C-Rank Talent Entry: Prodigy Genin]

[Synthesis Requirents: E-Rank Three Body Techniques E-Rank Weapon Throwing E-Rank Academy's Top Student]

[Effect: Chakra refinent speed increases by 100%. Chakra capacity increases by 50% from baseline]

Fifty percent. That was substantial. Combined with his other entries, his chakra reserves would be genuinely impressive for his age.

And that was just the beginning. The synthesis chain continued upward—C-Rank entries could combine into B-Rank abilities, which could eventually reach A-Rank or higher.

[B-Rank Talent Entry: Strongest Genin]

[Synthesis Requirents: C-Rank Prodigy Genin C-Rank Chunin Exam Champion C-Rank Sensory Specialist C-Rank Five Elents Master]

The path was clear. Long, but clear.

Hanekawa fastened his forehead protector and allowed himself a small, satisfied smile.

"Not bad. Not bad at all."
